Why would would you still have pro Palestinian marches apart from now instilling more fear into the Jewish community

Now we have what looks like a peace to be celebrated why are people still going to march for Palestine? The genocide has stopped in their opinion so shouldn't they be at least joyful or if that is not the case what do they really want? Do they want to keep marching until the Israeli state is no more?

A Palestinian doctor who said the 7 October Hamas attacks represented the day Israel was “humiliated” has been re-referred to a medical tribunal.
Dr Rahmeh Aladwan, a trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, was investigated by an interim orders tribunal in September over her social media posts.
On 25 September the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) ruled it would not impose interim restrictions against Aladwan, saying it did not believe the complaints against her were “sufficient to establish that there may be a real risk to patients”.
Her lawyer argued that Aladwan was exercising her freedom of speech to oppose crimes by Israel, including those identified by the UN. He told the regulator she was a Palestinian doctor with an impeccable clinical record and was, herself, a direct victim of genocide and of dispossession.
The General Medical Council (GMC) has now re-referred Aladwan for another interim orders tribunal while it continues its investigation.
The GMC can make such a referral where it believes an interim order may be needed owing to immediate risk to public protection.
Aladwan’s recent posts on X include: “October 7. The day Israel was humiliated. Their supremacy shattered at the hands of the children they forced out of their homes. The children who watched foreign jews execute their loved ones, rape their land and live on their stolen soil.”
Earlier this week the Campaign Against Antisemitism accused Aladwan of waging a “campaign of hatred against British Jews”. It also threatened to launch a legal challenge against last month’s decision not to censure her. It said: “It is inconceivable that a Jewish person would feel safe receiving treatment from this doctor.”
On Wednesday, the health secretary, Wes Streeting, said “sickening comments” had no place in the NHS “and action needs to be taken to root the evil of racism out”. Streeting also said he would overhaul the way medical regulators investigate cases of antisemitism.
The interim orders tribunal hearing will take place on 23 October.

Would you support that kind of “free speech” directed at any other minority?

As for the tribunal ruling, Wes Streeting seems to think the way medical regulators investigate cases of antisemitism needs an overhaul, so that’s good news.

A doctor with an impeccable clinical record can still be a raging antisemite.

Don't affect her work? She's an antisemite who may treat Jewish patients, how does that not effect her work?

A little while ago a couple of nurses in Australia were suspended after they were filmed saying they would kill Israeli patients. Is that a freedom of speech issue too? Would you be happy being treated with someone who held racist views towards you?

It's an obsession with the Jewish conspiracy theory. Proper headline anti-Semitism; that there's a Cabal of Jews controlling the press and the economy worldwide. It was popular in the Russian Empire at the end of the 19thC and then was co-opted by the Nazis. Frequently used by Hamas and similar groups.

She never said she spoke for all jewish people, she just mentioned that she herself is jewish. Criticising her for mentioning her religion seems like a way of shutting down dialogue and preventing her from having a voice, can someone not have a different world view to you if they are also jewish. Given that many people have expressed on these threads that they believe people attending marches are anti semitic I believe her religion to be very relevant. Interestingly you haven’t criticised anyone for mentioning their religion who is opposed to the marches.

I think you mentioned before that you are living in Israel, apologies if I am wrong. But in the UK there are a large number of jewish people who take part in the protest marches and a number of jewish people that are opposed to them.

I have never claimed to speak for all Jewish people, I acknowledge I'm something of a minority; I just want to make sure that people hear a variety of Jewish voices.

I do think the Israeli government is being hypocritical about recovery of the bodies. Of course their families should be able to bury their loved ones with dignity. But it's obviously going to be hard to find them under the circumstances.

Just googled it and this came up:

Mosab Hassan Yousef, in his autobiography Son of Hamas and various interviews, described witnessing brutal treatment of Hamas prisoners during his time in an Israeli prison in 1996. Specifically, he saw Hamas members torturing and killing fellow Palestinian prisoners they suspected of collaborating with Israel. He recounted how Hamas prisoners set up "courts" within the prison to interrogate and punish suspected informants, often using extreme violence.

It’s quite a while since he was imprisoned in an Israeli prison of course, but still.

Personally, I marched on Saturday because there is only a ceasefire - this is not peace and Gaza needs aid urgently. The Israeli government needs to know the world is watching and they are already huffing about bodies not being returned when they know those bodies can't be recovered because they have bombed Gaza to ashes.

And as a Jew I am sick of ersatz concerns for our 'safety' being used to shut down criticism of a government that is commiting atrocities and resting of the defence that it is somehow in my name as a Jew and like this is the only way to keep ourselves safe. People need to keep protesting until there is genuine peace and safety for the people of Gaza and Palestine as a whole.

Personally, I marched on Saturday because there is only a ceasefire - this is not peace and Gaza needs aid urgently. The Israeli government needs to know the world is watching and they are already huffing about bodies not being returned when they know those bodies can't be recovered because they have bombed Gaza to ashes.

And as a Jew I am sick of ersatz concerns for our 'safety' being used to shut down criticism of a government that is commiting atrocities and resting of the defence that it is somehow in my name as a Jew and like this is the only way to keep ourselves safe. People need to keep protesting until there is genuine peace and safety for the people of Gaza and Palestine as a whole.
