We don’t “all need” to do anything.

You do what you want to do re boycotting Israeli goods and I’ll do what I want to do which is not boycott Israeli goods.

Agree we need peace but that’s as much about protecting Israeli citizens in my mind (from the threat of Hamas & other extreme Palestinian groups) as about protecting Gazan citizens.

All citizens need protection from extremism.

After 80 years of brutal oppression it is time the world says “no more” to Israel and finds a deal that ensures an end to Israeli aggression and land grabbing. All governments need to stop supplying Israel with military equipment and we all need to boycott Israeli goods to stand with human rights!

Totally agree with this. This thread is full of vitriol towards anyone who is pro Palestine and anti genocide while the support for the flotilla is moderate in language and approach. The conflation of Judaism with Israel’s massacre in Gaza is in itself anti semitic as it suggests that all Jews agree with Israel’s actions - they don’t.

When someone tells you they are Hamas believe them.

When Hamas film themselves kidnapping, killing torturing Israelis believe them when they say they will do it again.

When Palestinians celebrate in the streets after October 7th and spit on the bodies of raped and murdered young women from a festival believe that they meant to do it and their 'hearts and minds' are full of hatred and will do it again.

Ffs, the reporters are out of control here. I'll say it one more time you can't fight hate against one group by spewing hate against another. Equating Israel with Jews helps no one, they are not one and the same. Talking about what Israel are doing is not propaganda and it's not blood libel.

No one said all 500 activists on board are liars or terrorist sympathisers. But some do have links to Hamas. Some are probably lying since the stories get more exaggerated with every one we hear.

They don't all 500 have to be explicit hamas supporters, but they have chosen to sail alongside people who are holocaust deniers, open antisemites, deniers of the 7 October atrocity.

These aren't people passing each other i the street. They have made common cause and a united front.

This isn't a legitimate difference of opinion. These are heinous views, some of them tipping into illegal. And alo gside side them are people than minimise tbe horror and tge reality and refuse to see the humanity of Israelis and Jews. This is the facebook post Shahidul Alam, part of the flotilla, decided to post this morning on the anniversary of 7 October, the worst attack on Jews since the holocaust. Cold, and barely factual in the amount of detail it omits and the narrow interpretation of the aims of the genocidal terrorists on that day.

I'm upset that you think people who are taking this peaceful action are motivated by antisemitism. Almost everybody is condemning the far-right Israeli government and their treatment of Palestinians. I'd be upset if you concluded from that, that most people are anti-Semites. Obviously there's been a very alarming rise in antisemitism, that's awful. But most of us criticising the Israeli government and the IDF are not antisemitic at all . It wouldn't occur to me to blame all Jewish people for the genocide. Likewise I wouldn't blame all Muslims for October 7th, 7/7 or. 9/11. My current condemnation of Netanyahu and the IDF is motivated by what they're doing in Gaza. Nothing whatsoever to do with their religion or race. I condemn Saudi Arabia's government for their assault on Yemen. Again, nothing to do with their religion. I condemn both American and British governments for the Iraq war, which doesn't make me anti-Christian, and I am a Christian myself.
I just have to say this before leaving and hiding the thread. Not to downplay antisemitism at all. I don't. But, it'd be awful if you thought most critics of Israeli actions are motivated by bigotry.
