Well the "Zionism must end" is a call for the end of the State of Israel and the civil disobedience is a call to destabilise Western societies.

All of which fits with the aims of the extreme Islamist / far left coalition of the Pro Palestinian lobby plus of course a large number of useful idiots.

I disagree, as I think it is generally meant as a call for the end of extremist attitudes.

The conversation has been on this board before, though some time ago now, that a lot of people have an idea of Zionism that it refers to extremist settlers such as some of those settlers in the West Bank and the government encouraging them, or Daniela Weiss, who say God promised the land to the Jews and Palestinians should leave, or extremists like Ben Givr Smotrich and Netanyahu. That is rather than Zionism referring to Israelis’ idea of a homeland ( especially after pogroms and the holocaust) but alongside the Palestinians as their neighbours.

The Likud party backing Netanyahu sees from the river to the sea as Jewish.

Yes any suffering in Gaza that can't be attributed to Israel and it's just tumbleweed.

What I am not sure of is whether these Israeli backed Palestinian militias against Hamas are good because they are against Hamas, or more trouble for Palestinians. It must be chaos.

I suspect that none of the militias are particularly pleasant, and if there's infighting it's not going to be very good for the civilians around them.

Edited

Basically whilst strong militias exist in Gaza they represent an alternative governing party for Gaza.

This is a threat to the continued rule of Hamas (probably under a new brand name). That's why Hamas wants to eliminate them.

Of course this will result in many more innocent Gazan civilians deaths, but Hamas never cared about this anyway and for the Pro Palestinian lobby, so long as it's not Jews causing Gazan civilian casualties then that's perfectly fine.

So they were shouting ‘Ceasefire Now!’ for 2 years, but now a ceasefire means nothing. Oh what a 😮

‘Zionism has to end in this world’ and they call for civil disobedience in the UK.

Why are these inciters of violence not being arrested?

@1dayatatime I no longer respond to attempts by people to emotionally manipulate me to condemn someone/something like the LBC presenter Tom Swarbrick clearly attempted to do by equating what the student said about Israel to Jewish people in the UK (which we've all been quite clearly told is anti-Semitic).

The student is quite uninformed as a lot of young people with limited life experience are. However these kids have been watching blown up babies for 2 years, what do you expect roses? Of course they're angry, there's only so much death a normal person can witness before it affecting them. They're also responding to all the dehumanisation they've seen from the other side.

Leaving Israeli politicians out of it, here is journalist Melanie Phillips (who I believe lives in the UK) saying about Palestinians in Gaza:

Breaking a non-existent siege of a non-existent people in a non-existent state.

There are many many more who privately share the same views but know that they currently can't express those views publicly.

Oh believe me they're expressing it openly and very vocally all over social media (hence Netanyahu's 8th front) just look at Fuentes and his Groypers. It's actually disconcerting how some people are taking it to the extreme. In that sense Mumsnet due to it's strict moderation is not representative.

Actually I don't condemn the young woman, in fact I actually give her credit for saying out loud what many of the pro Palestinian protesters are thinking- namely that they don't want the State of Israel to exist.

Her saying it out loud is much more honest than comments like :

"When Bob Vylan said death to the IDF what he actually meant was an end to the IDF in it's current form " Which we all know is bollocks, as if Bob is genuinely interested in military organisational restructuring.

"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" which 90% of British Jews see as a call to remove the State of Israel.

"I'm not anti semetic just anti Zionist"
which is literally saying I have nothing against Jewish people but I just don't want the state of Israel to exist.

Imagine saying that I have nothing against Indians but I just don't want the country of India to exist? You would rightly be called out for racism.

Worrying recent BBC news:
Hamas are apparently now mobilising fighters because they want to fight Israeli backed Palestinian militias within Gaza because they regard them as being effectively armed Israeli occupation.

I do not know anything about these armed Palestinian militias whom Israel has backed against Hamas and have been trying to find out more details.

It seems they are often clans and act on behalf of themselves for their own security and gain. They can be like criminals.
Here is a research paper about them from 2009.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/254648296_Palestinian_Tribes_Clans_and_Notable_Families

What I am not sure of is whether these Israeli backed Palestinian militias against Hamas are good because they are against Hamas, or more trouble for Palestinians. It must be chaos.

This is from the Guardian 30 September:
An official with a major aid agency operating in Gaza said they had not “heard from the de facto authority” – a euphemism for Hamas – since March and were now dealing with a “variety of different actors”.

“In the north there is nobody in charge, in the central area there are some really powerful families and some small informal militia … and in the south you have formalised Israeli clients who get weapons and so on from the Israeli military,” they said. “Law and order is deteriorating, the social fabric is falling apart and people are really desperate and in survival mode and it is becoming everyone for themselves.”

Many such armed groups have a record of looting aid or extorting protection payments from humanitarian organisations as well as from other Palestinians living in Gaza.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/sep/30/israel-backed-militia-groups-potentially-threaten-new-peace-plan-for-gaza

This is a Sky News investigation into Yasser Abu Shabab who hardly seems like a great alternative to Hamas. Israel must hope they’ll weaken Hamas and take over but be obviously incapable of ruling.
This group is pretty shocking.

Oh I think that ordinary Gazans will definitely want to take the peace deal
as its very favourable to them and their future prosperity. The alternative is to deliberately choose to be poor and a permanent "victim status ".

Hamas will be very reluctant to relinquish power and may just simply rebrand themselves.

The majority of the pro Palestinian protests will move on to support whatever is trending most on social media. However there will be a significant minority that continues to object to the existence of Israel as well as increasingly Western conservative values. Plus a much larger minority who are sympathetic towards them.

As a result I fear an increase in home grown terrorist attacks by the extreme Islamist / far left grouping both in the UK and in Western Europe.

If the Pro Palestinian lobby or for that matter anyone at all really cared about the suffering of ordinary Gazans then they should be calling for the removal of Hamas from power.

Actually I don't think that young lady's views are surprising. You have to recognise that by going publicly on LBC news with those views is that is very much the tip of the iceberg.

There are many many more who privately share the same views but know that they currently can't express those views publicly.

You only have to look at the response of @BelleHathorwho rather than condemn what is clear and open anti semitism prefers to respond with "what about extremist Israeli politicians ". No comment on what the young lady is saying in that video or her reasons for saying it, though her rhetoric is no different to the Israeli ministers who've said the Palestinians should be removed.

However her comments do reflect growing commentary around the world in reaction to the brutal actions of the IDF after the last 2 years, that peace will not be achieved in the region whilst the country that has bombed 8+ other countries in the region in the last 2 years remains there whilst not being contained.

The IDF bombed Lebanon last night destroying 300 cranes, loaders and drilling machines owned by private companies and being used to reconstruct destroyed houses. What was the military purpose of that apart from punishment.

Also, it is not solely a left wing thing. In America especially there is robust discussion on the right about Israeli influence, dual nationality and military spending on Israel (Brown University study shows $21 billion given in the last 2 years) and anti Christian rhetoric.

P.s look at the comments in that YouTube video about $7000, Netanyahu's 8th front on social media has failed spectacularly.

So how come there are many children who don’t look starved at all (personally I am relieved at that)) from videos I saw yesterday in which I saw not one.

Gaza is a very small area, why isn’t the UN ensuring food is getting to those in most need and why weren’t Palestinians sharing whatever food they have so nobody starved?

There is not one person in the many videos coming out of Gaza of adults AND children celebrating yesterday who looked desperate enough that had been fighting for food.

There are obviously trucks and vehicles for transporting food. Plenty of videos of men touting AK47s sitting on top of them.

Bisan Owda certainly doesn’t look starved if you watch her reports from Gaza from the beginning of the war and now. Maybe she should have shared some food with some starving children?

Why do you think some people were starving and others patently weren’t in such a small area.

There are terrible pictures from Sudan and Yemen showing the horrific affects of starvation. Let’s be honest, nothing like that has come out Gaza. Which again is a GOOD thing, right?

Did you know there are a similar amount of malnutrition related deaths in UK per year as there were in two years in Gaza? Obviously on a population level not comparable but people even die in Western countries who are not at war from malnutrition.

Have these child deaths in Gaza been verified as directly caused by malnutrition without any underlying medical condition which causes malabsorption?

Israel was routinely treating hundreds of children from Gaza with medical conditions in Israeli hospitals before the war. Understandably that stopped, although some families who arrived in Israel before the war started haven’t been able to go back to Gaza.

www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-02-01/ty-article/.premium/the-man-whose-job-is-translating-ill-arab-kids-at-israeli-hospital/00000186-0c14-d9b4-afb7-0f3dd3970000

https://www.timesofisrael.com/angry-and-tired-gazan-mothers-stuck-in-israel-after-medical-care-want-to-get-home/amp/

Are you denying that there was a blockade on food?

Because if not, you’re suggesting that every doctor, aid worker, and journalist who’s documented mass hunger and malnutrition has just… made it all up?

That’s quite the conspiracy theory to hang your hat on.

So let's see what Trump's 20 point plan offers the Gazans:

  1. Gaza will be a deradicalised terror-free zone - a good thing for Gazans.
  1. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza - a good thing for Gazans.
  1. If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. A ceasefire is a good thing for Gazans.
  1. Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned. A return of Israeli hostages is a good thing for Israel.
  1. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1,700 Gazans who were detained after 7 October 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
A good thing for Gazans.
  1. Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty. Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.
The removal of Hamas from governing Gaza is a good thing for Gazans
  1. Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip.
A good thing for Gazans.
  1. Entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations and its agencies, and the Red Crescent.
A good thing for Gazans.
  1. Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee, responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people in Gaza.
This sounds a lot better than Hamas and again a good thing for the Gazans.
  1. A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energise Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East.
Investment into Gaza is a good thing for Gazans.

  2. A special economic zone will be established with preferred tariff and access rates to be negotiated with participating countries.
Preferred tariffs is another good thing for Gazans.

  3. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return. We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza.
    A good thing for Gazans.

  4. Hamas and other factions agree to not have any role in the governance of Gaza, directly, indirectly, or in any form. All military, terror, and offensive infrastructure, including tunnels and weapon production facilities, will be destroyed and not rebuilt. There will be a process of demilitarisation of Gaza under the supervision of independent monitors, which will include placing weapons permanently beyond use through an agreed process of decommissioning, and supported by an internationally funded buy back and reintegration programme all verified by the independent monitors. New Gaza will be fully committed to building a prosperous economy and to peaceful coexistence with their neighbours.
    A good thing for Gazans.

  5. A guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas, and the factions, comply with their obligations and that New Gaza poses no threat to its neighbours or its people.
A good thing for both Gazans and Israelis.

  6. The United States will work with Arab and international partners to develop a temporary International Stabilisation Force (ISF) to immediately deploy in Gaza. The ISF will train and provide support to vetted Palestinian police forces in Gaza, and will consult with Jordan and Egypt who have extensive experience in this field. This force will be the long-term internal security solution.
A good thing for Gazans, Israelis and the entire Middle East.

  7. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza.
    A good thing for Gazans.

  8. In the event Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above, including the scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in the terror-free areas handed over from the IDF to the ISF.
    A good thing for Gazans.

  9. An interfaith dialogue process will be established based on the values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence to try and change mindsets and narratives of Palestinians and Israelis by emphasizing the benefits that can be derived from peace.
A good thing for Gazans, Israelis and the entire Middle East.

  10. While Gaza re-development advances and when the PA reform programme is faithfully carried out, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood, which we recognise as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.
    A good thing for Gazans.

  11. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous co-existence.
    A good thing for everybody.

So overall the 20 point peace plan looks like a very good deal for Gazans, which is why in the most part they are celebrating it and why for the most part other Middle Eastern countries are also supportive of it.

So this raises the question then of why are the Western pro Palestinian lobby and protesters are not marching in celebration of the deal.

The answer to this is for two reasons:

  1. The State of Israel will continue to exist which is unacceptable to both the extreme Islamists and the far left.
  2. The peace deal has been proposed by Donald Trump - so in the eyes of the extreme Islamists and the far left that makes it unacceptable regardless of the content.

So in summary the Western pro Palestinian lobby are not out celebrating because their entire movement is based on the emotion of hating the existence of Israel and hating Western society, rather than the facts of the peace proposal.

And lastly if you have any lingering doubts as to the true motives of many in the pro Palestinian movement take a look at this video and it tells you everything you need to know:

https://youtube.com/shorts/1arz3VaOaFU?si=rlmS52zpGFRrdohn

Shocking, not surprising, I've heard views like that many times.
