Israel committing genocide in Gaza, world’s top scholars on the crime say

An overwhelming majority of members of the world’s leading genocide scholars’ association have backed a resolution stating that Israel’s actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of the crime.
Eighty-six per cent of those who voted in the 500-member International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) supported the motion. The resolution states that “Israel’s policies and actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide in article II of the United Nations convention for the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide (1948).”

I don't think I saw that post or that poster. I haven't been actively on MN for very long - few months maybe.

I regret any offence given honestly.
I think the murder of the Bibas children is awful. No child should be murdered, it's abhorrent.

What I object to is caring about children's deaths based on their ethnicity and usefulness in making your point. This thread is full of justification and rationalising for the murder of children. It also contains significant doubt given to the death of Hind Rajab despite numerous evidence and independent investigations. Why is questioning the narrative of this death acceptable but questioning whether Israel told the truth in how the Bibas children died not acceptable?
It is contested how they died and I don't believe either Hamas or Israel and there is no independent evidence. It is very useful to Israel to claim they were strangled but there hasn't been any independent verification of this evidence so im not gojng to believe it without evidence. It doesn't make sense to me why Hamas would kill them, it's horrendous but they are simply far more valuable to them alive than dead.

I find bringing the death up of the Bibas children while ignoring the pain of each one of those thousands and thousands of deaths and supporting justifications or excuses for them to be awful and I believe frankly racist.

I do admit that I don't believe Israel. I have seen too much evidence of lies to believe they have any remaining credibility. However I admire and believe in a lot of Israelis such as Ilan Pappe, Ras Segul, the Israelis involved in Breaking the Silence etc.

I am biased but we all are clearly.

The poster I'm referring to was a poster made by Hamas. The poster accused Israel of killing the Bibas children. Another member posted it above. Its hideous. You repeated the propaganda on the poster Hamas made.

I simply don't understand how we got to a place where in 2 separate conflicting narratives, one from a terrorist organization who filmed themselves commiting the most heinous acts at a party, the other carrying out a brutal war against those terrorists, out of those 2 narratives, you find the terrorist narrative the most credible. Despite everything Hamas did that day.

I actually think you're probably just a normal, nice mum like me. But I cannot fathom how we've come to this place.

Yes. We're all biased. But I can still look at all of what Israel is and find lots of positives. I cant find any positives of Hamas.

Yet still, day after day, hatred for Israel, crickets on Hamas. Blame for Israel, no blame for Hamas. Calls for Israel to ceasefire , no calls for Hamas to surrender so it can all stop.

I dont understand.

By the way Tulip, in your post above you said you think its more likely that the Bibas children were killed by an Israeli bomb than murdered by hand.

Do you remember the poster? BN as a vampire? And the words on the poster- " The War Criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi army killed them with missiles from Zionist Warplan"

Remember that?

Literally you believing Hamas over Israel about the murder of 2 innocent children.

Here's what you said again in quotes.

" I find it no more disgusting that the thousands of Palestinian children bombed to death by Israel which is what most likely happened to them also.

I find it highly unlikely that they can tell the cause of death after 3 months of decomposition. It wouldn't be in Hamas' interest to strangle them to death but it is in Israel's interest to say that this is what Hamas did. I haven't seen any evidence to support that conclusion."

I'm still absolutely gobsmacked that you posted that tbh.

So now MSF are Hamas too?

Hope it gets left up.

Ellen2shoes · 05/09/2025 14:49

It certainly does. According to MSF to quote but one, Israel has killed over 60,000 people in a Gaza in just 2 years. Half of these are children. Think of the premature babies left in incubators to die in the bombed out hospitals. 30,000 children and that is considered to be a vast underestimate. So many bodies are still buried under the rubble. Then there are the thousands maimed, still being starved and still being mercilessly bombed in their tents. It is heinously insane. These are innocent children. Israel has been killing an average of 28 children a day for 2 years.

Lolapusht · 05/09/2025 14:44

The links to videos that have been posted to evidence Israel is killing children in drone attacks do not evidence such a claim.

The first seems to be a news piece that quotes the parents/“authorities” who say it was the IDF, but it also says the IDF deny operating in the area of the “aid site” where the children were apparently collecting water. So which version do you believe and why.

The drone footage is difficult to make out so impossible to say if the individuals were children. Adults? Teenagers? There’s no context nor identifying information eg where/when in Gaza was it filmed so it’s not verified. Again, what do you believe and why?

dairydebris · 05/09/2025 14:43

TulipLavender · 05/09/2025 12:53

I'm not taking the word of Hamas.

Ive covered why I believe Israel has no credibility in posts earlier in this thread, providing a number of proven lies.

I believe the evidence shows there is famine and indiscriminate bombing and targeting of civilians. I believe the UN and humanitarian agencies.

Israel has a long history of retaining Palestinian corpses, both sides do, from long before October 7th

Actually comparing a baby and toddler taken hostage and murdered in captivity, with terrorists killed while carrying out terrorist attacks.

This just gets more and more insane.

It's a good thing most people including the hospital don't share your views.

They had the flag of Palestine 🇵🇸 up with pride!

🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

What is there to be proud of, in the flag of Palestine, in the UK?

Am I missing something? Please explain?

Look at Europe.Palestinian network info on latest weaponry used to bomb Palestinian civilians. Yes now. Yes today.

Discrediting Palestinian sources is an essential part of the attempt to silence witnesses and hide the crimes, as is the slaughter of Palestinian journalists and photojournalists. However, there is a mountain of footage and eye witness reportage out there, including from European doctors and surgeons, all of which will be eventually used as evidence in the international court. As I said the world can see. Gaslighting days are over.

Edited

Please link to your source for this claim-

"Now as we speak it is sending remote controlled armed vehicles filled with explosives into refugee camps in Gaza - attacking people they have already displaced and starved."

Its an accusation you made, and I'd like to know if Israel are actually doing that. It sounds fucking terrible.

Thanks.

They are fighting a losing battle.

I visited a hospital children's ward recently and one area had flags of lots of countries. Guess which countries flag they didn't have? Russia and Israel. I did see the flag of Palestine 🇵🇸 hanged up. It would have been insulting to the patients to have the flag of Israel - a country that has and is continuing to murder thousands of innocent children.

And the little Israeli baby and his toddler brother? Strangled by a Hamas 'warrior' with his bare hands? That's up close and personal.
Don't get me wrong. The death of any child is evil - but if Hamas wins, there will be no more Israel. And every Israeli baby and child is likely to look up into the eyes of his / her murderer as they struggle for breath.

Double down news, Novara media, the intercept, the greyzone, Katie Halper show, Declassified UK, Owen Jones also all good sources of information.

😂

TulipLavender · 05/09/2025 12:25

Are you actually being serious?

That is the most ridiculous thing, to say they were children, I have ever seen.

How did whoever posted the drone footage get it from the IDF?

You do know Hamas have drones as well?

The way you worded it was this-

"I do think propaganda will likely exist on both sides, I just happen to believe that there is significantly more evidence and credibility against Israel than on Israel's side."

It just sounds a lot like you just disbelieve everything thats Pro Israel because.... its pro Israel?

Surely each story and source must be taken on its own merit, rather than just discounting out of hand everything thats 'on Israels side'?

Because otherwise isnt it just prejudice?

PinkBobby · 05/09/2025 13:31

CaramelPecan · 05/09/2025 12:16

No evidence for these claims as usual.

The propaganda is ramping up now because of Israel’s operations in Gaza City and Hamas’ forthcoming defeat.

I wish too that young boy could be like other children in the world, studying and having a childhood.

Sadly his elders elected and supported an evil terrorist government and this is the result.

Not all Palestinians in 2006 votes for Hamas. Not all Palestinians support Hamas. No children should be paying for the things their parents or grandparents did or did not do.
