Footage shows public executions in Gaza City street

BBC Verify: Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".

There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

🥱🙄

What a surprise.

Either no capacity to engage, or no interest in engaging.

I would think that applies to the people failing to consider that they are now and have been supporting genocide

I'm not sure practically what they should do about individuals working with the IDF. In most conflicts, they'd be detained in custody until they could face trial, but obviously there's no functioning prisons. It's a real practical issue when law& order breaks down. However, just because execution is a pragmatic option (one as a country we've used extensively in war), doesn't make it right. Not sure what they should have done though.

No functioning prisons - but plenty of places to imprison dozens of kidnapped Israeli civilians... eh, ok.

Did any of my previous response make any sense to you?

PurpleChrayn · 25/09/2025 14:09

Barbaric.

Alittlefeedbackwouldbenice · 25/09/2025 14:07

We only one about the one Abu Shabab as far as I'm aware. He's pretty well known though. I think the assumption is the 3 men are linked, but frankly who knows. I made that clear in my first post on this.

Interestingly he's still listed as on the run online, so either things haven't been updated or it wasn't him.

As to whether he's a good guy or not, I think the jury's out. However given Israel's actions I'm naturally suspicious of anyone who is literally funded and served by Israel. Even before that though he's had his own armed militia for donkeys years. He's stared that he's anti Hamas but little about what he actually believes in. He may or may not depending on what you read, have links with ISIS. He's certainly made no commitments to democracy.

You're right though that it's very difficult for any viable opposition to emerge in Gaza. But perhaps people could bear that in mind when they suggest people overthrow Hamas. Or when lack of resistance is used a justification for continued genocide.

My question was to posters who post on here in support of Israel but state they are neither Jewish or Israeli, my question was why in the face of mounting death tolls, evidence showing the dead to be predominately innocent civilians and a plethora of reports indicating genocide, statements of genocidal intent from Israeli politicians, evidence of deliberate starvation and torture, and many many Jewish people speaking out against Israel they are continuing to support Israel and post here Has nothing of what we have all witnessed given them pause for thought?
Israelis may have family in the military, watch biased news reporting, multiple reasons for being in denial but those who are not Israeli ???
don’t understand your motivation, for defending Israel when we all know 20,000 children have been killed, how is that ever justifiable???

Is it sunk cost fallacy?

Thanks for the addition Twiglets1. Although your policing of the threads maybe needs to be a little more consistent. The jokes on this thread were quite tasteless, and yet I believe previously you said that you had never seen such a thing.

I've never said I haven't seen jokes on MN. You're probably referring to a previous comment I made about never seeing people joking about children being shot. And if I'm policing these threads I'm not doing a very good job am I? People seem to think they can say what they want when I'm around!

Jokes about bots or Israel jamming the radios on Greta's flotilla with Abba music because she's Swedish are lighter topics I hope you agree.

I'm not going to apologise for having a sense of humour and I'm 100% sure it doesn't hurt anyone in Gaza for me to joke about bots or Greta and her futilla.

Could we have links to the information about the victims that's in the public domain?

I'm genuinely curious, too, especially as the information was very different from the newspaper article one of them published a month ago (posted upthread).

The BBC made reference to that one man Abu Shabab in reference to the executions in the street but to my knowledge no one has attempted to name the other 2 men executed.

Maybe @GladioliGreen has inside knowledge the rest of us don't have access to about the identity of the others or maybe they were just exaggerating what they had read - who knows.

I think if you can have a normal conversation with someone, they're not a bot. If they just keep repeating the same few points over and over again in exactly the same way, they could be.

Unable to engage past simple slogans, moving goalposts instead of looking deeper, anything that whiffs of AI...

You go to "Advanced search" and select "Search posts by a specific username" -- enter the username... you can filter by dates or topics, or just leave those empty and it will come up with their entire posting history.

Mind you, I've no idea how you'd do this on a smartphone, I'm useless with phones! 🤡

Ahhhh, I only have a phone!

The reason I'm interested is some posters I choose not to respond to as they are so deep down a rabbithole, but then they disappear and others with similar posting style pop up and I'd like to see if their histories end / starts line up... maybe they've name changed...

I've never been able to figure out how to search a posters history, and only post on my phone ( also why so many typos 😬 )

Frankly any of us could be paid bots. For either side. We know that Israel pays students to post pro Israeli content online and on social media. They won't be the only ones.

It's a forum, any of us could be anyone. I have suspicions about a couple of posters (and no, I'm not identifying them), but there's no point is getting our knickers in a twist about it as we'll never know, so what does it matter. Frankly I'd prefer some people were paid to post, rather than believe that people genuinely believe some of the stuff posted, and post it out of choice. No doubt some in the pro Israel side think exactly the same about the pro Palestine side.

For what it's worth, the information @GladioliGreen put about that guy is in the public domain. It's certainly information I'm aware of, and I'm not a paid bot. But equally that's what a paid bot would say... Anyway, it's something you can look up yourself.

Not trying to point score just genuinely can’t get my head around anyone still supporting Israel’s campaign, does the ever rising civilian death toll never give you pause for thought, the reports of starvation, torture?
I can understand Israeli’s being in denial but not those outside Israel. Just cannot compute

also 0ctober the 7th was horrific but not unprecedented the Sabra and Sharla massacre
September 16, 1982, marked the start of a horrific 43-hour massacre, killing an estimated more than 3,000 Palestinian refugees men, women and children in Sabra and Shatila Refugee Camps in Southern Lebanon. Sabra and Shatila were home to Palestinian refugees who had been displaced from their homeland, primarily from the village of Balad Al-Sheikh.* *

Maybe you got the info from X or Insta or some other source that directly feeds your algorithm? (although it's possible my hasty Googling was careless!)

Re bots, it's easy enough to look up the posting history of anyone you're suspicious of. (My own current profile, incidentally, is nowhere near as old as my presence on MN, which funnily enough I've just realised is because I deleted my long-standing profile during the sheer bloodbath that used to take place on the CITME forum, when I was followed and targeted across different threads to such an extent that I felt intimidated and unnerved by it.)

Shows the level of paranoia.

Strange how the obsession with bots is much more prevalent on the pro Palestinian side when they are the much bigger group. Plus unlike the Israel supporters, some of them literally post the same information over & over again robotically across multiple threads with scant regard for the actual discussion.

Exactly, that’s something I’ve noticed too.
Of course, there are posters on both sides making thoughtful contributions, but there are also those who just post soundbites or phrases like “Israel’s cruelty knows no limits, no surprises here”, like some sort of mantra.
