Thoughts to the Jewish community in the UK

Russia is a Christian country. Do Christians in the UK or around the world get targeted or blamed for the Putin and Russia's actions in Ukraine?
No because it's all just an excuse for anti semitism.
Anti semitism was, for a while after WWII, socially unacceptable but in recent years both the far right and more so the far left have embraced it.

Someone mentioned donating to CST and I think that’s a great idea. If you’re not in a position to do that then you can still speak out.

Not one of my friends has messaged me after yesterday. Not to ask if we are okay or acknowledge what happened. Many of them continue to post stories about Gaza on their social media but not one of them as acknowledged this.

Reach out to Jews you know who will be frightened. Post a story about how you are thinking of those affected by this and don’t justify it or caveat it or use it to compare what’s happening Gaza. Don’t speculate on the victims thoughts about Israel. Just send out one kind and compassionate thought for the people murdered right here yesterday just for being Jewish.

Write to your MP about the growing antisemitism problem. The Jewish community it too small to make anyone listen. If you’re the silent majority then please don’t be silent now. Don’t let them shrug us off or dismiss what’s happened. It’s so easy to think you won’t bother because it won’t make a difference but your voices show what voters care about. Please show you care about Jews. Make this impossible to ignore.

You don’t have to ONLY care about Jews. But yesterday, there was a terrorist attack killing and injuring Jews just for who they are. You don’t have to stop caring about other causes but maybe just for one measly letter, one social media story, one text message, we can let it be about Jews.

I heard that kampf and jihad are apparently synonyms, there's a terrible historical echo to this rise in antisemitism.

Imagine this was the other way around and someone attacked a mosque. The outcry and civil unrest would be beyond belief (and yes I know this has happened before - I'm talking in the current climate).

I don't think the reaction from government has been strong enough. I appreciate there are facts unknown still but it needs to be entirely demonstrable that this will not be tolerated.

Hmmmm, Shabana Mahmood. The one pictured waving Free Palestine flags, who chose not to vote on Palestine Action being proscribed as a terrorist organisation and demonstrated at her local Sainsbury’s in protest at them selling products sourced from Isreal? That Shabana Mahmood?

Just in the last two years Israel had to release over 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for less than 200 hostages, this is how Hamas operates.
And yet, people suggest that the perpetrators of October 7th should have been arrested and imprisoned.
How long would they’ve stayed in prison for, I wonder? Until the next round of hostages is taken?

I think recognising an increase in anti semitism supports Jewish people. Lots of poster on here like to pretend it isn't happening or use the situation in Gaza as some kind of justification for it. I think it's important to counteract that.

I'm not sure where you are going with this or what the point you are trying to make is.

Do you think your posts support Jewish people? Maybe listening to people experiencing what they are is better.

Well it's up to you how you want to support.
I think that recognising the increase in anti semitism is an important part of supporting the Jewish community.

Why would I do that? I want to hear from Jewish people and give support.

The whataboutery is disgusting. British people were murdered in Britain for being Jewish. Peaceful, law-abiding people whose existence was enough to make someone want to murder them. It's horrific. Sympathy and solidarity to all the Jewish people who feel even more vulnerable today than they already did.

Why? How does it help Jewish people?

Actually I think there was some talk about hate speech on social media and people waving flags that encouraged racism and that it should definitely be stopped. Down with this sort of thing etc.

I was on a cruise ship when October murders and hostages were taken. I saw a Jewish family praying before their dinner and I went across and asked if I could join them in their prayer to show solidarity. Several people went across to them and they said they were grateful. I think the government should have banned the huge demonstrations by people supporting Palestine as some were openly wearing the Hamas logos. Yet nothing was done. The ones wearing those logos should have been arrested and charged with insisting violence.

Of course many people have spoken about it but it bears repeating. I think that Jewish people will feel the impact of this for years and that is important to recognise.

The neighbour describes Adrian Daulby as 'the best guy i have seen in my life'.

I actually think it's important to highlight the knock on effects of the current war on Jewish people (ie increased antisemitism) as well as the obvious impact on Palestinians living in Gaza.

Well I hope this is ok to post. There is a video at the start where one of the victim's neighbour gives a very moving tribute. Adrian Daulby was a kind and caring man who would buy books and toys for the children on his street. The kind of neighbour that is seldom found in this day and age. I can't imagine what his family and friends must be going through right now.
