And don't forget that it was Hamas"s slaughter of defenseless babies and youngsters and whole families that started all this.

When you do something like the savage attack on Israel last October and then brag you'll do it again, you can expect retribution.

Israel had killed more children in Palestine in 2023 prior to October 7th than were murdered on October 7th.

By your logic that was retribution?

SammyScrounge · 12/09/2025 02:39

Mumofteenandtween · 10/09/2025 20:20

You are right. They have killed more than one child every hour.

Which is actually the headline:-

GAZA: 20,000 CHILDREN KILLED IN 23 MONTHS OF WAR - MORE THAN ONE CHILD KILLED EVERY HOUR

I’m not sure why you think this is a “gotcha” though. There was no over exaggeration. There are 3210 children dead who wouldn’t be if it was “only” one child killed per hour.

I wish that they were all still alive. Along with the other 16,790 who also died.

And don't forget that it was Hamas"s slaughter of defenseless babies and youngsters and whole families that started all this.

When you do something like the savage attack on Israel last October and then brag you'll do it again, you can expect retribution.

SisterTeatime · 12/09/2025 01:44

Why are you asking people on this thread to answer for Hamas, like they support them?
Disagreeing with the IDFs murder of over 18,000 children does not equal “I support Hamas”.

I didn’t suggest that people on the thread support Hamas. I’m asking - and I’ve asked before and never got an answer - what has Hamas, the government of Gaza, done to protect or shield its citizens, including children, from harm in this war?

KoalaKoKo · 12/09/2025 01:31

acorncrush · 12/09/2025 00:23

Hamas is the only organisation I’ve heard of who intentionally want their own children to die just to make the other side look bad, and hide weapons in hospitals in order to get more children killed, just to generate worse PR for their enemy. They value the lives of their own citizens and children very very little.

And pay families of terrorists going to intentionally murder children in the most horrific ways for the sake of murdering children - not to get other targets, but to cause sensational brutal murder.

Does Isreal do this?

Edited

Do you know many people in Hamas, have you heard them all say this or is this something you have been told. A huge proportion of people who join Hamas do so because they are traumatised from family members being murdered - I am sure there are a few that are so indoctrinated that they think the cause is worth them and their families dying, but I do not think that is the majority.

Netanyahu and his ilk have sacrificed the hostages to win land, they enacted the Hanibal directive where Israeli citizens were killed rather than be taken hostage - that is pretty sadistic in my book. Freed hostages have spoken about the cars they were taken in being shot at by Israeli helicopters - a house where most of the Israeli hostages were shot by the IDF the few survivors said the Hamas operatives were trying to negotiate safe passage when the IDF opened fire and shot the militants and hostages. The fact they have a Hanibal Directive should disturb ordinary Israeli citizens on so many levels - you are expendable to your government. The goal of greater Israel is more important than your lives or your children’s lives to them.

Also the weapons inside hospitals thing was largely debunked - the videos circulated by the IDF of finding weapons in MRI machines was laughed at in the UK and Europe - even Hamas aren’t dumb enough to hide explosive devices in a giant magnet.

Everexpanding · 12/09/2025 01:20

Israel has murdered 20,000 children

Everexpanding · 12/09/2025 01:15

Israel are killing children everyday, 20,000 at least so far, at least 30,000 children injured and all the children of Gaza traumatised for life, can you condemn that and also the deliberate starvation of infants and an entire civilian population

acorncrush · 12/09/2025 00:23

Actually not horrible human beings but depraved, actually depraved

Everexpanding · 11/09/2025 23:47

So the toll will be far greater than 20,000

Everexpanding · 11/09/2025 23:47

dear god this has to be one of the most disgusting and depressing threads I have ever read. How can anyone’s first reaction to that headline be I must get my calculator out??? To accuse the paper of sensationalising by in some way trying to bring home the scale of the slaughter because 20,000 children is a horrifying number to try and get your head around. To use such jibes and emojis when discussing this topic. The lack of respect shown for the children and the scale of this horror!! Jesus some posters are just horrible human beings
i agree with the World Health Organization's Deputy Director General, today he said he is almost "entirely disillusioned with the world"

He also stated unequivocally that starvation is being used as a weapon of war by Israel

PurpleChrayn · 11/09/2025 06:44

That’s almost as often as someone posts anti-Israel propaganda on Mumsnet! Incredible.

Noone would compare those two things unless they were engaging in the dehumanisation of Palestinian children.

hkathy · 11/09/2025 23:10

Didntask · 10/09/2025 20:30

Anyone care to respond to this? Or do Jewish children not matter?

Every child murdered during war is a tragedy. We should have empathy for all children, and as mothers we do. But 20 thousand is severely disproportionate to 38.

SisterTeatime · 11/09/2025 08:04

Where is your humanity or are you so racist that you simply don't see brown/ Muslim/ Christian children as human beings?

Do you think all Israelis are white or something?

Can you tell me, what has Hamas done to prevent the killing of children in Gaza? To protect its own people?

The deaths and suffering are a tragedy, of course they are, I don’t know how many times this has to be said.

If you take the view that Hamas is a terror group and therefore nothing can be expected from them, they have no responsibility for the territory and people they govern, and that Israel must protect not only her own people but the people bent on her destruction, then I don’t know what to say to you. I don’t - and I don’t think I’ve seen a single poster who does - support and justify all Israel’s actions in this war, of course not. I just hold Hamas responsible in a way that shocking numbers of people don’t.

About half are white. And global support is a question of racism.

Why are you asking people on this thread to answer for Hamas, like they support them?

Israeli Gov has not just defended Israel, it’s decimated most of Gaza and working on the West Bank. It’s committed war crimes. They joined Hamas as terrorists. And continues to do so with impunity. It’s utterly sickening reading comments in this thread.

Perfectly put. The low expectations of Palestinians also come from a position of racism.

I do think it’s relevant to remind people that Yahyah Sinwar himself had been released in a previous hostage/prisoner exchange.

Indeed. And Many others. While there are some people, particularly young people, who should not be in detention the vast majority are people involved in anti Israel activity including convicted terrorists and murderers and at every deal a huge number are reased for every hostage. The hostages are entirely innocent and no deal should be required for their release. This pattern also happened before 7 October.

Heynonnynonny · 11/09/2025 07:50

It's too depressing reading some of these responses
It's horrific, heartbreaking and beyond comprehension that babies in ICU were left to starve to death, that Palestinian children are actively snipered and jailed and that Israeli politicians openly call for the extermination of all Palestinians saying there are no innocents in Gaza.

But what I find most horrific is that, not only is that depravity not condemned, it is actively supported on Mumsnet by some who just scream 'but Hamas'
Where is your humanity or are you so racist that you simply don't see brown/ Muslim/ Christian children as human beings?

Is it propaganda if it's true?. Must check that one out .

LilyCanna · 11/09/2025 07:06

Fucking hell, the knee jerk defensiveness and lack of human compassion on this thread is quite something.
Kids killed as buildings are flattened, babies dying because formula milk isn’t allowed to be brought in, amputations on children without anaesthetic… and people are arguing that it’s ‘sensationalist’ to describe the scale of the deaths or hold Israel responsible for their actions.

SisterTeatime · 11/09/2025 07:00

SharonEllis · 11/09/2025 06:33

Nonsense. You make out that the deals Hamas agreed to were reasonable. Israel had legitimate reasons to reject them. The problem is you dont take Israel's security concerns seriously so you think they should accept any deal.

Framing this as a “tit for tat over land” is misleading. Israel already controls Gaza’s borders, airspace, and sea. What’s happening isn’t a simple fight over territory but the mass displacement, starvation, and killing of civilians. Nearly 20,000 children have been killed in under two years- that isn’t a land dispute, it’s atrocity-level violence. Israel has repeatedly broken ceasefires and rejected deals that would have brought them home. Even the hostage families accuse Netanyahu of using them as political pawns.

There's no "here we go about it". It's completely tit for tat, and neither side give a damn about the innocents. As I said, it's a brutal, ugly play for territory. Israel wants Gazza, the neighbours want Isreal. The "expendable" Palestinians suffer.

ignoring the gross personal insult/slur of ‘Palestinian loons’…

Yes, October 7th was horrific- nobody is disputing that. But using that one-day atrocity to excuse 23 months of killing one child every hour is grotesque. If your best defence of Israel is “Hamas killed faster,” you’re basically admitting Israel is slaughtering children- just more slowly, and at a far larger total.
