The IDF aren’t a proscribed terrorist organisation, Hamas are.

First of all it is not relevant to ber post or the thread. It was a personal, snide remark.

Secondly Hamas is NOT equivalent to the IDF. The IDF is the legitimate army if a democratic state that is our ally. Whatever your opinion on tje conflict an official legitimate army is not equivalent to tje fighters of a proscribed terrorist organisatuin.

PC said her Rabbis son was thinking of moving to Israel and enlisting. I think she said it in the context of the rising current of antisemitism in the UK.

The poster responded that she hopes what that young man does out there will haunt him for the rest of his life.

A young man she doesn't know personally, other than that he's Jewish.

I dont think its worth going in to here all the ways that sentiment betrays the hatred and prejudice behind it. Just to imagine the same was said about anyone's young boy who expressed a wish to join the army and fight for his country.

The level of mistrust is there because Israel has never acted in a manner that shows it can be trusted. Its constant excuses for wrong bombings, its refusal to allow journalists into Gaza who can report truthfully, its claims about aid.

You may not want to agree but Israel has killed tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians just because it can. Hamas is a terror organisation, no one can expect them to have any morality and being honest, I don’t have any faith they won’t seek to break it either, but I also believe Israel will look for the smallest of act, something that isn’t from Hamas but a random Palestinian, and use that to justify more killing and murder.

Israel’s actions over the past two years have shown that it cannot be trusted. So yes, any mistrust is legitimate.

I mean it’s hardly tracking to remember memorable statements by posters…

I cant get my head around the tone of these posts.

A few weeks ago it was 'Israel ceasefire now' 'Israel will never stop til all Palestinians are dead'...

Now Israel has ceased fire, its 'Israel will break the ceasefire very soon, and will carry on regardless any moment'.

Its almost as if you want them to continue the bombing in order to validate your beliefs about them.

I cannot fathom this level of mistrust.... its almost gleeful.

We can't see the future. Both races are made of humans. Surely there's hope that both sides can find a way to make this one stick? I believe theres Palestinian and Israeli voices out there that can make it happen.

Oh yes … after Palestinian militants at the border fence launched incendiary balloons into Israel & threw an explosive at soldiers.

The 3 days of bombings in retaliation should have been a warning that Israel wouldn’t tolerate such behaviour.

I don't think they will fire first, but I think if Hamas do anything they will react way out of proportion, and probably hope that Hamas do something major enough to 'allow' them to do this.

Just google Israel bomb Gaza Sept 2023 and you will get a range of 'reputable sources'. Did you think there was a 'ceasefire' on Oct 7 too, you've posted so much on this conflict that I'm surprised you don't know the background.

Any reputable source for that claim that Israel were dropping bombs for days a few weeks prior to October 7th?

When did the ceasefire start before Oct 7? Israel were dropping bombs in Gaza for days a few weeks prior to Oct 7. Was there a ceasefire deal between then and Oct 7 or are you just repeating nonsense you have heard online?

If the hostages when returned are not in good condition the Israelis will take offence and start bombing again.

Personally I don't think there will be peace in the middle east in my lifetime. Both sides are guilty of the killing
of innocent children and adults. Religion causes so much hatred between us.
If there is a 'god' in any name or form then it's a bad thing.

I just read an interesting update on the Guardian website which said the UN thinks international press should be allowed in to hold THEM to account in saving lives. I wonder if Israel will allow it?
