What is the agenda of those deflecting from the thread title of the death penalty for Palestinian detainees in Israel and the horrific reports of their rape and abuse? I'm quite concerned about people's need to do that.

This is why we are where we are, Israel can do no wrong, what they do is excusable and all good to go in the world of the pro mass murderers.

@Twiglets1 as for people hating jews.... well i think you will find plenty of people hate Russians for what they are doing in Ukraine or hating Iranians for gunning down students.

Every country that has ever gone to war has committed war crimes and there’s no reason to think Israel is different. Pakistan bombed a hospital in Kabul only weeks ago and nobody seemed to care much about that.

Israel was attacked and Israel responded. Only Israel is held to a different, higher standard where it’s expected to take years of rocket attacks against its civilians without responding - and when it does respond it’s blamed for being stronger than those who attacked Israeli civilians first.

Not only that but even Jews without Israeli nationality are attacked around the world, and the very same people claiming only to object to Israel’s actions rush to explain that of course Jews everywhere must expect to be blamed for Israel’s action or just existence.

It’s bizarre. Almost as though there was a special level of hatred for Israelis and Jews generally.

If only there was a word for that.

Israel has the right to defend itself, i don't think too many people would disagree with that idea.

What is Israel is doing though is far beyond that, bombing schools, hospitals, targeting medical workers, journalists, the torture of detainies.

Why are you going back to the 1960s/70s As if it is somehow relevant to the actions of the current Israeli government and what they do. Because it's not and using it as some sort of justification for Israel's actions in Palestine and Lebanon makes no sense and less sense on this thread which is discussing the death penalty for Palestinian detainees.

This has been explained to you but I’ll repeat: Egypt and Jordan both ATTACKED Israel, lost land, and despite that, Israel have back the land they’d lost in exchange for Egypt and Jordan committing to no longer attacking Israel.

And since then, Israel has never attacked Egypt or Jordan. It has only attacked those who have attacked Israel.

There’s just no comparison with Russia which was not under attack by Ukraine, Poland or China when it invaded Ukraine.

With recent reports about the extent of the sexual violence towards Palestinians in detention it isn't really surprising that Israel want to escalate from raping people to killing them is it? Palestinians are not being treated as humans by the IDF by any stretch of the imagination, it's difficult to see that there will be much objection to this when there has been very little objection to Palestinian people being subjected extreme sexual violence.

Al Jazeera and the Irish Times - that’ll be a totally objective account of events in Syria. (Hint: there’s practically a civil war going on there still, with the government murdering civilians in many areas. Israel has been asked by Israeli Druze to help the Syrian Druze from being murdered by the regime as Christians, Alawites and other minorities are in various regions in Syria)
