As stated by GHF spokesman Chapin Fay in the below interview with Channel 4 new presenter Krishnan Guru Murthy.

At 7.30 minutes in the video, Mr Fay stated 9 local workers were murdered and the 20 injured were refused treatment at Nasser hospital, where Doctors Without Borders were, and left to die in the courtyard.

These were Palestinians!

Why was there no outcry about this? It seems that they were refused treatment because they were working for GHF. That is shocking.

It was interesting that Mr Fay said GHF is funded by the US as well as several donor countries from Europe who don’t wish to be named.

The whole interview was an absolute car crash and the presenter was totally unprofessional and disgustingly rude IMO, sitting in a comfy newsroom while firing allegations at an organisation who’s workers are at massive risk, getting death threats, and are actually being killed for trying to get free (as it should be) aid to Palestinians and from the response from a lot them at the sites, they are needed.

I think it’s pretty obvious why there has been conflict outside of the aid centres TBH.

I commend Mr Fay on his patience I have to say.

A disgusting smear attempt from Channel 4.

I wonder if Guru Murthy will take up the offer to go into Gaza himself.

Act quickly to avert it.

I agree that it was a terrible thing that Hamas destroyed what looked to be a beautiful Gaza, by building all those tunnels underneath every part of it and booby trapping all those buildings, that the IDF then had to dismantle.

Such a waste.

@Twiglets1 that's a bit of an overreaction to a factual post. I didnt blame anyone , I was just commenting on another poster talking about the risks of this method of aid distribution as I had read about it the other day.
It was a very sad case of a child who was killed by a pallet falling on their head while trying to look for food something we can't imagine.

The aid is on large pallets and the parachute carrying it is very visible in the air. Airdrops have been used for humanitarian aid since WW2 including by the UN.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airdrop

It is tragic a young boy was killed but I find it extremely strange no one saw the pallet and parachute coming.

Nice try. I'm not anti-semitic 😉

The US have killed 6 million Muslims since 2003. For nothing. Bush is a war criminal.

So don't come putting words in my mouth.

There is plenty of official data and reliable news/ sources to prove there is a famine and this is a genocide.

Shalom. Salaam.

I’m not Jewish or Israeli.

Is there a reason you think I am from your greeting?

What has Bush got to do with this?

So the situation being as it is in Gaza at the moment, is it better overall to have airdrops of aid or not? Maybe you should tell all the countries providing the aid not to bother due to health & safety concerns. Write to Egypt, Qatar, US, Germany, France etc & tell them they’re doing more harm than good.

We get it - you are still upset that Israel stopped the old system. But the constant negativity is exhausting.

What a world we live in when people jump on posts obviously having not read or understood them!

Where has anyone on this thread weighed up whether children in a war should be helped?

Do you not think facts matter either or do they only not matter when Israel is involved?

On a population level it isn’t going to make a difference to malnutrition levels, it won’t avert this impending disaster. It’s not enough and it’s not targeted. Israel let allies drop aid to placate them. Allies drop the aid to placate their own populations who are largely horrified by the images coming from Gaza. It is very expensive theatre.

If Israel were very concerned about aid being looted they would not allow completely untargeted aid drops that end up in the hands of the fittest or even those who are armed.

Apparently the air drops provide minuscule amounts of aid.

“The really big issue is aircraft can only deliver one truckload of aid. Gaza needs 500 truckloads a day, so it's 0.2% of the daily need,"

https://news.sky.com/story/why-are-airdrops-on-gaza-so-dangerous-13402889

This link shows that even Israel’s own data shows only 14% of aid needed has entered Gaza since May.

FactCheck: Only 14 per cent of aid needed has entered Gaza since May, Israeli data shows

UN agencies say two in five Gazans are now going days without food.

So David Collier, “award winning journalist” and professional propagandist has diagnosed malabsorption. Failed journalist becomes overnight medic I guess . So if she has malabsorption , it’s still not normal for a child with malabsorption to look like that- malabsorption is treatable. With proper medical care the child should not look like that. I bet there isn’t a single child with malabsorption that looks like that in Israel.

Stripes56 · 17/08/2025 22:38

Some people feel they have been lied to and manipulated by these images.

Not all of us feel the same. I can’t feel manipulated by an image of a child loosing weight in a scenario where most people can agree rationally not enough food is getting through. Were aid agencies and medical staff are talking about malnutrition. I only feel sorrow that this is happening and I was completely avoidable.

I guess people see images and look for confirmation for their underlying beliefs. Maybe despite the evidence people don’t want to believe in food shortages having a significant impact.

Food can be medicine. It wasn’t that long ago that people with Coeliacs got prescriptions for wheat free food in the UK.

Anyho back on the topic of the thread, it seems there were a few medical NGOs at Nasser Hospital when the incident in my OP took place including the British Medical Association.

The original Facebook post from 11th June is in the archive link on the post.

Didn’t think it could get any worse.

Every time you have seen a food crisis play out on your screen, the first images of children who are dying, all are most likely to those who were more vulnerable for some reason. You have just never questioned it before.

I’m not sure why it’s so important for some of you to try and prove that Israel is “only” starving children with medical conditions to death.

It’s been explained multiple times we don’t like being lied to and manipulated by these images purporting to be something they’re not - images of typical Gazan children.

I don’t know if some people lack the ability to understand the nuance or are just pretending not to understand. Probably the latter because it’s not that hard to understand.

@PinkBobby the way you talk it’s like you don’t see a future for Gazans whether Hamas stay or go. Maybe you would prefer to see the war continue indefinitely? Because you’re all negativity so it’s hard to guess what you would consider a step in the right direction?

No I don’t think the UN should coordinate with the GHF. The GHF was set up to fulfil a military goal of Israel and I don’t think the UN should be coordinating with that. Or any genuine aid agencies.

What was the military goal?

To prevent a terrorist government from controlling free aid to control their civilians and fund their terrorist activities that led to the war they are now in?

You don’t support that?

Well in that case do you agree with UN collaboration with the GHF and IDF to facilitate the aid reaching its distribution centres so it can be delivered to all Palestinians?

How do you suggest this happens without that?

I’m not sure what point is being made about the other children not looking like they are as thin as their sister.

There are multiple reasons to suggest that food is in short supply.

There was an editorial about this in Haaretz:

“The plot goes like this: The whole world published a photo of a child who looked like he was starving, in order to blame Israel. But, Israelis across the spectrum insisted, was a lie: the child has a pre-existing genetic condition that explains his appearance. Ergo: There is no starvation in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself said so (though his biggest supporter, Donald Trump, did not agree).”

“One type of lie tries to deflect, accuses the enemy of fabrication, and ignores all other evidence. The fact is that a child can both have a genetic disease and be starving.”

”The second reason to expose the lies Israel is drowning in is this: anyone who believes them must internalize that they may as well be living on another planet.”

The point is Maryam has been portrayed in the MSM as a victim of starvation without the fact she suffers from a condition causing malabsorption which greatly contributes to her emaciated state.

Her siblings do not look thin at all in the video taken by the Turkish media agency. Anyone who insists they are is beyond reasoning with.

Maryam has apparently been treated for her condition for 18 months with a feeding protocol as evidenced in the link in my previous post.

There go this is false representation and her condition is not due to the war.

You may not want to bother with facts but when a whole group of people are hated and being attacked, and in some cases murdered, due to their religion because of the perceived actions of their government or the government of a country they don’t even live in, I think they are incredibly important.

Food absolutely will be short supply because according to UN figures 93.5% of UN aid is diverted to who knows where, but very likely not to ordinary civilians.

Thankfully the GHF was set up so a large amount of food is still getting to people.

The UN also need to be facilitated in distributing aid. This could be anything from being allowed to have the equipment to remove explosives from their path - to more aid corridors to allow them to travel with more safety.

I’m not “against” Aid drops. They are just very ineffective. It costs a lot to deliver small quantities of aid. Sometimes during aid drops they have staff on the ground to coordinate the delivery of aid. The way these aid drops are done means that the strongest, fittest and presumably those with arms get the most aid.

A 14 year old boy was killed in an air drop last Saturday when the pallet dropped on him. The video shows them coming down very fast.

For those of you with no first hand experience of malnutrition here’s a graphic showing starvation deaths, starvation, severe malnutrition, moderate malnutrition. Those most vulnerable usually are at the top of the pyramid. And of course if you start out with a weight of 110kg and loose 20 kg, you’ll still usually be overweight in some degree depending on height and build. Even in the worst famines there are normally survivors .

PinkBobby · 17/08/2025 19:51

@PaxAeterna Re aid drops, I also read that some of them are being dropped into areas that are flagged as conflict zones so civilians aren’t actual able to access them. I’ll try and find the article it was in.

@CyberStranger If you want to wait until everyone in the photos looks like that poor girl to believe the seriousness of the situation, then that’s ultimately up to you. I believe you are ignoring a lot of evidence that tells you everything you need to know.

@Twiglets1 Hamas surrendering tomorrow doesn’t really end this conflict in the sense that the Palestinians pain and suffering with continue for a long time. You have millions of people displaced, medical facilities flattened, homes flattened, severed water pipes and electricity lines, malnourished people, traumatised people, a leadership/ideological vacuum, various armed groups… Israel can go back to normal (apart from the poor hostages’ families or the relatives of dead IDF soldiers) but a huge number of people in Gaza, if they ever get to return to their ‘homes’ have nothing and have lost almost everything. They will be living in tents, relying on a trickle of aid and minimal medical facilities for the foreseeable future, probably with little hope that the newly rebuilt Gaza will actually be for them.

I understand that Hamas must go but the idea that they can stop the pain and suffering anytime soon is, in my opinion, naive. If Hamas surrender, it seems incredibly unlikely at this point that Israel are going rebuild what they destroyed for Palestinian people to live in peace. I guess only time will tell.
