Hamas targeting groups and clans in Gaza

Hamas appears to be preparing to exact vengeance on those opposed to its rule in Gaza. This will come in the form of mafia-like murders of those Hamas claims are “collaborators.” It will target clans and groups that have shown opposition to Hamas. It will also target those that have worked with Israel, or who it accuses of working with Israel.

A Telegram channel linked to Hamas said the group would target “collaborators.”

The BBC reported that “Hamas recalls 7,000 fighters to reassert control over Gaza as fears of renewed internal violence emerge following the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The mobilisation has been widely anticipated as uncertainty grows about who will govern Gaza once the war ends - this is a key sticking point for later phases of Trump's plan.”

Hamas has long used mafia-like gangland tactics to keep people in check in Gaza. This goes back to how the group emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Hamas leaders such as Yahya Sinwar were known for brutally murdering “collaborators” back then. Sinwar is dead but his tactics live on. Hamas has lost a lot of its larger weapons but it retains AK-47s and can use them to murder people. Videos have already emerged of Hamas allegedly murdering people.

The brutality of the organization has also been revealed in a New York Times article that shows how Sinwar and Hamas planned to murder Israelis and burn communities on October 7.

"All over Telegram, Hamas channels are making it clear and repeating their slogan: "We are the flood; we are the day after." Their terrorists emerged from the tunnels, and when they're not executing or shooting Gazans, they walk around markets, steal aid & impose taxes like a gang. This is not the behavior of a group that's demobilizing or deradicalizing. They are reinventing themselves are policemen and want to have a central role in the future of Gaza."

Good grief, poor Palestinians, they have no chance with this lot emerged from tunnels, fully fattened up, neat and tidy and ready to kill anyone who denies them their spoils. Imagine living next door to these. No wonder Egypt wont open the border 🙄

"Hamas's new terror unit, "Rade3'" or "the deterrer," joins its "Saham" or "arrow" unit in hunting down Gazans suspected of being opponents of its rule, kidnapping, torturing, executing, and disappearing dozens of people using vans, trucks, and SUVs. Hamas has declared all-out war on all clans, any opposition, and other families or people who are suspected of "harboring" anti-Hamas activists. This has created an unprecedented campaign of terror and fear that's got everyone worried about being executed for miscellaneous disputes because all it takes is being labeled an "Israeli collaborator" or "traitor" to be killed."

This was my fear - that a ceasefire without the majority of Hamas fighters eradicated would look something like this. I have no idea how this can be resolved; any force who tries to remove them militarily will have the exact same issues the IDF did, that they're deeply embedded in the civil fabric of the area.

Re the "Israeli-backed militias" claim - I mean who knows the actual ground truth in the swirl of propaganda, but they do seem to have popped up out of nowhere. I can imagine that Israel does have informants in Gaza (they relied heavily on informants when they did the Hezbollah pager operation, and struck strategic Iranian assets), but short of perhaps Noa Argamani's rescue, I can't see where they got much intel at least relating to the hostages, so if they are backing this militias, they didn't exactly get their money's worth on that front.

I think the most likely is that Hamas is taking a shortcut to demonising its rival gangs in Gaza. But I can already see how the narrative is being crafted - that the ongoing fighting and death in Gaza is still somehow Israel's fault.

They treat it like goodies and baddies because that’s EXACTLY what it is. Unless you think a terrorist organisation with a manufactured identity designed to destroy an entire country because it’s full of Jews is… a goodie?

Can I just say, that it gives me such comfort to read posts from you and others on this thread. People who see through the bullshit we have had to endure through the media these past 2 years. 🙌

The silence from the Pro Palestine crew is deafening. Maybe the penny is dropping…

That’s what Israel have been fighting - murderous savages. I would hope our government would take similar action against a terrorist organisation that want us destroyed. I’m not so sure with this current lot, they’d probably jail Brits for ‘being mean’ or Islamophobic, but one can only hope

I really think the sarcasm here is unnecessary. Do you mean Palestinian side? They have said that the fighting was against Israeli guerilla groups. I am not asserting that as truth, I am just saying that there has not been silence.

I find it disappointing and really sad to find all this sarcasm. It would be better to focus on what could bring peace rather than what these groups are doing.

Otherwise it just comes across that you are on an opposing side, and you want to be partisan. Which is the worst thing possible for anyone wanting peace.

‘Israeli guerrilla groups’ where is this from? Hamas? Why would people repeat it.

This.
Neither the poster's on mumsnet or the chanting marchers effect what the powers decide. Trump, currently Netanyahu and Arab leaders dont listen to this. However, radical Islamists based in the UK hear the calls for intifada merrily sung on the streets. Chilling

But it’s not. It’s a recent video. Hamas filmed themselves parading the Palestinians they murdered through Gaza.

And the “Pro-Palestine” wokifada? Absolutely silent."

INDEED. Hamas rather like parading bodies whether Israeli or Palestinian.

The latest line is that those people are "Israeli collaborators" who are being armed and paid by israel so it's all fine and justified. These people are in the grip of a mania and have to bring everything back to israel being to blame, not matter what

Two things: firstly if in a war situation you get two completely opposing sets of facts, propaganda both sides even, that is par for the course. I was responding to someone saying that the Palestinians and pro Palestinians were suddenly silent, I pointed out that this was incorrect. As for opposing sides - how do you know what the truth is? What is your source (and please don't say the BBC or the Guardian)? Does your side want war, peace, land?

Secondly, your last two paragraphs - your mindset will lead to more war, it will lead to degradation, inhumanity, deaths, destruction. It really is as simple as that. So if you want more war, degradation, inhumanity, death and destruction, then carry on as you are. If you don't, perhaps recognise that we have a rare opportunity to reach peace with the ME and support that.

You reckon that one tiny little Jewish country in the middle of about 30 Muslim ones is a recipe for peace in the Middle East? You reckon Palestinians want only Gaza and WB? You reckon that when we talk about a future Palestinian state that you know they mean “from the river to the sea”?
Finally, you want to talk about peace? Humanity? Tell me, how does supporting a state which is never mind Apartheid, but actually completely Judenfrei follow the rules of moral and ethic righteousness?
I reckon you’re looking at this through western liberal eyes and not really understanding that there will never be peace in the middle east until all the Jews bugger off to whichever antisemitic country can tolerate them. And even then after a few years there’ll be more war but nobody will be able to blame it on Israel.

The "Palestinian side" you refer to is the terrorist organisation Hamas.
And it's clan infighting, they're trying to reclaim armed power in Gaza. Anyone who believes it's "Israeli guerrilla groups" is.... well, I've seen the complete nonsense people have believed for the last two years do actually I'm not that surprised.

As for the blockade, it's an attempt to minimise the amount of rockets Hamas can make to lob into Israel. With Hamas still in situ and 7 October freah in the public mind, and the last living hostages just back, dont expect that to change soon.
The West might like indulging in suicidal empathy, Israel can't afford to.

While people are dying and starving and being blown up in Gaza, they are also talking to the Guardian and giving considered views about pros and cons of a political solution? I don't think so. Someone upthread has also talked about the BBC being there - in fact Israel would not let the press there because it was too dangerous for them and this has gone on for a while.

to respond to your point though, the ME states have said they support a 2 state solution, and it is those states which fund Hamas - you can see the significance - and the PLO has also indicated they support a 2 state solution as has Hamas leadership incidentally. ME states and people want a 2 state solution which is fair and reasonable. Only this would create peace in the region.

So that is what you should reasonably be supporting perhaps.

Forget "Pro Pal" forget "Pro Is" start "Pro 2 state solution" maybe.

The BBC have always used "trusted freelance Palestinian journalists" for it's Gaza coverage.

As in this report Three trusted freelance Palestinian journalists whom the BBC relies on for its Gaza coverage have shared how they are now struggling to feed their families and often go two days or more without eating.

The blockades have been going on for decades, not for the last two years. The blockades make life unbearable for Palestinians and continue the conflict. The solution is a negotiation around a 2 state solution which is the only thing which would lead to peace and would be fair to both peoples. I hope that clears things up for you a bit.

Maybe they could have spent the past 20 years working towards peaceful coexistence, instead of perpetually bombarding Israel with missiles? Or made the most of the liaisons they had with Israel, instead of using collaborative art projects and so on to gather information to help guide Hamas's attacks on 7/10? A two-state solution seems like the obvious sensible solution for everyone, but I'm having a really hard time picturing it, unfortunately.

In recent decades, the only deals on the table have been where Israel maintains full security ie blockades, soldiers and this has been rejected by Palestinians (but has still happened).

I wonder why Israel felt the need for blockades?
