Palestine Action demo 9 August

Neither of which are reasons to advocate that people shouldn't be allowed to peacefully protest for freedom for Palestine. Protestors harming property or people, or actively threatening people, should be tried under the law, but I'm not for whole movements being banned unless they have outwardly stated intent to harm others as part of their reason for existing.

As a Jew, I'm not scared of protestors, but I am concerned about the consequences of my supposed safety being used as a means to stifle freedom of expression. The kind of people who use that will be the kind of people quick to turn on us if they decide we're longer useful.

@Bunion8 but the issue isn’t “economic” damage is it? If Al Qaeda directly claimed responsibility for an attack akin to the Brize Norton one would you still see it as legitimate protest or would you see it as terrorism?

I think I would conclude the same based on what I can see as I think Palestine Action are useful idiots but not the types I would worry about being around physically. The TR supporters are thugs and with thuggery usually comes misogyny. But the overall aims are, I think, different. Palestine Action wants a fundamental Islamist state to be created next to Israel, with huge potential for terror cells etc. Whereas TR supporters want curbed immigration in various degrees, which I also do. They are racists though, I’ve seen their comments.

What do you think the link is between radical Islam and Defend our Juries who are hosting the silent protest on Saturday?
I understand the protest is to challenge the proscription of P.Action as a terrorise group, which if left unchallenged had worrying consequences for the right to protest (economic damage being one aspect of protests which are usually dealt with as a civil/criminal matter rather than using terrorise laws).

Islamism is the objectively, quantifiably, confirmed biggest terrorism threat. Only absolute jokers would compare it to the riots and protests taking place here. It’s insulting, actually most insulting to those forced to live hell under ISIS, if they haven’t already been murdered.

Do you remember 9/11? 7/7? Manchester Arena? London Bridge? David Amess? And the many other, smaller scale deadly attacks that have been happening since the millenium? And you’re going to bring up 1 episode of rioting during which thankfully nobody died? You must be having a laugh.

Education is a particularly effective target if you want to influence society. Carnegie wanted people to learn so he funded libraries, if you target what people learn you can change the world.
