Why? Some posters claiming people have been banned purely because they are Jewish and it’s a purely anti-Semitic decision. No other reason at all, apparently. Read the thread, it’s actually there. Would that not include local Jewish residents/supporters, were that the truth?

Is it right that a council should be able to decide that a group of people are not welcome within its confines?

Because this isn’t about a bunch of football hooligans duffing up a rival team, but the concern that there will be rioting and disorder on the streets because of supporters’ religion .

No. Because someone has just popped up and claimed the “reason given” (by whom? Certainly not the Chief Constable) that a cohort of fans, many of whom have been violent on many occasions, have a reputation for it, there for all to see from numerous credible sources, have been banned only because they are Israeli or Jewish, nothing whatsoever to do with a proven track record of just that. Demonstrably nonsense and illegal at that. As the police would be perfectly well aware.

I don't think it will be. The police would be unable to contain the rioting. They obviously appreciate there is a clear danger from opponents for the small number of Israeli fans that would attend. I'm not surprised at all they've said they can't do it.

The police based the decision on intelligence provided by UEFA, but yes, do continue to willfully disregard all known facts about MTA as nonsense. You cannot see what's right in front of your face.

Unfortunately we have imported sectarianism. Birmingham now being majority Muslim and the police in any area is required to reflect its population. And knows it is unable to protect the Jewish fans and has banned them from the match unsurprisingly, because the rioting would probably be monumental.

The ridiculous thing is the organisers didn't see this coming.

You’re clinging to the belief that the ban was all about violence from Jewish fans. Others, like me, are saying you have no evidence for that at all.

If the police ban fans because their presence would upset people and the upset people will provoke violence, then I totally understand the police’s position. They’re in the frontline. They’d prefer peace and quiet. But it is still an outrage to ban (Jewish) people because of others’ hatred of them.

Just no reasoning with some people who have very clearly made up their mind based on their own sympathies and will not be budged from it regardless of any evidence.

Please show me the statement from the Chief Constable where he said the ban was because these people were Israel or Jewish and nothing to do with their violent track record.
