I'm not sure what circles you are in that think Trump chumming up with Israel and starting a war is a rational thing to do but it is certainly what very few British think.

Why? I mean, I'm glad you want to be part of the EU but every state has the right to its own stance on exactly how far up Trump's rectum they want to crawl.

The Americans ie Trump haven't been very supportive over Ukraine and threats from Russia.

I disagree, as does my veteran husband who has actually seen real conflict. Trump is not a sane individual. Its like putting fireworks in the hands of an irresponsible child.

Both Trump and Netanyahu are very good at pretending international law doesn’t apply to them - it’s something they both have in common with the Iranians (and the Russians, and North Korea…). US meddling in international politics just about always goes pear-shaped, and is seldom done for the sake of the local oppressed population. In this case follow the oil. Or Trump’s hurt feelings about not getting the Nobel Prize. Don’t be naive.

Trump was doing a deal with Iran and they backed out. Basically they said no and he didn’t like it.

Most Brits disagree with you. It isn’t cowardice not to jump at every latest whim from America like their little lap dog. We did this in Afghanistan and Iraq and we’ve seen no loyalty from Trump’s administration for that, despite what that cost us.

I'm glad we aren't directly involved but Starmer has now said that the UK will allow the US to use our bases specifically for defence purposes. France and Germany have also agreed to this.

I think if the UK were directly involved in strikes this would only serve to widen the conflict. Last thing the world needs right now.

I don’t know what I think and I’m glad I don’t have to make a decision. It worries me when people have such strong opinions without being fully in formed or having a deep understanding of the situation.

I know that Iran shouldn’t have names and treats its own people appallingly. I also know that trump ripped up the previous deal and is an unreliable negotiator. I fear that trump and his yes men enjoy the excitement of war and demonstrating their power. I’m not sure there is a clear plan for what happens next. I do think that Starmer is pathetic but maybe not committing either way isn’t the worst idea. I suspect he’ll end up pleasing no one and annoying everyone (based on previous history).

I think we should not be involved - whilst I think the regime is abhorrent we do not have a right to start invading nations. I think Keir Starmer should not have offered use of our bases either - I think half giving way to Trump is the worse of both worlds. We should not rush into a war that is illegal

I dislike Starmer, but I think he does right to keep us out of this.
Trump has his own agenda for the middle east, which I doubt very much is based on "humanitarian aid for the oppressed masses." Trump is only mad at Starmer because he has finally shown a bit of backbone and refused to join in with Trump's bully boy tactics.
I wouldn't even allow Trump use of British bases overseas. His contempt for NATO has been clear . Let him ask his "Board of Peace" members for assistance instead before dragging the UK into it.

If you need to ask that you must have been blind to what the Iranian regime has been doing for more years than I can remember,
both to their own citizens and by exporting terror throughout the ME and elsewhere, including the UK where only last year 20 terrorist attacks were foiled. That was reported yesterday.
