Hamas targeting groups and clans in Gaza

Hamas appears to be preparing to exact vengeance on those opposed to its rule in Gaza. This will come in the form of mafia-like murders of those Hamas claims are “collaborators.” It will target clans and groups that have shown opposition to Hamas. It will also target those that have worked with Israel, or who it accuses of working with Israel.

A Telegram channel linked to Hamas said the group would target “collaborators.”

The BBC reported that “Hamas recalls 7,000 fighters to reassert control over Gaza as fears of renewed internal violence emerge following the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The mobilisation has been widely anticipated as uncertainty grows about who will govern Gaza once the war ends - this is a key sticking point for later phases of Trump's plan.”

Hamas has long used mafia-like gangland tactics to keep people in check in Gaza. This goes back to how the group emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Hamas leaders such as Yahya Sinwar were known for brutally murdering “collaborators” back then. Sinwar is dead but his tactics live on. Hamas has lost a lot of its larger weapons but it retains AK-47s and can use them to murder people. Videos have already emerged of Hamas allegedly murdering people.

The brutality of the organization has also been revealed in a New York Times article that shows how Sinwar and Hamas planned to murder Israelis and burn communities on October 7.

I very much agree that people would love to feed the Gazan population without any of the aid benefitting Hamas. Sadly, that doesn't make it one of the options available to us, in the areas they control at least.

I think they are all still in Gaza, never left, just hid amongst the population.

I'm quite sure that's the case!

They will all be fighting amongst themselves before any agreement is signed on Monday
the Gazan people need to rise up against this , not sure how , unless they do it will be an endless cycle

I don’t think they have the capability against terrorists with weapons and tunnels.

I’m sorry to tell you this but it was Hamas starving them. Hamas is the problem here. Always was.

Of course Hamas are a problem.
Sadly for the people in Gaza they are not the only problem.

How did 7000 Hamas operatives get across the border without anyone noticing?

🙄
The word recalled suggests they weren't in Gaza but that's just my interpretation of it I'll of course wait for the facts and read the article I can see has now been posted on it.

This is terrible. I don’t know how you’d deal with this.

People don't want to give aid to Hamas they want to feed the people Israel deliberately starved.

The existence of Hamas doesn't make it ok to starve a population.

Well they can't have been in buildings as I thought they had all been flattened?

Frankly, who'd want to give multi millions in aid to Hamas so they can rearm themselves and steal it all.

That's why everyone wants Hanas gone, well, apart from their supporters , hamas themselves, Iran and Hezbollah, the Houthis etc....

Have a strong suspicion that what Hamas will do on Monday is hand over the hostages. But what they won't do is hand over their weapons.

So many countries have expressed willingness to help rebuild Gaza. But I think that could change if it becomes obvious that Hamas won't leave or demilitarise.

Agree. Difficult for them though if Hamas still have 7000 fighters to call on. More moderate Palestinian people need help, hence the US soldiers?

This is all so desperately sad. Those poor Palestinians have been through so much already.

With Hamas finding 7000 fighters seemingly quite easily the troubles with Hamas aren't over yet

Hamas has recalled about 7,000 members of its security forces to reassert control over areas of Gaza recently vacated by Israeli troops, according to local sources.

The Palestinian group also appointed five new governors all with military backgrounds, some of whom previously commanded brigades in its armed wing.

The mobilisation order was reportedly issued via phone calls and text messages which said the aim was to "cleanse Gaza of outlaws and collaborators with Israel" and told fighters to report within 24 hours.

Reports from Gaza suggest that armed Hamas units have already deployed across several districts, some wearing civilian clothes and others in the blue uniforms of the Gaza police.

Tensions rose sharply and quickly after two members of Hamas's elite forces were shot dead by gunmen from the powerful Dughmush clan in Gaza City's Sabra neighbourhood. One of them was the son of a senior commander in Hamas's armed wing, Imad Aqel, who now heads the group's military intelligence.

Half you a link for this? Were they in the tunnels? Recalled from where?

Edited

Its on the BBC news channel. Rolling across the bottom of the screen. I can't link my TV. Do you have a TV? Channel 503, its a repeated headline on the channel

Nobody cares about about the Palestinians killing each other
And you know that how?

People are extremely concerned about what happens in Gaza and how it is going to be managed and supported in the aftermath of the past two years. Civil unrest is a huge possibility and the vast majority of people do not and never wanted Hamas to remain in Gaza.

Frank Gardener highlights the issues well:

Frank Gardner
Security correspondent

The big question is how is security going to prevail in Gaza once this first phase is complete? It's a part of the world that has been absolutely shattered over the last two years.

We're already seeing growing signs of the risks of civil conflict turning up.

Hamas has reportedly mobilised thousands of its fighters to kind of establish law and order, to stop rival clans trying to take over areas.

To try to stop anarchy, basically.

What is supposed to happen is there's going to be a civil military co-ordination centre set up inside Israel. I believe it's in Ashdod and the US is going to have a couple of hundred troops involved in logistics.

That will oversee an international force that is presumed to be made up of Qatari, Egyptian, Turkish and possibly UAE troops, who are not going to be there to do any fighting.

They're more there as a monitoring ceasefire force. It's called the International Stabilisation Force.

notice there’s radio silence from all the “pro Palestinian” lot about this,
Personally I think people are just fed up engaging with certain posters on these threads and steer clear. The majority of pro Palestinian voices I've seen on this thread all expressed concern with the peace deal and lack of detail in it and what could come after for Gaza, they were told they were being too negative. Can't win.

I would hope that these people also wish the Israelis peace too, but I doubt it. Let’s see if the protests continue but against Hamas to free the Palestinians. I also doubt it. You may need to face the fact that we already know which is that it’s never been about the Palestinians.

Ihatetomatoes · 12/10/2025 13:44

Hamas has reportedly mobilised thousands of its fighters to kind of establish law and order, to stop rival clans trying to take over areas.😂 Seriously, Hamas, who wants them to try to pretend to be 'the good guys' establish law and order by terrorists, well their own warped version of it, so basically they are staying put. Rinse repeat.

Apparently the tunnels were too awful for civilians to shelter in but 7000 fighters were fine.

Totally this!
