I do think it would be good to move this thread or even have another one like this on one of the main boards. Some posters have posted some useful links to help understand the history of the conflict better which would have a wider reach elsewhere. I have been trying to read each one posted on here.

I posted it here because Sudan is now considered part of the Middle East.

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA), also referred to as West Asia and North Africa (WANA) or South West Asia and North Africa (SWANA), is a geographic region which comprises the Middle East (also called West Asia) and North Africa together.

Therefore, I posted here. Also, I noted many on the main boards chose MN for light relief and complain when stories such of this are posted on main boards and moved.

I could start a new one there to see, but leave this here for the people who are interested since its an ongoing conflict in the middle east.

Good points, @SomeoneSomewheree . I read the BBC news website background information, which was really useful, but some of these links have been very informative, thanks to those posters.

There was a post before this and I agreed with it. It's no longer there. I believe that when someone completely deletes their account posts go since several years ago I left completely and when I returned my posts weren't showing. Please check with MN, I'm really not going mad talking to myself. However, reading these awful stories of mass killing doesn't help.

Most definitely war crimes. The UN have called it an "indiscriminate massacre" .

The UN secretary general's office condemn "indiscriminate attacks' in El Fasher.

I am following this story more closely than ever. The stories coming out of El Fasher from survivors are awful. The dead are literally everywhere along the roads out. The Rapid Support Forces have control, to do so they didn't need to rape and torture though.

I think IMO that the US in particular has turned inwards and mainly ignores these type of massacre now. Many reasons but past mistakes and heavy criticism for getting involved means they don't bother now. So the people are left to it. Which means huge numbers of innocent people are wiped out.

Since Trump was elected there is a lack.of interest in supporting some countries.

So now the killing can go on and on without the most powerful country in the world being interested. So no one cares, no one stops it. When people talk of interference from 'the West' then lack of interference or interest can be worse.

But is anyone putting pressure on UAE or any other country that is supplying the weapons? Or putting pressure on these horror to stop? I have not spotted much, at all.
When the curtain fully falls on this we may find that these two armies killed more people than Stalin did! Plus the displaced, raped, injured, starved and traumatised.

Sudan was not considered part of the Middle East a while back ( when I was in school), but it is consider so by some many classifications these days. Search MENA.

The situation is appalling and hopefully those responsible will face justice as all those who carry out war crimes should

Because the pro-Israeli posters on this site seem to think that these conflicts are just things they can use to score points.

And, yes, I do think we have to stop selling weapons to murderous regimes, whether they be located in Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv or elsewhere. No "but the economy!". I don't want my potholes fixed with blood money!

By the way UAE are funding weapons so Arabs heavily involved. Seems UK weapons to UAE end up there. That needs stopping.

I have answered your question, whats your motivation for moaning about this thread? It's appalling slaughter of innocents, it's possible to have empathy and sorrow for what happens in many countries at the same time. If it doesn't interest you or bother you, please scroll on by.

I did not moan about your thread I simply asked what your motivation was in posting regarding Sudan which is in Africa on the Conflict in the Middle East thread, the conflict in Sudan is both appalling and worthy of attention you would probably get more traffic on the main board

War, destruction, deaths in Africa have never been a media priority.
Rwanda's genocide was rarely mentioned in the media.
It's a lot more likely to be racism rather than "no jews, no news".
