I disagree I think there is real appetite worldwide to lift the Palestine out of the hell that Israel has subjected it to and help them get back on their feet. When people work together for good much can be achieved.
As far as rebuilding cities, that’s not new. Many cities around the world have been rebuilt.

They won’t need to pay reparations.

Israel will be made to pay for the damage they have inflicted and war crimes committed. Personally I think it’s likely Israel will struggle to find countries to trade with and Palestine will find many people willing and eager to offer a hand.

Palestine would be a very poor state of ever a state was created. It's closest trading neighbour Israel would be loath to set up deals or allow immigration which would be it's perfect right. Gaza would become a welfare state without a functioning economy. Try driving through Manchester or Birmigham and imagine have to build these cities from scratch with modern buildings and infrastructure and estimate the cost......not cheap. Who would supply the money to make the state of Palestine justifiable. Rich Arab states....they have better investments. Maybe the UK if a loon like Corbyn or Sultana were elected?

there are developing countries worldwide much more worthy of western investment and Palestine does not have some God given right for some mythical donor to pull out a massive cheque book.

It was interesting the the PA representative was visibly angered when free and fair elections were mentioned and he kept stating 'it's not our behaviour that's the problem'. I think all senior Palestinians know that there will be nothing truly democracy is about a new state. We also know any new state will have laws that will subjugate women yet everyone is in a rush to see this happen.

Most arab countries without oil wealth are a bit of a mess tbh. Trying really hard to think of one thats actually stable. Poor governance, corruption (tbf the PA is probably less corrupt than the leaderships of many neighbouring countries). Think the forst thing that would happen in an independent Palestinian state would be civil war to be frank.

I do actually think there needs to be a Palestinian state but I don’t think this intervention was very helpful, useful or anything other than a bit of politicking.

They don't have an army as you well know.

Personally, I don't think they will get a chance to choose leadership because Israel will continue deny their right to exist and use their army to aid their terrorist settlers in seizing Palestinian land. Netanyahu himself, the man elected by Israelis to represent them, said 'This land is ours'. The plans are already in place and have been for a long time, it's too little too late from the UK.

So there was a PLO representative on politics today who essentially ranted about the UK having to feel colonial guilt over Palestine and happy we finally recognised the state. At no point during the interview did the representative suggest the borders for any Palestinian state should be as current but only made references to historic wrongs which many will interpret as the formation of Israel. The guy (it's always a man) really did think that the recognition of a Palestinian state by the UK was an acknowledgment Israel shouldn't be formed.....a Hamas propaganda coup. (Thanks Keir).

At least Laura made a statement that the description of the war in Gaza as genocide by the representative was not the view of the BBC.

Their army already had a crack at genocide, though some people called it self defence.
Their country will be judenfrei and feudal, which is rebranded apartheid.
Leadership will matter, what will they choose?

I'd imagine if Palestine became a country they would pay their army to 'slay' people just like Israel and every other country that have the right to self determination do. Hopefully they would use their army for defence and not for genocide, illegal occupation and apartheid like Israel do.

It's about time Palestinians were given the same right to self defence as everybody else.
