Gaza Flotilla - genuine peace activists or Hamas puppets?

It has been reported that these activists have rejected the Italian government and the Vatican's proposal to unload any aid they are carrying in Cyprus, to be transferred peacefully to Gaza.

They seem intent on sailing into a legal blockade in a warzone as a direct provocation to Israel who will be forced to take control of 50 boats and the people on them.

They have made lots of unproven allegations that Israel has attacked their boats which may well be to precursor violent resistance in 'self defence'.

They could be carrying anything, including weapons.

There is quite compelling evidence of Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood connections to this so called humanitarian flotilla, which could be considered perverse in the extreme seeing as Hamas has caused the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Hundreds of Israeli boat owners are being encouraged to counter protest in Navy approved zones (without interfering) as a presence 'a blue and white wall for the hostages'.

What do we think the outcome of this will be with Italian and Spanish Navy vessels in the mix?

This is quite a different situation than the ONE boat in the earlier failed attempt to breach the blockade this year where the 'activists' were peacefully appeased with sandwiches and sent on their way (after refusing to watch footage of Oct 7th).

A campaign of so-called “peaceful solidarity” reveals disturbing ties to designated terrorist organizations.

I don’t know how anyone could watch the news today and try to defend what is being done to the Palestinian people.

It's quite terrifying when you realise just how many sick fuckers there are in the world. Who the hell is still trying to defend Israel?

It’s nothing to do with the occupation @CrossChecking & everything to do with the hypocrisy & narcissism of the people aboard the flotillas that make some people speak against them.

It’s the fact that they are pretending their main goal is to deliver aid when it isn’t. And they are pretending to be scared about the flotillas being intercepted by the IDF when they knew this would happen all along. Greta in particular knew the score as this isn’t her first rodeo.

You are wrong there - the person I know on the boats is a kind and gentle person. She has spent years campaigning for human rights across several conflicts, campaigned to end direct provision in Ireland and volunteers with refugee organisations. She literally spends her life helping others, she is the opposite of attention seeking. People on the boats risked their lives because they have big hearts and huge empathy for people suffering in the world.

This level of denial is staggering. Do you not realise that these acts are being viewed and testified globally every day? You may close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears, but that doesn’t make this abomination disappear.

The flotilla are a brave collection of well intentioned people. Why attack a peaceful coalition who are attempting to deliver baby formula, rather than the depraved murderous people who are withholding it from starving babies?

Why obsess about a young woman who hasn’t murdered anyone, when the Israeli army are murdering innocents daily?

I was heartened to see the global snap protests yesterday about Israels decision to illegally detain lawyers, politicians and activists from around the world. From Dublin to Sydney to Buenos Aires people were out showing their disdain for Israel's depraved behaviour. The flotilla has been very successful in their mission to reveal the violent and unlawful behavior of Israeli occupation forces. Israel’s hostile response to their missions reflect a wider, ongoing brutality inflicted upon civilians in Gaza on a daily basis.

People don't like that they are shining a light on the truth of the occupation, that's why these flotillas rile them up so much.

Yes but that doesn’t mean the homophobia and intolerance of others isn’t there. I know hard working Muslim families who don’t break the law, yet their views are very outdated and at odds with Western society. They haven’t acted on them; but they are there, sadly. A survey found half of British Muslims think homosexuality should be imprisonable, and a quarter want Sharia law for the UK. There is a common theme of active dislike for the West, celebrating its losses and automatically siding with whoever our opposing side is. I hate to say it but my Facebook and Instagram stories tell me otherwise - I’m connected with ‘moderate’ Muslims who post relentlessly about Gaza, the ills of the West, how we live immoral lives in their view, lots of support for Iran etc

Look at the Muslim politicians in the UK. 80% of them seem to have almost completely given up their duties to their constituents and spend all their time posting and campaigning about Gaza and how awful the West is. The irony is they’re only doing this as they share an ethnicity/belief system with Gazans - while decrying white Westerners as ‘racist’ for purportedly caring more about Ukrainian refugees because they’re white and Western.

I agree with much of what you say. It's divisive when people living in our communities don't share our values of mutual respect and tolerance. There are cultural differences re attitudes to things like homosexuality and inter faith relationships. However, I am hoping that these outdated attitudes are gradually changing amongst younger Muslims living in the UK.

And yes, I am aware of certain politicians who seem to care way more about Gaza than the UK constituents they were voted to represent. I hope that will be duly noted and acted upon in the next election by their constituents who might have been hoping the emphasis would be more local.

True and most of them do live alongside us in harmony of course (moderate Muslims).

It's Islamic extremism that people in Europe are beginning to fear and is leading to too many divisions in society.

It’s tragic. There is zero reason why Muslims should not be able to live alongside us in complete harmony and respect as do Sikhs, Hindus, Jews. All it would take is mutual acknowledge and rejection of our past grievances (big ask but non-Muslim Westerners would be prepared to do this, and don’t carry out terror attacks on this basis anyway) and the knowledge that while they have the right to practice their religion, they do not have the right to enforce it in wider society or break the law of the land to do so.

Yea it wasn't Hamas it was another group that consider hamas too moderate. He was a pro Palestine activist. The flotilla activists could be in trouble should they land .... fortunately G is intercepted and fed when she attempts to enter Gaza

They would be shitting themselves if they thought they could actually land.

It's so disingenuous the way Greta and co pretend to be scared of those intercepting the boats and giving them water and safe passage back to Europe.

Absolutely.

I’m a Zionist insofar as I don’t want to dismantling of and mass deportation of Jews from Israel. I believe now the state has been created, it is their right to live in their home and have a homeland. No point quibbling over what is already done now. Any sensible moderate would agree with me.

However I have also made sure I have viewed undiluted, unfiltered videos of what is happening to civilians in Gaza and as with any conflict it is horrific beyond words. A toddler without an eye; a small girl with her innards hanging out. This is intolerable to watch let alone live, and these are precious children, regardless of their parents ideology.

The only way through is the Accords and for brave Muslims to work to moderate their religion and make it harmonious in the modern age. There are Muslims doing this but it’s difficult and dangerous work for them and I admire them probably more than anyone else on the face of this Earth.

Anyone pushing for further conflict from their safe and comfortable living room is indeed showing their true colours.

Wise words and I totally agree about the Accords.

Because they’re not peaceful!!!!

They’re propped up by an army of idiots who are posting en masse online to say yesterday’s attack is somehow justified, ‘what do Jews expect’, they haven’t even mentioned it!! The least they could do is condemn the comments of their supporters and release a statement condemning any antisemitic murder but they’re not!!!! Why aren’t they?!?!

There is no genocide. There is no mass, random bombing. There is no machine gunning of civilians, nor bombing of refugee camps.
If there were, the death toll would be 500,000 or more by now.

I agree. People posting on this board in good faith (from either side) will naturally want an end to the war and an end to the suffering more than anything.

Those quibbling over how the peace plan isn't perfect are showing their true colours in my opinion. Just stop the bloody war instead of pretending there is any way a perfect plan can ever be achieved that both sides will love.

To be fair there is alot of false sympathy for the suffering of Gazan civilians and Gaza.

If people genuinely wanted to see the end of Gazan civilian casualties and destruction of Gaza then they would be out protesting for Hamas to accept the peace deal.

Instead some of these same protesters are objecting to the peace deal which simply shows that their real motive is not about the suffering of Gazan civilians but rather about a hatred for Israel and Jews.

An Italian pro-Palestinian activist has been found dead in the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip hours after being abducted.

Vittorio Arrigoni, 36, was seized on Thursday by a radical group that has been in conflict with Hamas and is seeking the release of its leader.

Police said he was found hanged in a Gaza City house after receiving a tip-off. Two people have been arrested.

Italy denounced the "barbaric murder", calling it an "act of vile and senseless violence".

Mr Arrigoni was the first foreigner kidnapped in Gaza since BBC journalist Alan Johnston was abducted in 2007.

Friends of the activist gathered outside the hospital where his body had been taken on Friday morning.

"He came from across the world, left his country and family and his entire life and came here to break the siege, and we kill him? Why?" asked one of his friends.

Italian diplomats have been in touch with Israel regarding the transfer of the body from the Gaza Strip, possibly on Sunday, an Israeli official has told the BBC.

There is a genocide happening in Gaza in front of our eyes. Palestinians are being massacred daily. It is ongoing. I find the comment that the ‘IDF are wasting precious time’ in the context of this to be sickening.

The nasty personalised attacks on Greta facilitated by this post are horrible. The flotilla are a peaceful group of people. They are not the villains.

They’re not villains but they’re not exactly shrewd peace activists are they? People like Greta are so used to being centre stage and told that they’re special and our only hope, they truly believe they are entitled to wade into anything. I’m sure she sympathises with Palestinians but the whole exercises is pointless egotism. She knows they won’t ’break the blockade’, she knows the aid they’re taking is symbolic amount which will probably cause a stampede if she even gets ashore.

The only people I respect at this point are those urging Hamas to sign the peace deal and for the Abraham Accords to be upheld as peace in the region is so close if only they would let it happen. As soon as that’s done, the killing ends and Gaza can be rebuilt. Nobody is being relocated according to the deal. That’s what is urgently needed - not a few boxes of formula and Greta waving a flag and posing on the decks.

At this point anyone grandstanding to create further tensions is directly standing in the way of peace.

To give her an understanding of why there is a legal blockade of Gaza for a start!

Maybe she isn't aware?

She could have seen what the Palestinians who managed to breach the blockade on land enjoyed and celebrated doing, up close and personal, when they had the opportunity to attack Israel without Israel having the protection of the Iron Dome.

Do you think the people on the flotilla, especially the women, would be a bit wary of entering Gaza if they saw the atrocities that were carried out not only by Hamas but other terrorist factions and by civilians too on Oct 7th, and the reaction of Palestinian civilians to them?

It wasn't only Jewish people or Israeli civilians who were slaughtered.

Why do they think they would have some sort of immunity from the type of savagery some Palestinians are clearly capable of?

Hamas torture and murder their own civilians too, not only Israelis and Jewish people.

I don't think the IDF should have to waste precious time dealing with a hundreds of delusional idiots in party boats trying to enter a warzone, or risk their lives saving them from the dangerous consequences of their actions.

All in society need to realise that Islamic terrorists are a growing threat. Apparently there are almost 39,000 islamists on the 'watch list ' in the UK. Everyone needs to play a part in calling out and reporting people who are radicalised. Recognise the problem and look for solutions.

There was a thwarted Hamas attack in Germany today.

These are two separate issues though

you can recognise the growing danger of extremism and also say that you think a genocide isn’t okay.
