RAF hitting terror targets in Syria

In December, the US launched strikes in Syria to "eliminate ISIS fighters, infrastructure, and weapons sites".

The MoD said RAF Typhoon FGR4s, supported by a Voyager refuelling tanker, joined French aircraft in a joint strike on the underground facility.

"Our aircraft used Paveway IV guided bombs to target a number of access tunnels down to the facility; whilst detailed assessment is now underway, initial indications are that the target was engaged successfully," the statement added.

No civilians around the area. However, taking out a suspected weapons stockpile sounds a very good use of the RAF and French airforce did good.

@TheMerryJoker thats pretty much always the case. Celebrating the bombing if anyone regardless of if you support the aims of one side or the other isn’t something any mature adult should be doing. It is always a failure when things have got to violence to support your cause, always.

but the problem is half the time the other side only want war and not any way to be diplomatic etc, of everyone would just talk and keep the peace it would cost a lot less but the problem is with some groups is the whole we are right you are wrong or its there way or the highway

Taking out bases with equipment might ultimately save lives since ISIS have less weapons. Obviously, there are some that will cry for the loss of weapons which they use on their own people as well as in anyone that they like.

Honestly, you’re in the wrong here. As far as we know, nobody’s even been killed in this strike, and most likely many lives have been saved!

I too find it hard to know what’s going on when I read about people cheering on bombing and happily describing whole groups of people as less than human. There seems to be such limited understanding of even very basic ideas like not killing each other. The true privilege is the room to find other ways of solving conflict.

You could always go there, to the ISIS base, and ask to have a chit chat over a cup of tea. Let the professionals know how you get on.

Yes we all have the utter privilege of not having been born in any of these places. The vast majority of mumsnet would be dead or a slave under their system. An isis couple in Germany were prosecuted for tying up a five year old girl and leaving her in their courtyard to die of dehydration. Because they see anyone who’s not them as literally nothing better than animals. They are supremacists. If these were white supremacists mumsnet doing exactly the same thing to non whites mumsnet would accurately be able to identify them as the dregs of humanity. Need to get it into everyones heads that supremacists are not always white or western.

I honestly don’t know what the hell is going on these days, so much sympathy for dictators, terrorists and general bastards. So little for their victims. I don’t really understand it, it’s like we are terrified of having a moral compass incase we look like we aren’t kind enough or civilised enough.

Anyway, I’m very happy to see something being done and I hope they’re wiped out eventually. They’re evil and terrorise people for the slightest infraction, it’s a death cult. Taliban’s Afghanistan looks like a functioning country in comparison to the world these ‘people’ want.

It’s much easier to live your life if you start from a position that all people are equal, and killing them is wrong. If only someone we respected and trusted had written down a basic set of rules about how to behave, then even if we really lost our way we could think about why these things were held to be so important.

I mean, obviously they are people, but in any case it’s their weapons that have been targeted on this occasion. So pretty good news I’d say.

They are Isis, the same people who beheaded people, sold and raped young girls, executed christians, murdered yazidi, caged people and set fire to them (quite regularly). In Raqqa they crucified a young boy for breaking fast during Ramadan, I unfortunately came across a video published by a Raqqa based resistance group of shooting some poor middle aged woman in the head in the street for adultery. I remember a video of Isis members sitting around waiting for their turn at raping a girl, laughing and joking while you could hear her screaming in the background. Not a single one of the, thought they were doing anything wrong.

They are trash, couldn’t give a shiny shit if they get bombed. There are some people you cannot negotiate with.
