Why do you think the majority of the dead are reportedly (according to Hamas), women and children as opposed to fighting age men, out of interest?

What would be the reasoning behind the IDF having a military aim of targeting and killing women and children in your opinion?

Obviously you wouldn’t know the IDF’s reasoning, if they had one, I’m interested in yours though.

They may not be trying to kill women and children, but they’re certainly not trying to prevent it either. Every decision Israel has made- the blockades, the bombardments, the refusal to let people flee- has collectively harmed civilians and disproportionately affected children.

I don’t know if the IDF intends to target women and children, but the outcome is obvious. According to the UN Human Rights Office, of the 8,119 verified deaths in Gaza between November 2023 and April 2024, almost 70% were women and children. That isn’t a coincidence- it’s what happens when you drop wide-area explosives into one of the most densely populated places on earth.

And that’s not even counting the well-documented cases of children and babies being directly shot at- including those trying to reach food, aid trucks, or shelter. So whether it’s deliberate or not, the result is the same- Israel’s tactics have made civilian death unavoidable.

The point is that Israel’s response has gone far beyond self-defence, breaking multiple ceasefires and killing tens of thousands of civilians, the majority women and children.

One atrocity doesn’t justify another.

I didn’t say they hadn’t now did I?

All wars have civilian casualties which have included children sadly, which makes it even more heinous that Hamas deliberately started one and even worse than that, deliberately set the stage for children to be killed as they wanted as many dead as possible.

Unspeakable evil.

The point in my post was quite clear I think.

The old trope of trying to victim blame doesn’t work on me either.

Explain where I have victim blamed.

Israel has military camps for teens too - do kids who attend them count as militants? Hamas hasn’t used kids as militants in twenty years - they expressly forbade it. They have done a lot of evil things but the child soldiers thing is nonsense propaganda thrown out to justify murdering babies.

I am sure I have corrected you on this several times now. Hamas ostensibly banned child soldiers but they continue to use them. Everyone knows it. I don't have time to dig out the links but anyone who is interested in truth can do so.

Yes, and not only Jewish children butchered in Israel but also children killed not only by Israel in Gaza via Hamas using civilians as human shields and but also by Hamas firing rockets from civilian areas, covering whole areas in landmines and IEDs as booby traps for the IDF and very likely shooting them themselves.

Why has no one considered that a high level of lower limb amputations in a war, as studied in wars like Afghanistan, are primarily due to IEDs and landmines.

Does anyone seriously think that Hamas or the PIJ take precautions when firing rockets from refugee tents or booby trapping whole city blocks, to ensure civilians are not at risk?

Hamas who actively tries to prevent civilians leaving areas given evacuation orders, would not shoot a load of kids to blame Israel (not as if they’re above murdering children in cold blood), when they say the blood of Palestinians fuels the resistance and of course the hatred of Israel.

How will we ever know how many of these children were actually killed by Israel, who are accused of deliberately targeting them, but for what purpose?

To reinforce the view that they are monsters, but why target some kids and facilitate the evacuation of others for medical care, even treating them in Israeli hospitals?

How does that stack up?

How many of the 20,000 child deaths (Hamas figures) were used in warfare as child soldiers. They were certainly murdered by Hamas.

How many would have lived if they had been afforded the basic right to be evacuated to safe refuge during a war which seems to have dismissed by their so called advocates, who think it’s more important they are child death figures in case their families can’t return to their home. I’m sure any child living in the midst of a war zone would prefer they were in a safe country with their families safe and they will have never experienced that under Hamas rule.

I’m sure this will upset those who want to believe Israel is responsible for every death in Gaza and the IDF are an an unprecedented army of gleeful psychotic baby killers because they’re predominantly Jewish of course, killing without care with the whole world watching, worse than any other military group even Hamas who did actually do that, which is clearly utter horseshit or they would have cleared out Gaza 2 years ago.

I didn’t say it was the sole reason for the amount of child deaths (reported by Hamas), nor did I justify it. Quite the opposite, if you bothered to read my post before the one you responded to, Maybe you should read it again.

The old trope of accusing people who challenge the anti Israel narrative, as justifying the death of children, has been used to try to shame people into believing terrorist propaganda for two years now.

It’s boring and doesn’t work on me, so don’t bother.

My point is, I don’t believe it’s the reason nearly 20,000 children have been killed. Nor do I think it justifies the deaths of 20,000 children- which, pointing out in this context does make people sound like they’re justifying these children’s deaths.

Surely we can think of both? The victims of October 7th and all Gazans who have been victims before and after October 7th?

We can. There is enough space on this thread to hold all the children killed by this terrible war.

I’ve certainly never seen any ‘child soldiers’ on here.

I'm anti Gazans who support Hamas. How's that for a straight answer, rather than a woolly answer. You've not said yes or no either, you're playing word games
I'm coming off this thread as it will just go round and round in circles like all the other Middle Eastern conflict threads and not achieve anything or change any opinions, similar to all the Pro Palestinian marches.
I mainly wanted to mention the Bibas children who were also murdered in Gaza by Palestinian Hamas and not by Israel.

Ciao.

Its such a shame a thread remembering children murdered in cold blood has to always become a tit for tat @AmadeustheAlpaca.

Shame on you.

Obviously not or I wouldn’t have said that we can support both sides. Are you anti -Gazans? You can reply in as many words as you like!

Khaled Mohammed Fathi Jabr
7 years old
Israeli airstrike
17 October 2024
It took surgery and five years of IVF treatment for Khaled’s mother Amal to fall pregnant for the first and only time. Born nearly two months premature, he had a twin brother, Adam, who died at three days old. Khaled was transferred to a Jerusalem hospital for specialist treatment. A compromised immune system meant he was in and out of hospital until he was about four, but then his health improved and Amal could settle into a normal rhythm of life at their home in Tal al-Hawa, in western Gaza. Amal found joy in small things, preparing school supplies and taking him to football, swimming and horse riding classes at the Friends Equestrian Club, where he had a special bond with a horse called Shams. After Israel launched airstrikes on Gaza in response to the Hamas cross-border attack on 7 October, the family fled south to join Amal’s parents in Rafah, which Israel had declared a safe zone for civilians. Ten days later, Khaled was killed in an Israeli airstrike along with his grandfather, uncle, aunt, cousins and 11 other relatives

Young lives cut short on an unimaginable scale: the 18,457 children on Gaza’s list of war dead

Every name on a list compiled by health authorities in Gaza of the child victims of Israel’s offensive

No one should think that only that the soldiers killed Gaza children. Hamas are evil too. They need to be stopped too. Both sides. I think it is an impossible task though.

No posters on this thread mentioned children murdered by Hamas till I mentioned them, so I thought I'd introduce some balance to the thread. A lot of the children killed in Gaza are killed as a result of Hamas actions exactly two years ago when Jewish children were butchered.
I abhor cruelty to innocent children but this thread was one-sided and posters seem to excuse the disgusting behaviour of Hamas and how they treated children. And their families. I can't believe some of the appalling behaviour by anti Jewish groups which I have witnessed in Britain on TV today. There are some sick individuals out there.
