I think one day psychologists will study the effect of Gaza and its optics on the Western population. I have never, ever seen this reaction to a conflict we are not specifically involved in; or one we have actually (I was quite little for the Stop the War March but I don’t remember people having themselves arrested in the hundreds to protest their cause, smashing up shop fronts, damaging works of art/history, etc).

I’m convinced it’s directly linked to self loathing and a pervasive belief that the ultimate symbol of left wing allegiance is to support Islamic countries in their fight against the West (despite the fact they are far more right wing than we have ever been). Throw into the mix the glamour and self righteousness of Antifa etc, and you have a movement which is incredibly ego-driven and fashionable, especially given the likes of Kneecap ‘fighting the authorities’ (twits).

I fully support a ceasefire, aid to the Palestinians, and Netanyahu to go on trial for war crimes so we can establish exactly what has taken place. Well it was only the glass casing around the magna carta that she in fact damaged, before she was apprehended by security.
