Footage shows public executions in Gaza City street

BBC Verify: Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".

There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

Well yes it is pointing firmly at the Israeli authorities. Everyone should be held to account for what they have done.

My protest today has nothing to do with Gaza at all.

@PaxAeterna would be interested in your thoughts on it when you get back from your protest.

Not many people have commented on the peace plan thread from the pro Pal side but I hope I'm right in assuming we all want it.

I wonder what Iran will do. I also note that many fortunes were made in this business but when oligarchs outlived their usefulness in Russia they became quite accident prone.

If you find yourself unwilling to condemn the death of children then you have lost some part of your humanity. I honestly believe that. I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind.

@quantumbutterfly - no I’m genuinely interested in why. There seem to be people that don’t believe it which I suppose is better then the people who believe it but defend it.

I’m here on this board because I’m fascinated and horrified that views like this exist. I’m literally about to run out the door to go to a different protest right now. Handwringing about children again, @Beachtastic wouldn’t like it.

I don’t think we are in disagreement @dairydebris

It does look exceptionally heartless when somebody says I know children are hungry but they aren’t hungry enough for me to care.

But @Twiglets1 there seems to be more food available commercially actually. But no the food situation hasn’t changed enough to avert famine. The story has just moved on.

What I keep seeing on MN is hand-wringing about the children being deliberately tortured and murdered by evil Israel. This is such a skewed perspective that I am wary of lending my voice to it. Given Hamas's manipulation of social media, MN would be a rather obvious target for this sort of propaganda.

I've protested outside a lot of embassies in my life, marched, and boycotted more than one country. So not fixated on Israel. But what I'm seeing Israel doing is clearly genocide. The west is supporting it. It deserves all the attention it is getting and more. We need to stop arming them. Boycott them. And try the key actors for war crimes.

It is curious who is driving the narrative and how.

The glee I saw amongst some people immediately after 7/10 was a complete dehumanisation of Israelis and then that was extended to Jewish people. There's a lot of discontent being leveraged.
Ideologies are always warring for supremacy, the world population has never been so large. it's easy to be confident you're right when you're only being shown part of the picture and that really depends on the source of information. No such thing as an objective source where human interactions are involved.
