Hamas targeting groups and clans in Gaza

Hamas appears to be preparing to exact vengeance on those opposed to its rule in Gaza. This will come in the form of mafia-like murders of those Hamas claims are “collaborators.” It will target clans and groups that have shown opposition to Hamas. It will also target those that have worked with Israel, or who it accuses of working with Israel.

A Telegram channel linked to Hamas said the group would target “collaborators.”

The BBC reported that “Hamas recalls 7,000 fighters to reassert control over Gaza as fears of renewed internal violence emerge following the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The mobilisation has been widely anticipated as uncertainty grows about who will govern Gaza once the war ends - this is a key sticking point for later phases of Trump's plan.”

Hamas has long used mafia-like gangland tactics to keep people in check in Gaza. This goes back to how the group emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Hamas leaders such as Yahya Sinwar were known for brutally murdering “collaborators” back then. Sinwar is dead but his tactics live on. Hamas has lost a lot of its larger weapons but it retains AK-47s and can use them to murder people. Videos have already emerged of Hamas allegedly murdering people.

The brutality of the organization has also been revealed in a New York Times article that shows how Sinwar and Hamas planned to murder Israelis and burn communities on October 7.

Hamas have been on a killing spree since the ceasefire, but the pro Palestinian side is silent about these deaths. No jews, no news I guess

Such a sweet custom.

I wonder how long the "pro-Pal" brigade will be able to go on saying they just want to live in peace, but Israel won't let them.

A prominent Gazan commentator posted this today:

"Hamas Scandal: Part of why the terror organization is going after multiple clans is that a particular clan in southern Gaza had members involved in securing humanitarian aid convoys near the Rafah areas, who stumbled into a despicable act of Hamas’s evil. Throughout the war, leaders and terror operatives of the group in Gaza have been taking advantage of vulnerable Palestinian women in desperate need of humanitarian aid and support by exploiting them for sexual favors, as was recently reported by the AP and confirmed by this newly revealed video, which promises to be one of many. Hamas charity heads leverage their positions to provide women with support in exchange for sexual favors. They would go on to film and take photos of the women in compromising positions to ensure they remain silent. This particular video shows Ameen Bakr AbuBakara, whom Hamas recently killed horrifically, because he caught one of their leaders in a compromising position, filmed him, and documented his scandal. Ameen did not publicize or reveal the scandal. He covered up what he encountered because he did not want the woman to face retribution in an honor-driven society where women can be killed for adultery, even in the case of rape. Instead, he promised the woman free, full support. Still, he made her pledge that she would not provide sexual favors to Hamas members or mid-level leadership in humanitarian organizations in the Gaza Strip. Once the ceasefire commenced, Hamas was keen to bury the scandal and made sure to kill Ameen to hide this disaster and many more like it. The cowardly so-called ‘journalists’ in Gaza, most of whom are directly or indirectly affiliated with Hamas or at least have the group’s approval to operate in the Strip, would never dare cover such stories, because they know what the outcome would be. Think about that the next time you hear about reporting coming out of Gaza and being touted by the fraudulent “pro-Palestine” movement, which now exists to run cover for the terrorist organization and justify its very heinous acts and evil deeds."

Appalling. A society where women can be murdered for adultery because they have been raped. There's no 'honour ' in that type of society, its despicable.

In recent decades, the only deals on the table have been where Israel maintains full security ie blockades, soldiers and this has been rejected by Palestinians (but has still happened).

I wonder why Israel felt the need for blockades?

I’m racking my brains. Didn’t something happen about 2 years ago?

The Arab nations have seen a surge in anti semitism linked to the actions of Israel in Gaza. Consequesntly they are reluctant to get involved in sending troops/keeping order without a mandate from the UN. Otherwise they could be accused of annexing Gaza in a similar way.

moremoreandthenstillmore · 13/10/2025 16:49

Trump has said he favours a deal in which both sides (Palestinians and Israel) give a bit to get a bit. In fact for issues such as these, where people are involved, not just money and property, the best way forward is to completely and fully understand the interests, POVs, positions of both sides (Palestinians and Israel) and of stake holders (funders, both sides), make sure both sides fully understand eachother in the same way, decide on a way forward which is fair and reasonable and push that through. Whether it works or not is down to the good judgement, good communication skills and good negotiation skills of the negotiators. Good outcomes are possible.
(And good levels of protection for negotiators).

Do you think the actions of Hamas are an issue rn?

Given this thread.

The actions of any group killing is an issue, obviously. This is happening all over the world. You have private groups armed to the teeth by private funders in mainland Europe. The focus should be on the two state agreement and negotiation, between Palestinians and Israel. Because that will bring peace. Hamas backers have said that this is the way forward. It is better to focus everything on that.

Hamas has said that its activities are to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians on the international level. We should be focusing on a two state solution which their backers agree to as that will logically, realistically, stop the problem.

It is obvious really. Anything else here is mere smokescreen.

So, Hamas is not the primary issue, and it won't be an issue at all if there is peace.

And to the people who say "you can't negotiate with terrorists" the same people talk about how well Blair did in the GFA - which was negotiation with terrorists. So let's stop saying that, and focus on a genuine peace negotiations which get an outcome which is fair and reasonable.

But Hamas don't hide in hospitals???

BBC seem to have the most accurate portrayal of what is happening.

Medical sources said 19 Dughmush clan members and eight Hamas fighters had been killed since fighting began on Saturday.
It looks like they are killing each other but law and order needs to be restored before it starts impacting on the civilian population. I guess this can happen when you arm Palestinian clans. There is a power vacuum and this is when international peace keeping forces are needed to oversee the aftermath of death, destruction, starvation and the breakdown of a society where nothing is currently functioning. Palestinians cannot be abandoned at a really critical time

But Hamas don't hide in hospitals???
The Dughmush Family were taking refuge in what was once a hospital obviously no longer functioning as one now:

However, a source from the Dughmush family told local media that Hamas forces had come to a building that once served as the Jordanian Hospital, where the family had taken refuge after their homes in the al-Sabra neighbourhood were destroyed in the recent Israeli attack.

Hamas are awful but it’s important to understand this www.analystnews.org/posts/how-israel-helped-prop-up-hamas-for-decades

The history plus the intentions behind both Israel and Hamas should be understood, neither want a 2 state solution so on that they agree and both want the other obliterated.

Ihatetomatoes · 13/10/2025 12:03

moremoreandthenstillmore · 13/10/2025 10:27

You aren't stating history correctly. There has not been a two state deal on the table in any genuine sense. The power groups behind Israel think that they were given the whole of Palestine in 1917 and will not accept anything less (and some have said that they want to spread out in the ME). Palestinians had the Balfour Agreement 1917 forced on them and fought against that (this is not contested history).

In recent decades, the only deals on the table have been where Israel maintains full security ie blockades, soldiers and this has been rejected by Palestinians (but has still happened).

In recent months there has been a recognition that a 2 state deal will stop the fighting, and ME supports that, Israel does not yet. The US are against the 2 state solution currently which is pretty tragic but hopefully they will realise at some point that the 2 state solution is the fairest solution and needed for peace.

Go back and look up the original proposals and proposals over time.... which kept being rejected

They're out on the streets of Gaza killing them right now!

I am not sure this is right. ME leaders have pointed out in the past that the west have ridden roughshod over their culture without understanding the consequences. But in recent months and years many in fact use the language of the west and having shown significant williness for dialogue, as long as it is on equal terms.

I think it is elements within the west being divisive. And tbf, this has been the case for most of the 20th century to the present day - look at the propaganda wars of ww1 for example!

A strong western voice in favour of a negotiated 2 state solution is all we need right now, the will meet us in the middle.

Edited

Moderates in the west have hoped for a 2 state solution for decades and often been involved in negotiations for it, which leads to accusations of interference.
The useful idiots chanting 'from the river to the sea' and 'globalise the intifada' are a noisy minority who (knowingly or otherwise) are doing more to destabilise the countries they are in than Israel. I suspect as populations grow, the line between management by consent vs management by control will shift.

It depends on who is doing the reporting - some reports are saying that Israeli armed guerilla groups are in Gaza fighting Hamas, and others say it is fake news. It is almost impossible to know what is going on. Where is the BBC getting its reports from, if they aren't there?

It's bullshit. The Doghmush clan that they're fighting were the same group that kidnapped Gilad Shalit.
It's just an instinct - lie and blame Israel. Idiots globally then lap up the lies.

Hamas isn't the problem. The problem is that there isn't international commitment to a negotiated two state solution. That is what the US should be pushing for, because without it there will never be peace.

The BBC have had local freelancers working for them in Gaza throughout the war and now.

But TBF, if it stabilises the middle east and Africa ....I do note how they treat religion on home turf as they're aware of it's potential to weaponise. Even the Buddhists of Tibet who tend to immolate to protest, have had the ability to choose their faith leader delegated to Beijing.

Middle eastern leaders seem keen in an anything but 'the west' way. If only there weren't so many people in 'the west' who felt the same way.

I agree in principle, @quantumbutterfly, but unfortunately have no real faith in China's regime to stabilise anything - at least not beyond the time it takes them to get what they want out of the situation

In global terms their involvement is relatively new, but as said, good luck in dealing with a group who the word ruthless could easily have been coined for
