It is incredibly sad that 38 children died.

But by the weekend there will be another 38 children killed by Israeli forces. And by this time next week another 38. And then another. And then another.

And each of those sets of 38 children matter equally.

The number of murders on 7/10 is frequently compared to the last two years. Why is it different now?

I think it doesn’t do any good to make stuff up. The truth is awful enough, every childs death is a tragedy, whether they are Palestinian or Israeli.

But I wouldn’t believe an organisation which put out so a blatant lie.

It’s nothing about ‘gotcha.’

It’s pointing out if you want people’s attention, getting basic facts wrong (either way - higher or lower) in your headline is pretty damn incompetent.

But the headline said “more than”. It is indeed “more than”. The maths is perfectly mathsing. And I am a sodding mathematician. I spend my life moaning about people getting the maths wrong. This is tragically right.

When I read threads like this, it’s easier to understand why wars happen.

arguing over whether it was one child or more than one killed per hour. OP, I agree with you entirely, what a horrific statistic.

Their murders don't need to be used as a statistic. The second most horrific genocide of the Jewish is just as devestating as the first, no matter how much minimising is attempted to be done ❤️

I figured out the same and was trying to get my head around why it was a “gotcha” that it was actually more children who had been killed than stated? Perhaps those 3210 children were killed/only verified later. It’ll be even more by this time tomorrow. Will that be a gotcha?

Do those children not matter because they were Jewish?

Hours in a day = 24
Hours in a week = 168
Hours in a month = 730

Hours in 23 months = 16790.

So not a child every hour at 20,000 at all.

That puts their hours just over 3K out. Which actually makes it 19 months. Which is four months different - quite a lot. That's what...17% off their guess? That's quite a lot.

They can't even get their headline right which rather makes it hard to really trust anything they say. If you are going to make sensationalist headlines, aimed I am sure at generating public condemnation, you should try and get the facts right.

They'd be better off halting the sensationalist headlines and printing accurate facts as they might find people are more receptive to their pleas. Over-exaggerating does no one any favours.
