Seven Muslim-majority countries agree to join Trump's Board of Peace

Seven countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt say they will join US president Donald Trump's Board of Peace, according to a joint statement.

They will join Israel, which also publicly confirmed its participation earlier on Wednesday.

The group of Muslim-majority countries named in the statement are Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Qatar.

As for other countries better it’s a mix as you say.

Egypt, Jordan and Indonesia, (UAE has agreed too I think) are probably quite good, the rest not so much. Pakistans military are intimately tied with terrorism, Saudi seems to have pivoted to the Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar, well yeah.

Saudi I agree but otoh how does that fit with Abdullah's Vision 2030? I thought he was finally cracking down on Wahhabism to avoid upsetting the West?

I don't see any point in this board other than personal enrichment of Trump at 1 billion dollars a piece membership fees payable to him. According to the board charter, all members have a vote, but that can be vetoed by Trump as the chairperson.

Will lessen the automatic criticism anyway.

Though I imagine they still are all just doing it for money/power. Maybe I’ve become too cynical though.

I would also think, for Muslim countries, there will be a strong element of helping fellow Arabs - not least as their populations will want to see help provided.

I hope they provide strong advocacy for the Palestinians.

Definitely think it’s better that Muslim countries are involved too.
