Seven countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt say they will join US president Donald Trump's Board of Peace, according to a joint statement.

They will join Israel, which also publicly confirmed its participation earlier on Wednesday.

The group of Muslim-majority countries named in the statement are Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Qatar.

Are you comparing October 7 to the Warsaw Ghetto?

Do you accept that Hamas are terrorists who rape and murder civilians?

If it's not an allegory what is it? It seems like you're directly comparing Hamas to the Jewish resistance and Israel to the Nazis. And also October 7th to the Warsaw Uprising. Which is completely sick if that is what you're saying.

@PigletJohn there is no point debating with someone who doesn’t accept that Hamas had a deliberate policy of building tunnels & deliberately hiding underneath civilian buildings. A tunnel network bigger than the London underground. They did it so that the buildings would have to be destroyed in order to reach them, with the huge impact this would have on civilian buildings & deaths.

Very different from the Israeli army having buildings in Tel Aviv & other cities. They are not hiding underneath them.

I would have thought even the most ardent pro Palestinian supporter would accept that Hamas & their tunnels have caused huge problems for the people of Gaza & contributed to the devastation we see above.

I see you see something noble in the “uprising” whereas I only see a bunch of terrorists with a lust to murder & rape.

Exactly. Every country has army bases with homes some way away. That isn't the same as human shielding as Hamas is doing.

The Warsaw Ghetto fighters didn't rape and murder civilians.

If Egypt had opened the Rafah crossing, people could have escaped..

I'm a bit confused. In this analogy, are Hamas the Jewish resistance during the Warsaw ghetto uprising and Israel the Nazis?

"I see you see something noble in the “uprising” whereas I only see a bunch of terrorists with a lust to murder & rape."

A very harsh and unsympathetic comment on the photos of the Warsaw Ghetto I provided to illustrate my point,

I didn't comment on the photos you provided.

I made a comment about Hamas who some see as freedom fighters but I see as terrorists.

"the most ardent pro Palestinian supporter"

I am not a pro palestinian supporter.

I am a person opposed to racist genocide and the deliberate destruction of a nation.

I see you choose to characterise people with whom you disagree.

I'm sure you have characterised me in your mind too if you can be honest. And probably worse than just pro Israel.

""What you actually referred to though was Israel's deletion of Palestine which is why I pointed out that Israel hasn't deleted Palestine."

You might consider adding the word "yet" to your rebuttal.

The process is under way, has has been for 70 years.

I did not say it was complete.

The military occupation is complete.

The imposition of undemocratic colonial military law is complete

The removal of sovereignty is complete

The displacement of the population and annexation of land is mostly completed.

"What you actually referred to though was Israel's deletion of Palestine which is why I pointed out that Israel hasn't deleted Palestine."

There are still traces of it left that have not yey been destroyed or annexed. All of it is under Israeli military occupation, and has been for many years, including the walled-in outdoor prison camp which is now being destroyed by the Israeli army. Hospitals, homes, cemeteries, roads, sewage works, museums, places of worship, water supplies, schools, refugee camps, UN bases. It is Israels intention to make it uninhabitable,

You cannot pretend that the policies and actions of the state of Israel are opinions of a few extremists.

If you think that one of my claims is untrue, feel free to try to disprove it.

I have already said which of your claims I feel to be untrue which is the one where you referred to Israel's deletion of Palestine.

Palestine/Palestinians have not been deleted and while the infrastructure of Gaza has been largely destroyed by the war, I blame Hamas more than the IDF for that. They started a war and then chose to hide amongst and underneath civilian buildings as per your list of hospitals, homes, places of worship etc.

From what I heard from the King and Government of Jordan during the conflict I'm pleased they are involved. Unfortunately it still seems like the Donald Trump show with members picked on his whim rather than who is most capable of making a difference.

Twiglets1 · 26/01/2026 16:51

@PigletJohn it's an extreme position to hold that Palestinians don't exist, and I don't deny that some Israeli extremists have expressed that view, most recently Smotrich.

I wouldn't have denied it if you had phrased it that some Israelis deny that Palestine exists or that there are Palestinians.

What you actually referred to though was Israel's deletion of Palestine which is why I pointed out that Israel hasn't deleted Palestine.

I don't think it's fair to hold the whole of Israel guilty for the comments of extremists. It's certainly not the case that all Israelis want to delete Palestine. Some of them are in favour of a 2 state solution.

If we used such blanket terms with Palestinians we would say they all want to destroy Jews because that's what some of their extremists say. But that wouldn't be fair either.

PigletJohn · 26/01/2026 16:35

Many Israelis deny that Palestine exists or that there are Palestinians.

As well as invading Palestine, and encroaching on the borders of Gaza, Israeli government-supported colonists have continued to take possession of West Bank Palestine, demolishing homes, attacking farms, destroying crops, fields and olive groves, and building roads to link the Jewish settlements that divide remaining Palestinian farms and villages from each other.

Israel build roads in Palestine that Israelis are allowed to walk or drive down, and Palestinians are not.

Can you see a pattern here? Everybody else can.

Israel hasn't deleted Palestine.

The IDF has killed Palestinians yes, and Hamas has killed Israelis.

That is what happens in wars.

Was it racist genocide when the UK & their allies were at war with Germany? An awful lot of people got killed on both sides including civilian women and children.

Unsurprisingly, there are people who criticise racist genocide.

Not all Jewish people support Israel's racist genocide, but Netanyahu's regime characterises those who don't as traitors or "self-hating Jews."

The message that it is the duty of all Jews to support racist genocide does not come from the critics.

Naturally, not all Jewish people support what the Israel government is doing in the Gaza war. This is unsurprising since they are individuals and able to express opposition to government leaders, unlike the Palestinian people. Plenty of opposition to Netanyahu and his government, particularly against the more extremist element. But it's a huge stretch from valid criticism to accusations of "racist genocide".

I haven't seen any Jewish people describe it as "racist genocide" - not saying definitely none have as how would I know? - but it is hardly a common position for Jewish people to take. It seems more common for Jewish criticism against the Israeli government to focus on saying the Israeli response has been disproportionate or they object to the Settlers or they feel upset about the humanitarian aid shortages we have seen.
