Writer Naoise Dolan Abducted in International Waters

Writer, Naoise Dolan, has just been illegally abducted from international waters by the Israeli government. Prior to being kidnapped, she wrote about her journey for The Guardian, explaining why they will not get Israel to distribute aid on their behalf.

“Israel likes to ask why we don’t “just” let them distribute our supplies. Besides there being good reason to distrust that this would actually happen when Israel has been deliberately starving Palestinians for two years, doing so would tacitly concede that Israel has the right to control Palestinian waters.”

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/oct/08/israel-seize-ship-gaza-flotilla-prison

Israel have just abducted 145 peace activists at gunpoint from international waters, in breach of international law. This follows their abduction of 500 people last week, some of which are still in captivity and those who have been released have reported brutal treatment where they were denied access to water, medical care and legal aid.

The veil is well and truly lifted now, so many more people are aware of the atrocities Israel has committed and continues to commit. Governments that have committed to banning goods from settlements will continue to do so. More governments will recognise a Palestinian state. I would love to see proper sanctions on Israel but we all know that won’t happen. The next best thing is to see IDF soldiers and leaders arrested the second they step out of Israel! I hope we see convictions soon for the genocide.

You say there were no sanctions on Germany??? If you read a history book you will see that Germany was politically isolated and economically punished following WW1 and WW2. The economic sanctions were incredibly harsh after WW1 to the point that their currency was completely devalued and after WW2 there was starvation and people were selling valuable antiques and jewellery for small amounts of food. Berlin was divided and remained divided during many of our lifetimes and it is only in the last few decades that the country became whole again.

Also WW1 was far more complex in who was to blame than WW2 - I don’t think we can blame Germany alone for WW1!

@JacknDiane, who was who I was responding to about Israel being a pariah State was not referring to sanctions from my reading of that post.

The world has seen what's happening and Israel will be very much a pariah state from now on. No one except their supporters will think of Israel with anything except disgust and horror.

He/she was referring to the justification of hatred of Israel, Israelis and also the Jewish diaspora by extension. Attacks on them have been justified because of the war even on here.

My point was business is business and international businesses will still deal with Israel if it benefits them.

I don’t think any country in the world, and its people, has had this level of hate Israel has had directed at it for carrying out a justified war or even an aggressive war in my lifetime.

I also don’t think Germany had this level of global hate directed it, or was viewed with such hatred for long afterwards as @JacknDiane seems to want Israel to be.

I don’t expect Pro Israeli supporters to believe anyone that doesn’t agree with them

so nothing new here then

Well that works both ways.

There is a lot of distrust on this board for the evidence on the "other side" - whichever side you're on.

You missed a bit.
“Aboard the Turkish ship MV Mavi Marmara, the Israeli Navy faced resistance from about 40 of the 590 passengers, including IHH activists[5] who were said to be armed with iron bars and knives.”

They also incapacitated 7 IDF commandos (so must have been pretty heavy resistance) by attacking them as they came aboard and armed themselves with guns they took off them.

So get this, aggressive activists who attacked soldiers with chairs, metal poles, knives, and threw one over deck to a lower level of the boat, to get hold of their guns, were just peaceful and innocent and shouldn’t expect to be at shot at if they’re trying to kill those soldiers.

According to reports I read the attack on the soldiers was planned days before they came onboard and the peaceful activists had sawn off the boat’s metal railings to use as weapons in preparation.

I see @DrPrunesqualer didn’t see fit to mention the 7 soldiers injured, 2 seriously, 1 shot, in her brief run down of the incident (although it states 10 on her attachment) which rather changes the perspective that the ‘activists’ were all peaceful and were attacked for no reason.

If that had been any other ME country’s army, I think the outcome would have been a lot worse, but of course Israel is held to a standard no other country would tolerate.

PevenseygirlQQ · 09/10/2025 14:21

Absolutely!

Don't worry. Just like what Israel has done is a reaction to Hamas, those who are not anti Zionists will know that they did not show any " can't act right" before the pro Palestinians did the most to censor , minimise, mock , victim blame and even censure October 7th first, worldwide and before Israel even retaliated.
Can't get much worse than being a female rape denier/ minimiser on a female centred board.
And Greta leads that specific cohort on the flotilla.
It burns me to share space with those types of women and men.
They minimise Hamas and complicit Gazans actions because something inside them clicks positively with those actions .
And they only pretend to be for Palestinians and that is why they minimise Hamas' actions and intent ....because something clicks positively in the Israeli defence and the death and destruction it has wrought.
Never in my life have I seen so many able to daily doom scrolls what is avoidable, but claim distress, disgust and despair.
A disgust, distress and despair that does not translate into begging Hamas to disarm, give back the dead and living hostages or question why Hamas and complicit Gazans planned for two years to knowingly lead tens of thousands of Gazans to death, homelessness and hunger.
So miss me with the superiority complex. The average Pro Palestinian does not even check for Palestinians. If they did, calls for Hamas accountability would have been one of the top two demands from them in this war.
Because one cannot claim that Israel is an eighty year old criminal state that needs to be a parish due to her exercising her right to defend herself against various Islamist entities over the decades , but act like they did not know that Israel would defend herself against the worst violation against Jews, and in the Jewish homeland since WW2.
Which begs the question why so called Pro Palestinians did not and do not prioritise why Hamas knowingly sent their people to hell all to get a kick out of murdering a far smaller number of people?

Is the kick out of a relatively large number of Israeli Jews being targeted and murdered for being Jewish a greater reward worth the death and destruction in Gaza so as to continue to finger point and bangle/banner wave after Israel?
Because this mass energy for Israel that even the post communism fall of the Berlin Wall did not harness with such non dynamic intensity , and seemingly unable to channel itself out of toddler like emotionalism and narcissism ....where and how was it hiding in intensity and hysteria ( I rarely use that word in my lexicon as it can often be used to other and stifle reasoning) and how was it able to?
Is social media the catalyst or the vessel?

Because there is so much going on in the world, worse than what is happening in Gaza and for far longer that this very intense energy against Israel (and much" adjacent " to her ) could have been released a long time ago, if anti war, love of peace and justice and " anti imperialism", plus a superior love of children, babies and mothers is really the motivation/ trigger for it.
But kudos to the ability to stifle all that adrenalin without using it so intensely " on behalf" of other groups and other " imperialist" endeavours against whole populations all over creation ...and all without a serious uptick in mental hospital admission or prison as suppressing intense feeling too often leads to maladaptive anti social behaviour or self harm or to those in close proximity.

Care to link to the post where I have called them names? I have said they are privileged because they are. No one who is not privileged has the luxury of sitting around on boats in the Mediterranean waiting for the publicity that comes from being boarded by the Israelis. No one who is not privileged is flown back to a welcoming party in Libya a few days after being arrested. No one who is not privileged gets released from Israeli jails as quickly as that!

You called those on the flotilla anti semitic by equating their actions as antisemitism ( 8:06 today)
You also called another poster antisemitic

thats a disgrace ! and a clear slur

but I agree those on the Flotillas are privileged. They aren’t being bombed in Gaza, they haven’t lost their homes, livelihoods and friends and families.

wrongthinker · 09/10/2025 16:58

Whatever way you look at it, people are fucking stupid to involve themselves in a war zone if they don't have to and are not trained to. Especially when they are doing it to virtue signal on behalf of terrorists.

CatchingtheCat · 09/10/2025 15:51

Lol you have literally been calling the people on the flotilla’s names and making assertions about them with no evidence or anything to back it up. What is the point of this needless incessant posting, other than to distract the conversation from the real issues and bury the important information and links further down the thread.

For those of you interested in the 145 peace activists, doctors and nurses from around the world who have been abducted and over £110,000 of vital aid stolen- there are detail in this thread on how to contact your governments. You can filter by username to see the ones I have posted.

After I posted some links, facts, and figures showing the war crimes of Israel some of the pro Israel posters wrote on the board that pro Israel posters should “ignore” my posts and not engage with me - ie let any evidence I post be pushed down the thread. This has happened on more than one occasion.

I would now say we should use their tactics to stop threads being derailed, if you find someone is starting silly arguments over nothing, deliberately veering the conversation away from the issue and trying to fill the thread with nonsense just ignore them! Don’t respond and as mean children do, pretend it is just the wind! I have gotten drawn in on countless occasions and it goes no where.

At the end of the day the facts speak for themselves, 55,000+ kids suffering from malnutrition, a huge unknown quantity of murder victims and peace activists from around the world abducted at sea. All of the aid agencies and peace keeping groups agree with these facts.

The IDF are war criminals!

TBF I haven’t seen you post much in way of evidence to support your assertions at all. Propaganda yes.

I just response to posts I want to respond to.

The IDF are an army fighting an unprecedented war against heinous terrorists IMO. Brave men and women, most still in or barely out of their teens, some Arab Muslim, Druze, Christian, fighting alongside Jews, against evil, cowardly, terrorists who committed the type of barbaric atrocities of Oct 7th, who hide behind children to save themselves in a war they started.

You are entitled to your very biased view of them though.

The IDF act on orders from the Israeli Government

They are both complicit

In fairness Hamas don’t have any issue with peace activists, the flotilla’s carried vital medical supplies and had doctors and nurses on board so they likely would have been welcomed. Israel are far more dangerous to peace activists, they have killed quite a few over the years, they are also far more dangerous to doctors and nurses when you look at the numbers imprisoned and murdered!

I mean, thank God they weren't intercepted by Hamas because it's highly unlikely they would have survived to tell the tale.

Let's be real here. You don't go sailing into a war zone armed only with your white privilege and expect to be treated like a hero unless you're doing it for attention. If they wanted to do something to help the Palestinian people they would have been campaigning for a ceasefire.

Meaningless cant. What kind of "genocide victims" hold hostages from the other side that they could release at any moment to end the "genocide"? What kind of genocide can be ended by the "victims" agreeing to a ceasefire?

Make it make sense.
