Feel like once the hostages are handed over Israel will start bombing again

It seems too good to be true, a final end to the war.

After all the plans that were announced with regards to annexation and the Israeli far-right government members, I can’t help but feel that once all of the hostages are released Israel will go ham on Gaza.

There will be nothing to stop them bombing everywhere.

No hostages to avoid bombing.

No families pleading with the Israeli ministers.

Israel has broken so many ceasefires and this was with the hostages lives at stake.

I don’t know, but I can’t celebrate with everyone as I don’t believe it will last and my heart says that’s it’s going to get worse.

I really feel for the Palestinian people left under Hamas, it wasn't nice for Catholic families living under the IRA. Living in fear of being accused of being a rat. Street justice.

They were puppies in comparison to Hamas.
I assume troops on the ground will go in, many Israeli troops cannot tell the difference between Hamas and innocent citizens, while Hamas are determined to find snitches, the citizens sitting in rubble must be petrified from all sides.

Yes, I feel desperately sorry for ordinary Palestinians. I don't know how much more they can be expected to endure. Abused by both the Israeli military, and by Hamas. Poor souls 😔

@SharonEllis I used the term 'the Zionists' to refer to the very pro Israel posters on here. I obviously didn't mean all Zionists everywhere.
I agree it was a sloppy use of language, and I shouldn't have used those words. I actually thought that myself, immediately after posting. I apologise for that. The rest of my post stands. It was a long post, and to disregard all of it purely on the basis two words near the end is unfortunate. It should have been clear from my post that I oppose prejudice and violence on both sides. People often accidentally use the wrong words, but the context and intentions are important.

Save the Children exists to protect children, not to spread propaganda.

Forgive me if I'm dubious about international NGOs after the Amnesty nonsense.

Agreed, none of the NGOs are automatically reliable, unbiased, or above suspicion in all areas. Remember Oxfam in Haiti?

“I’m not doing the work for people anymore” = I’m not going to provide evidence for things I say = people shouldn’t take me seriously.

If what you are saying is true, then you should want to be taken seriously.

People asking for evidence of your claims isn’t a bad thing.

If people refuse to show evidence for what they are saying I assume these days that they got their information from some guy on TikTok or Reddit.

I've never come across a 'pro-Israel' poster on here that thought Israel could do no wrong. I know people think if they keep saying it someone will believe it but I'm sure sensible people will have noticed that many loosely pro-Israel people are actually quite critical of the Israel government.

I for one condemn any sexual violence and abuse anywhere but I'm not really engaging with anyone who refers to 'the Zionists'. Thats a conversation killer for me.

Making excuses for the abusers of children is a new low for the extreme pro-Israel folks on here. Shame on you
Why can't you just have balance, and acknowledge that the Israeli government and military are guilty of human rights abuses? Doesn't make someone antisemitic or even anti-Israel to recognise that fact.

I don't think all Israeli actions are perfect, but given the level of terrorism and hostility they deal with, including suicide bombings, I can entirely see that these protocols are necessary and attempting to frame them as "sexual abuse" is blatant propaganda.

To respond to the OP -

I'm praying peace will hold 🙏
But I don't trust Netanyahu one bit. I really hope I'm wrong.

That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. The onus is on the person making the claim.

What I said is true you can believe me or not but I'm not doing the work for people anymore. I'm making statements and if others don't like them they are free to challenge them as mumsnet themselves would say.

I will say it again a democratically elected Israeli lawmaker thinks that the rape of Palestinian detainees is legitimate. An Israeli rapist was brought on Israeli national TV lauded and given multiple standing ovations. Israelis protested outside a prison for the release of rapists. Israelis and their children take to the streets and call for the death of Arabs. 69% of Palestinian children are sexually assaulted in prison.

Where is the evidence of these ‘facts’?

I don't need to provide evidence. I can just make statements and you are free to disprove them if you like. That's how mumsnet works.

Where is the evidence of these ‘facts’?

There is none. It’s the under the covers sentiment coming to the fore, because of the ceasefire.
As was said days ago, the pro-Palestinians are having difficulties accepting the ceasefire.

Like I said Israelis elected someone who has said the rape of detainees is legitimate. Israelis have rioted for the release of rape suspects. Israelis have lauded a rapist on TV after seeing a video of him violently gang raping a man. These are facts, things that have happened in Israeli society. They have shown us and told us that they don't have a problem with the rape of detainees. The video we saw of violent Israelis gang raping a Palestinian was not a cavity search. People were not protesting for the right to cavity search Palestinians they were protesting for gang rapists to be freed.

Where is the evidence of these ‘facts’?

You're describing fringe elements of Israeli society. The IDF are made up mainly of conscripts, ie normal young people from the full cross section of society.
So yes you are kind of calling the majority of Israelis paedophiles.

In reality, detainees are strip searched and cavity searched for the very obvious reason of concealed explosives and weapons.

And a poster here called victims of child sexual abuse radicalised liars and jew haters. Not a single person called her out for that. Mumsnet have said it is fine to do that so I see no problem at all with saying what I said and what we can all see and that is Israelis lauding rape on TV, Israelis trying to free rapists and Israelis calling the rape of Palestinians in detention legitimate.

there should be peace keeping troops in Gaza protecting civilians and stabilising the strip now that law and order has completely broken down

I get the feeling people are inching closer and closer to saying 'someone needs to go into Gaza and sort out Hamas'.

I certainly think they do.

Who will volunteer to go?

Seems like lots of the spectators approve and they are filming it so the whole world can see just like Oct 7th.

Are we to assume then that there is an anomaly in Israeli society in that there are lots of IDF soldiers, Israeli police and prison staff who are pedophiles, who like to touch young boys and this goes on without anyone caring because they don’t see a problem with it?

Well let's face it there is a long standing culture amongst some Israelis to call for the death of Palestinians, to actually murder them, burn them out of their homes, laugh and make up vile chants about the deaths of children at their hands. They host rapists on national tv and give them standing ovations, their democratically elected lawmakers call the rape of prisoners legitimate and they riot outside prisons for the release of rape suspects.

Unfortunately Israeli children are brainwashed into an ideology that’s very function is to demonise Palestinians and this allows them to carry out the atrocities that we have seen over the past number of decades once they reach adulthood and join the IDF. There are numerous videos of these atrocities and testimonies from the people carrying them out if you care to find them.

When we can see with our own eyes rapists lauded on TV, elected representatives saying that rape is legitimate, Israeli citizens rioting for the release of rapists, Israeli citizens including radicalised Israeli children marching up and down Palestinian streets calling for their deaths, 4 violent Israeli terrorist attacks against Palestinians every single day, a gang rape carried out by multiple Israelis on a Palestinian prisoner why would we assume that the sexual assault of children would be a step too far and that the victims are the liars not the people responsible for the deaths of 20000 children, the people marching up and down the streets calling for their deaths and violently attacking them every single day.

Sorry to be a cynic, but when it comes to Netanyahu I’m afraid I can’t believe a word he says - and Trump is pretty similar in my book. Both are driven by ego, personal power & money.
I hope for sake of the Palestinian people that I am wrong.

CrossChecking · 13/10/2025 22:33

TicklishMauveSquid · 13/10/2025 21:52

OK, let’s break this down.

The 69% in the article relates to being strip searched. Sadly this would probably be a policy due to the IDF’s experience of Palestinian suicide bombings or concealing knives or objects they could use as weapons. I would say it’s a necessary policy actually to protect themselves as well as the soldiers dealing with them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_child_suicide_bombers_by_Palestinian_militant_groups

Even more sadly there seems to be a long standing ‘culture’ among some Palestinians to brainwash children to hate Jews and want to kill them. Plenty of videos available if you want to look to get a fuller picture.

The other ‘sexual abuse’ abuse reported is touching of the genitals according to the article.

It’s not uncommon for someone detained or arrested on suspicion of a crime to be patted down before being strip searched. Could that have been construed as sexual abuse or is there proof of actual sexual abuse?

These were mainly boys and the youngest Palestinian detained for administrative detention by Israel is 14.

Are we to assume then that there is an anomaly in Israeli society in that there are lots of IDF soldiers, Israeli police and prison staff who are pedophiles, who like to touch young boys and this goes on without anyone caring because they don’t see a problem with it?

Classic blood libel, seeing as most of those people will be Jews.

On the same path as the IDF are all baby killing monsters.

The youngest child imprisoned was a 12 year old girl who was convicted of an attempted stabbing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimaal-Wawi

If children of that age are able to go out equipped with knives with the intention to stab someone, they are old enough to face the consequences IMO.

Not quite the image of innocent children being held hostage by Israel that some want to convey,
