@Twiglets1 careful when you fill in your Mumsnet timesheet.....the inland revenue will be checking.😶

Fascinating how telling me to ‘give it a rest’ is fine, but pointing out the hypocrisy of that earns smarmy little jokes. All while this thread is about 1+ children being killed every hour. Classy.

It’s the same with every war.

The German people for example were heavily punished financially for starting a war & losing it (twice).

Maybe the majority of their civilians didn’t deserve it either but they all got punished for having a mad government that kept attacking other countries.

80 years ago it was fine to punish innocent civillians so it's fine to punish Palestinians? What else from 80 years ago is fine, let's roll back women rights, no mortgages or bank accounts, no bodily autonomy, no such thing as marital rape. Or is it just Palestinians you think it's OK to treat like we treated innocent people 80 years ago? Screw progression, who needs human rights anyway(apart from Israelis of course)?

I think you misread my post.

No Sharon, 'actually' I read it just fine.

GladioliGreen · 01/10/2025 15:23

Maybe Hamas should accept the deal and hand over the hostsges who actually have been suffering abuse and subjugation.

This is gross. We have all seen what Palestinians have been put through, how they have been suffering, millions of them, for a very long time. Denials like this does no one any favours. People can look at starving children, children using pipes as limbs, people being burned out of their homes and say that they are not 'actually suffering' because they don't believe Palestinians are equal to Israelis. If they did they would recognise that the soldiers being held hostage have suffered and millions of other innocent people have too.

I think you misread my post.

GladioliGreen · 01/10/2025 15:23

And noone is arguing for 'abuse and subjugation' for Palestinians anyway. What a load of nonsense. Maybe Hamas should accept the deal and hand over the hostsges who actually have been suffering abuse and subjugation.

World War II reparations

The Allies finally agreed for German reparations to be paid in the following forms:

  • Dismantling of the German industry
  • Transferring all manufacturing equipment, machinery and machine tools to the Allies
  • Transferring all railroad cars, locomotives and ships to the Allies
  • Confiscation of all German investments abroad
  • All gold, silver and platinum in bullion or coin form held by any person/institution in Germany
  • All foreign currency
  • All patents and research data relevant to military application and processes
  • Requisition of current German industrial production and resource extraction
  • Forced labour provided by the German population

Occupation costs
After World War II ended, the main four Allied powers – Great Britain, The United States, France, and the Soviet Union – jointly occupied Germany, with the Allied occupation officially ending in the 1950s. During this time, Germany was held accountable for the Allied occupation's expenses, amounting to over several billion dollars.

Holocaust victims
Germany concluded a variety of treaties with Western and Eastern countries as well as the Jewish Claims Conference and the World Jewish Congress to compensate the victims of the Holocaust. Until 2005 about 63 billion euros (equivalent to approximately 87.9 billion euros in 2022) have been paid to individuals. Additional payments by German companies which exploited forced workers have been made.

I thought the point of the Marshall plan after WW11, in which enemies Germany and Italy were included, was to help do the opposite.

This was to avoid the disastrous effects caused by punitive measures taken against Germany after WW1 which were partly responsible for the conditions in Germany leading to the disaster of WW11.

It's quite disgusting really talking about how treating people with basic dignity and giving them basic human rights is 'being more favourable to the side losing the war'. Heaven forbid civillians who were on the 'losing side' get the same rights as everyone else, no, they 'lost' so decades more abuse and subjugation from their Israeli overlords for them. We wouldn't want them thinking they were equal to the 'winners' now would we.

I really would like to see peace. Do wonder why the clause below is included if Israel and America have not committed many war crimes ??
Would like to see them required to build all infrastructure destroyed and compensate and provide protheses for all the children and adults they have left as amputees. Would rather a war criminal not be put in charge . I think it is stitch up, I hope it is not but think am with Yolanda Diaz

In a little noticed part of the 20-point Trump peace plan, the Palestinian Authority (PA) will only be considered to have reformed itself and be eligible to run what has been described as ‘New Gaza’ if it drops all involvement in the legal cases being taken against the US or Israel at the international court of justice (ICJ) and the international criminal court (ICC).

The ICJ is still examining whether Israel has or is committing a genocide in Gaza, as well as whether Israel has breached the UN’s immunities by throwing the UN Palestinians right agency Unrwa out of Gaza.
The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The requirement that the PA drop all legal actions against the US and Israel in all tribunals is only mentioned in the plan when the document says the PA will only be able to take over the administration of Gaza from technocrats when it has “completed its reform programme, as outlined in various proposals, including president Trump’s peace plan in 2020”.
The 2020 peace plan stated it was a requirement that the PA take no action, and shall dismiss all pending actions, against the state of Israel, the United States (US) and any of their citizens before the international criminal court the international court of justice and all other tribunals.
It also required the PA to take no action against any Israeli or US citizen before Interpol or any non-Israeli or US – as applicable – legal system.

Thank you for pointing this out as I never saw that part of the peace plan or heard it mentioned in the news.

Twiglets1 · 30/09/2025 22:03

Actually my above post is unfair to say that none of the pro Pals seem like they want a ceasefire. Some of them do but they are unfortunately in the minority.

Twiglets1 · 30/09/2025 21:51

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 30/09/2025 20:11

‘The situation’ - do you mean the 20,000 babies and children who’ve been killed?

Give it a rest.

None of the pro Pals even seem like they want a ceasefire based on their negativity today for the peace plan.

So you’re not happy with this peace plan.

But would be a happy with a hypothetical one that was more favourable to the side losing the war than the side winning the war. AKA something that never happens.

I wouldn’t describe it as a war.

I’ll take that as a No you’re not happy there’s a peace plan. I guess you’re hoping Hamas reject it but you’re getting a bit out of step with the Palestinian people now. Most just want the war to stop.

The CITME board didn’t exist at the time, but yes, you could probably find the threads if you looked.

There were many, many deletions for antisemitism, and for what were probably deemed personal attacks, I remember being deleted for calling another poster a ghoul, for example. I remember being very upset at the speed and level at which the antisemitism and rape denial appeared all over MN after Oct 7.

Ah yes now I remember the CITME board was not there at first just after Oct 7 but people were of course talking about all the events and the board was made soon after on about Oct 10th.

There were also specific discussions about the rapes and mistreatment of Israeli women Oct 7 on the Feminism: sex and gender board.
