Israel Hasn’t Released Any of the Child Hostages it Has Kidnapped

Israel hasn't released any of the child hostages it has kidnapped. Israel still holds 323 Palestinian children- Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP). As of March 31, 2025, the Israel Prison Service reported that 323 Palestinian children were detained in Israeli prisons. Of these, 119 children (37%) were held in administrative detention without charge or trial- the highest number and proportion on record since DCIP began monitoring these figures in 2008.

I also wanted to highlight some concerning facts about Palestinian children in Israeli detention, based on verified reports from human rights organisations.

  • As of June 2025, around 360 Palestinian children are being held in Israeli prisons. About 41% are in administrative detention, meaning they’re held without charge or trial — the highest proportion recorded since 2008 (DCI-Palestine).
  • Many face serious abuse: 86% report being beaten, 69% subjected to strip searches, and 42% sustained injuries during arrest (Save the Children).
  • Allegations include verbal abuse, threats, and physical and psychological violence (DCI-Palestine).
  • The UN has raised serious concerns about ill-treatment and torture in detention facilities, including Sde Teiman (OHCHR).

These children are entitled to protection under international law, yet reports show repeated violations of their rights.

Seriously?!!!!!

Would you like your teens held by a bunch of IDF or in Israeli jail?

Rather than being used as child soldiers/sacrifices for Hamas.

Absolutely.

Seriously!!!!!

Ah, Netanyahu’s benevolent state. Obviously. Why did that not occur to me?

🙄

Hamas don’t seem worried about them.

None requested for release in the prisoner exchange.

Has it occurred to you that Israel may be detaining these teenagers to keep them safe if they’ve been recruited as Hamas child soldiers?

Makes sense to me. Longer Israel holds them, the less chance of them being killed?

I was quite clearly trying to make a point about the imagery of children in the OPs post where she could have just said teenagers or teenage children aged 14 and above as opposed to what people immediately think of as children as being from toddler age onwards.
but the rest of the world does not read the word “children” and think preschooler or toddler. Most people, in the uk at least, would easily tell you that a child is a human less than 18 years old. To be clear Teenagers are NOT adults which is why they do not have adult status.

14 is a child by anyone’s definition.

You parented based on height? You allowed your children all the freedoms of adulthood and stopped caring for them once they reached 5ft8?

More hyperbole.

You just had to read the rest of my sentence to clear that up.

14 year olds (and younger even) are certainly old enough to commit crimes, train for and be recruited for terrorism though. Hamas thinks so too.

Would you feel the same if they were Muslims planning an attack on a church? My question is why should one group of children be treated differently based in where they are born? These men became terrorists because of islamaphobic attitudes. I could carry on all day but I believe that if you claim to be educated enough to understand the history behind Israel and Palestine then you are capable of researching this yourself. When we look at terrorism there is a hyper focus on the last 20 years. Britain has killed many civilians and whipped up hatred in the last 20 years. If we look over the last 50 years, things are very different in terms of terrorism in Britain and who the perpetrators were. The bottom line is that hatred doesn't create peace.

I'm really interested to hear why and how you came to this statement? Is this what you believe? Why do you believe this?

Glad that they got arrested before they could go through with their plans? Sure!

No, it’s based on what they’ve done. If you are going to try to kill people, then you belong in prison. For a very long time.

Except if you are Israeli right? Then you get a pat on the back from the same army that is detaining and torturing children for throwing stones at armoured vehicles. You'd be a bit hard pressed to kill someone by throwing stones at a tank but battering an old woman as she tries to harvest her olives, well it remains to be seen if she will live.

Looks like these three were preparing acts of terrorism (luckily, they didn’t actually get to do it). They were arrested, charged with terrorism-related and firearms offenses and recently convicted.
So how does that relate to your pp where you said: “Many Brits have commited acts of terrorism, so should our children be kidnapped and treated as adults once they reach a certain height?”

Would you like a list of Islamic terrorists vs non-Islamic terrorists in the UK over the last two decades?
Its'.... not going to be an even split between Column A and Column B, to put it mildly.

You seem to be pitting Britain with any Islamic terrorist. If you want a fair comparison try comparing them against Christians. Hatred breeds terrorism.

Exactly.

Not sure if mentioning an islamist attack really supports your point about the “many terror acts committed by Brits”.

Absolutely ALL children’s lives are sacred and to be protected which is why it is absolutely beyond belief that Palestinian children have been indoctrinated into a terrorist death cult to aspire to die as a martyrs by killing Jews, and also used as human shields and pawns in a religious war for the past 60 years and no one has ever cared, not the UN, not NGOs in the region, not Western useful idiots who’s support of Palestinian terrorism is merely a front for their hatred of Jews or they would have been calling for an end to Palestinian children living in those circumstances.

The youngest Palestinian under an ADO is 14, according to this report.

https://www.dci-palestine.org/israeliforcesissueadministrativedetentionorderagainstyoungestpalestinianchildonrecord

Although a 12 year old girl is the youngest Palestinian to be convicted of attempted murder by stabbing. Not classed as a detainee though as arrested in the act.

Don’t you think it’s disgusting that a 12 old girl was indoctrinated to do this? Should she have been let go with a firm ‘you must not do that’ because of her age?

From reports I’ve read there are multiple accounts of children being sent on attacks like this. Sick!

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/apr/26/palestinian-girl-12-freed-from-israeli-jail

Edited

The illegal settlers are equally guilty of grooming and indoctrinating their children.

Both are heinous and need to be stopped.
