Footage shows public executions in Gaza City street

BBC Verify: Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".

There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

Hamas-linked social media channels say "three collaborators who were spying for the occupation" were executed.

'Going on for decades before oct 7th', so before the current conflict? What were they watching, hamas lob bombs at Israel perhaps?

Edited

One of Israel's many previous attacks? Do you really know so little about what you are supporting?
Hamas and Israel have fought several major conflicts - including those in 2008-09, 2012 and 2014. A major conflict between the two sides in May 2021 ended in a ceasefire after 11 days.
Each round of fighting has seen people killed on both sides, the vast majority of them Palestinians in Gaza.

You're being ridiculous.

Getting people to kneel and shooting them in the head executioner style is (a) terrible and shows how brutal they are, if there is a crowd watching (b) totally fine, no criticism at all, if it's innocent paramedics at the side of the road.

What next, it's different because some have moustaches or some other lame excuse.

Why are you minimising this with talk about moustaches?

The baying mob proves this is what the terrorists do, the crowd are obviously loving it. They posted it and circulated it globally. Wtf have moustaches got to do with that level of depravity?!

30,000 chidren killed in the Syrian conflict. Were there endless threads about that? I think not. What is the difference here I wonder.

Indeed. I don't think I saw a single thread about the genocide of the Tigray 2020 - 2022, despite 52,000+ civilian casualties and horrific accounts of mass rapes and summary killings of whole towns.

What about why in the name of God did Hamas provoke Israel, its armed-to-the-teeth neighbour on which it relies for many essentials of life, into this ghastly war?

What about why have they not negotiated a ceasefire on reasonable terms, why have they kept hostages, both dead and alive, why have they orchestrated macabre and disgusting events like the return of the Bibas family?

What about what the fuck have Hamas done to protect a single one of the children of Gaza?

What about fucking surrendering when your territory and people are being blown to smithereens?

What about not responding to being recognised as a state by numerous countries by shooting your own people in the head?

Is that enough what abouts for the time being for you?

Yes; and I would add, what about making sure that as many of your people are blown to smithereens as possible, so that you can twist the knife on Israel and Western social media will lap it up dutifully?

What I've found on these threads is that some people can only relate to numbers. I'm not sure what that's about. There is also a tendency to criminalise Israeli behaviour, e.g. horror at a video of IDF dancing with Gazan women's underwear, as though this is a flagrantly inhumane far beyond anything Hamas and their supporters did to actual women's bodies, alive, dying and dead.

What about all the rockets Gaza's been lobbing at Israel all these years? Do you think that might have a connection to the Sderot cinema you mentionned?

Or shall we conveniently ignore that mmm? Its ok for Hamas to aim their rockets at civilians in Israel but not ok for Israelis to do the same?

Nobody ever seems to be able to say what, if anything, Hamas has done to protect its people @Gloriia

On this thread we have seen that even summarily executing them is hand waved away.

Summary execution being justified because you don’t have a prison infrastructure - even though you do have a sophisticated tunnel network under civilian areas and keep captives both there and in civilian homes - is probably my favourite excuse though.

It's absolutely appalling. The poor crowd! don't call them a baying mob <when that is what they are> Confused.

Not a baying mob, but that's precisely what they did to those ambulance workers....

Shot in the head executioner style, then the evidence covered up.

Can you not see the difference between people cheering distant bombing and cheering murder at close range? Granted cheering bombing is absolutely inappropriate but it happens in a conflict.

Cheering and whooping murder at close range is completely different.

No I can see no difference, in fact this may well be worse

When I see and hear a missile fall on Gaza, I am happy", said Afik with a weird grin on his face. The phenomenon is more than a decade old. First reported by the Guardian in 2014, the Gaza War. They say that residents bring lawn chairs, snacks, and drinks with them as they sit on hilltops to observe airstrikes. There is a binocular installed, some carry their own, some bring their dogs, with alcohol and other substances. There are shops and cafes nearby, making it the perfect picnic spot with the destructive visuals of the Gaza bombings.
The term “Sedrot Cinema” was coined by a Danish photojournalist, Allan Sorensen, who sarcastically called it so, as “Israelis bringing chairs to hilltop in Sderot to watch latest from Gaza. Clapping when blasts are heard.” The tweet went viral and triggered i

Its really quite unbelievable the amount of people on here who are intellectually unable to compare apples to apples.

Have you seen members of the IDF shoot Israelis on the street on broad daylight? Perhaps political opponents, leaders of the opposition, or those accused of sympathizing with Palestinians shot by the IDF on the streets of Tel Aviv?

No. No you have not.

I think you need to do some criticising on Israel for this then.

No one is 'supporting a genocide'. It is a conflict.

Why don't you ever ponder over why hamas don't try and protect their citizens a bit, why is there no outrage that they set up shop right in the middle of communities? It's their fault.

Someone even upthread being an apologist for the bayiing mob at the street murders saying 'I'm not sure how posters can with a straight face criticise Palestinians and their reactions under extreme stress '. I mean yes I'll criticise anyone whooping when innocent people are made to kneel and are then shot in the head.

One man’s genocide is another man’s freedom fight.

I am not Jewish and yet I can see past Hamas propaganda. Jewish people will always have my support.

Even if they are committing Genocide @CatsMagic ? I support people according to their actions so love Jewish people such as Albie Sachs, don’t love Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, Smotrich
