Trump's new Gaza Plan

Return of the hostages and an Islamic Arab government: Inside Trump's new Gaza plan:

The Trump administration has reportedly put forward a peace plan which would eventually lead to a complete end to the war in Gaza, a Western source told the Lebanese media site Elnashra on Wednesday, only a day after US President Donald Trump met with the leaders of Muslim countries.

The plan reportedly includes a 20-day ceasefire followed by the return of the hostages. It is unclear in the report, however, how many of the 48 hostages would be returned at this stage of the deal.

Following the return of the abductees, an Arab administration made up of Islamic nations would take over the administration of the Palestinian enclave, according to Elnashra. During this time, a Palestinian government would reportedly be built without the infiltration of Hamas.

Other sources told the Lebanese paper that the Muslim leaders attending the meeting with Trump were supportive of the American president's proposal. Still, they were reportedly awaiting a response from Hamas and Israel to see if the proposal could be fruitful.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and included leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

What do you think about it being headed up by someone like Merkel instead? Loads of international respect, has the time for it, less likely to line her own pockets and far more diplomatic and trustworthy.

I think you need a kind of a co unit between a person/country Israel trust and a person/country Palestinian would trust

I don’t think I know enough about global affairs to suggest people. But the idea that Trump would back something that didn’t have him at the helm is far fetched to say the least.

Lets just hope it’s not a cover for “Trump Gaza”

It is extremely difficult to trust this turnaround on the US part. Maybe it was the Qatar bombing.

anotherside · 29/09/2025 22:11

Ah, have the peace plan headed by the guy that most of the world (outside of the self appointed “international community”) regards as a massive war criminal for his actions in the Middle East. Sounds just great.

Apart from the fact she didn't come up with any part of the plan, can't tell Netanyahu what to do and probably some of the ME leaders would be biased against her as a woman ... it could work.

I want it to end. But I don't want this.
I want a lasting peace that can be built upon, headed by someone both sides can trust.

There isn’t going to be lasting peace any time soon so that’s a naive thing to wish for.

There was no way a lasting peace deal was going to come out of this, not a chance. All that can be hoped for is that both sides put down their weapons so a long term solution can start to be formulated.

After two years of death and destruction, Hamas isn’t even going to be in as good a position as it was on Oct 6. All of those lives lost, buildings destroyed, total destruction for what? They’ve got a few thousand prisoners released, a people on their knees, total lack of infrastructure and a promise from Trump that if they don’t agree to and abuse to this plan he will support Israel in whatever it does. They’re not going to be allowed to be in power (they obviously still will be, just not so visibly or lucratively) and they won’t have any hostages. Hope it was worth it.

Exactly, who cares if Trump is a narcissistic megalomaniac as long as he stops all the killing.

The problem with Trump and peace deals. Is that he is a bully. Instead of trying to find lasting peace he’s hoping to bully everyone into agreeing to this one

This was on the bbc. There is a danger to this too.

“During the remarks announcing it, Trump said he would back Israel doing "whatever" it felt was needed, if Hamas didn't agree to the plan.”

But in this time and place, with these people, I think the plan is as good as it could be.

That's a pragmatic approach and I agree with the sentiment that in this time and place, with these people, I think the plan is as good as it could be.

I agree Trump is a bully but so are Hamas bullies. Maybe they understand each other.

…that’s kinda what’s happening, if Hamas agreed.

The international peacekeepers are only to keep Gazans in check. There is no reciprocal deal to keep Israel in check, even though they are the ones suspected of committing war crimes continually for 2 years.

I'm hoping though that if there are international peacekeepers on the ground, Israel will be less trigger happy.

I agree, maybe we shouldn't bother. The people being slaughtered by tens of thousands should clearly demilitarize, whilst those committing the genocide, who have nukes, and have committed 99% of deaths (not an exaggeration) should stay armed to the hilt with the ability to carry on killing people.

If that's your logic, I despair.

And no, I'm not suggesting either side are left without cover, I'm suggesting international peacekeepers take over until both sides can be trusted again.

…that’s kinda what’s happening, if Hamas agreed.

Trump made what clear?

That Israel won’t continue annexing the West Bank and will return stolen land?

or

That Israel won’t agree to stop annexing the West Bank?

Trump said a few days ago he wouldn't allow Israel to annex the West Bank.

I don’t think it matters who the person is, just that this plan has been achieved.

I think Trump is an appalling, narcissistic, self-serving sociopath. I would happily never hear his name spoken ever again, but I would gladly ignore all of that if he can bring this war to an end. He doesn’t even need to secure lasting peace, just stop this phase so everyone can take a step back and stop killing each other.

Islamic and Arab nations issue joint statement welcoming Trump's Gaza plan

Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt have all issued a joint statement welcoming Trump's efforts to end the war in Gaza.

The foreign ministers of the countries said they were ready to "cooperate positively" with the US and other countries to finalise the agreement and ensure its implementation.

I find it a bit disconcerting that no one's actually said yes, I trust Trump, this sounds like a good plan.

The man isn't exactly stable, he's a megalomaniac, his narcissism is off the scale, he isn't the remotest bit objective, he seems to approve of the idea of him being worshipped as a god-like being in Gaza, he keeps talking about the real estate opportunities!!

Just because something's better than the status quo doesn't make it right.

For those who are in favour of this plan, can you tell me why you think Trump is the right person for the job?

Yes, yes, we know all terrorists are just civilians.

There is a reason Israel had a policy of not returning the bodies of terrorists killed in Israel. Maybe look it up. Terrible that the Palestinian terrorist ideology forced them to take that step.

They keep the bodies of children they've killed. Children! Have some humanity.

Most of the negative comments seem to be around the lack of consultation of them by the Arab states.

It'll include civilians that get killed by Israel. There's a lot of them.

It'll also include people including kids that were held without charge tortured and killed in Israeli prisons.

Hamas has responded across several fronts as have the Houthi’s. It’s not largely positive.

Shame on them then for not bringing the war to an end

In terms of releases Netanyahu has agreed to all dead hostages to be released and 25 dead Gazans released / hostage

Why not all dead Gazans. I was surprised to hear they actually hold so many. Why would Israel want to keep the bodies of dead Gazans. I think that’s terrible, they should all be released to their families who probably don’t even know their fate

Edited

TicklishMauveSquid · 29/09/2025 21:27

I'm not so sure about Hamas members being given safe passage out of Gaza.

Won't that just allow them to regroup abroad and conduct terrorist attacks from there? The US could also be a target.

Also wouldn't be surprised at all if the assumed living hostages are returned deceased with the excuse that they don't know what happened to them (didn't Hamas recently say they'd lost track of 2 hostages) or they were just killed in an air strike. A horrible thought and what would Israel's response be?
