Conflict in the Middle East

Many pro-Palestinians DO actually support Hamas

ConscientiousObserver · 01/08/2025 11:07

There I said it.

Obviously they won’t come out and admit it, for fear of exposing themselves as supporters of evil, and also because they worry that they may be traced as it is supposedly illegal to support Hamas, as a proscribed terrorist group.

The evidence is all there -

The blind belief in the blatant Hamas propaganda which defies sense and logic.

The demonising descriptive language used to describe Israel.

The insistence that a war Israel didn’t start justifies Israeli and Jewish people around the work being persecuted, attacked and even murdered.

The protests against Israel but not Hamas who actually started the war.

The complete lack of interest or outrage in the Israeli hostages who actually included children and and a baby.

The calls for immediate ceasefire since the war started with no calls for Hamas to surrender.

The complete lack of accountability for Hamas and Palestinians in general.

I cannot fathom that anyone with a sane mind would support evil, barbaric murderers and rapists who also actively want to get their own civilians killed, and kill them themselves, so can we assume that for these people, their hatred of Israel and the Jewish people is greater than their care for human life as a whole.

A genuine question.

While I don’t dispute that Hamas’s actions and governance have had serious negative impacts on Gaza’s people, it’s important not to lose sight of the broader context.

Looking into the X account (@PeaceComCenter) sharing this video- their content clearly aligns with pro-Israel narratives. Their focus on exposing abuses by Hamas and Hezbollah is real, but it’s used in a way that oversimplifies a very complex situation.

I don’t agree with shifting all blame onto Hamas- erasing the impact of the Israeli blockade, military actions, and broader occupation that have created the humanitarian crisis in Gaza (including famine).

It’s frustrating when people reduce Gaza’s suffering to just “Hamas problems” because it ignores decades of systemic oppression and collective trauma inflicted on Palestinians. If we want honest discussion, we need to look beyond these one-sided narratives.

If anyone wants to dig deeper on the complexity and wider context:

He is inspirational .I was just reading from the link about the "We want to live movement" . Amazing and brave.

People like this incredibly brave man should be amplified instead of hidden. I genuinely pray men like him (the real resistance) can gain control of Gaza. If they do I'd donate my own money to help them.

They have been releasing pictures of kids from Syria or other conflicts, plus pictures of sick kids with medical conditions, and passing them off as Gazans.
Why would they need to do that if there’s a famine in Gaza?

And? Some mislabelled or reused images have circulated on social media in relation to Gaza, as happens in almost every major conflict or humanitarian crisis.

Misuse or misattribution of a few images online doesn’t disprove the reality of what’s happening on the ground. Every major humanitarian organisation, from the UN to Save the Children to Médecins Sans Frontières has confirmed that famine is taking hold in Gaza, especially in the north. Infants are dying from malnutrition and dehydration. That’s not based on social media pictures, it’s based on hospital records, satellite data, and direct witness accounts.

At least 100–110 people have died from malnutrition and dehydration since March 2025, and the majority of those deaths were children

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 06/08/2025 22:51

ConscientiousObserver · 06/08/2025 22:12

Where’s the evidence then?

  • Nearly 60,000 Palestinians killed…
  • 17,000 children dead…
  • UN, WFP, and UNICEF confirm: children are now dying from hunger in Gaza
  • UN Special Rapporteur: Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war
  • B’Tselem: this is deliberate, systematic deprivation
  • Israeli NGOs confirm aid has been blocked and convoys bombed
  • Videos and soldier testimonies show children, medics, and journalists targeted
  • May 2024: UN says famine is imminent due to Israeli blockade
  • March 2024: Israel bombs UNRWA food warehouse
  • Human rights organisations including Amnesty, HRW, and Yesh Din: this is apartheid and ethnic cleansing
  • ?

You’re not asking for evidence though. You’re rejecting it because it indicts the side you support.

Oh I have evidence. You just don’t like where it points.

Since October 2023, over 17,000 children have been killed in Gaza. That’s not collateral damage- that’s a massacre. And yes, Israel has deliberately starved Palestinians. The UN and multiple human rights groups have explicitly said so:

  • In June 2024, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese stated Israel is using starvation “as a method of warfare.”
  • Gisha, an Israeli NGO, confirmed that Israel intentionally blocked aid trucks, food, and fuel.
  • B’Tselem, another Israeli human rights group, calls it “deliberate and systematic deprivation.”
  • Even the World Food Programme and UNICEF have stated that children in Gaza are now dying of hunger because aid is being withheld.

And let’s talk snipers and drones:

  • Videos from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and independent journalists show soldiers targeting children, medics, and journalists.
  • Israeli soldiers themselves have leaked footage and testimonies of deliberately firing at unarmed civilians.
  • As early as 2018, Israeli snipers admitted to shooting at protestors- many of them children- during the Great March of Return.

You talk about “millions of tonnes of aid”- yet in May 2024, every major UN agency said famine was imminent and that Israel was blocking or destroying most convoys. Israel even bombed the UNRWA food warehouse in March. There were weeks where zero aid trucks got in. So yes, famine is the intended outcome. That’s what happens when you choke a population of 2.3 million people.

“Why are Palestinians different to any other person suffering in a war?”

Because their suffering is not just war- it’s occupation, blockade, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing. That’s not just my view- Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Israeli groups like Yesh Din and B’Tselem have all called it apartheid.

And let’s be really honest- you’re not “more concerned” about other crises. You bring them up only to shut down conversation about Palestine. That’s not compassion. That’s whataboutism.

And for the record, if you cared about any human life- you wouldn’t be justifying 21 months of mass killing and starvation with the lazy line:

“civilians die, they even starve, in every fucking war.”

You said it. Not me. That sentence says more about your values than mine ever could.

Where’s the evidence then?

Oh missed that.

Why don’t you show your independent ‘evidence’ that Israel has deliberately starved and murdered Palestinians?

All the non existent videos of soldiers sniping kids and firing drones on them? Evidence of how many tonnes of food has gone into Gaza?

Why are you offended by the last sentence in your post ? It’s the truth is not?

No one should suffer in wars at all because they shouldn’t be started in the first place by a blood thirsty terrorist organisation who you vote into your government, but why are Palestinians different to any other person suffering in a war? Why haven’t they been given safe refuge.

A right of return means shit if you’re dead, right?

I’m actually more concerned about the Druze women and children kidnapped by Al Jolani’s animals in Syria at the moment and the kids who are experiencing extreme hunger in Sudan, and also the Israeli hostages whose current state show the hellish situation they have been put in for almost 2 years, than the Palestinians who have had millions of tonnes of aid go in and have an opposing army who do more to prevent civilian casualties than any other army.

It’s their own government entity they need to be fearful of and worry about.

I’ll never forget listening to Tony Benn in the last years of his life at the Speaker’s Tent at Glastonbury. I went to see him religiously every year. With tears in his eyes, he spoke about how, after the Second World War, Britain helped feed the German people even though it was deeply unpopular with many here at home. He reminded us that not only was it the right thing to do, but it was how you stop future wars from happening.

And it wasn’t just words. Through initiatives like the Marshall Plan and British food aid, we sent thousands of tons of supplies into a broken, starving country. At a time when Britain itself was under strict rationing, with bombed-out cities and a shattered economy, we still found a way to share because , and it's worth saying again it was the right thing to do. With apologies to Shakespeare.

“Hath not a Palestinian eyes?
Hath not a Palestinian hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions?
Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons,
Subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means,
Warmed and cooled by the same sun and moon as an Israeli is?
If you prick us, do we not bleed?
If you tickle us, do we not laugh?
If you poison us, do we not die?
And if you wrong us, shall we not seek justice?”

Well, the war has not ended in Gaza and Israel between Hamas and Israel, has it?

All Hamas has to do is surrender and acknowledge that any legitimacy that it has as to being representative of Gaza or any Palestinian territory is over.

Then the winner Israel and her allies can concern themselves more than Hamas has ever done , with the physical and material needs of a Gaza that has never known suffering like this , caused by Hamas.

But in the meantime, Israel should be the priority of the Israeli government and should not be expected to be the Mother Courage of Gaza in lieu of Hamas and any failure to try and overthrow them by Gaza civilians a la Italians and Mussolini when they could see that Mussolini, like Hamas was prepared to suicide Italy rather than surrender.....

The ball is in Hamas and Gazans' hands, as seemingly tied as they may seem to them.

But there is precedent pertaining to accepting defeat, surrender or in lieu of that , uprising of a hungry, environment destroyed, desperate population who are not prepared to throw the baby out of the bathwater, due to love of self and country.

You will complain about the source but ask yourself why you dismiss a British military expert over terrorist extremists.

Would you if it was any other country other than Israel involved?

Would you believe him if he wasn’t on Israel’s side?

If Richard was getting paid, which he has been clear he isn’t, do you not think those spewing Hamas propaganda aren’t either?

Colonel Richard Kemp comes across as a modern-day Colonel Blimp bombastic, blinkered, and wheeled out whenever a militarised opinion is needed. He spent years focusing on Ukraine before abruptly pivoting to Israel a couple of years ago. Frankly, he’s a gun for hire, and I’d be surprised if he isn’t being handsomely paid by Israeli interests for his commentary. I don’t consider him a credible or independent voice in any meaningful sense.

Oh and this

https://bylinetimes.com/2025/06/20/bbc-israel-charity-commission/

What listeners were not told – again – is that Kemp is a director and trustee of UK Friends of the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel’s Soldiers (UK-AWIS), a British charity that raises money to support the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

In April 2017, a column written by Kemp and published in the Jewish News suggested that Baroness Warsi had sought to excuse the conduct of the Islamic State group. The Jewish News was subsequently ordered to pay £20,000 in damages plus costs to Warsi.[34] In its public apology, the Jewish News stated

In a column written by Colonel Richard Kemp published in the Jewish News and jewishnews.co.uk on 6 April 2017, it was suggested that Baroness Sayeeda Warsi has sought to excuse the appalling conduct of the barbaric Islamic State terror group. The column also suggested that Baroness Warsi has objected to action being taken against British Muslims who murder and rape for Islamic State. We wish to make absolutely clear that these allegations were wholly untrue and should never have been published.[35]

Warsi donated the damages to a charity for Muslim and Jewish women.[35] Kemp himself did not issue an apology, and was accused by Warsi of appearing "to wantonly publish inflammatory and offensive comments without a thought for the consequences (let alone the truth)."[34]

What" True colours"?
The fact that the poster knows that nobody dies " prettily" in war, that losing a war often means that the losing side suffered more, even far more civilian and military casualties than the winning side?

That suggestion in war often manifests itself in many collective ways, including starvation, especially for the civilians on the losing side ( post WW2 Berlin comes to mind) and is not a reality that has only come with the Hamas Israel war.

Funny how the current starvation of unambiguously Black Sudanese in Sudan was only met by an attempt at debate stifling by way of ambiguous accusations of ominous character for presenting truth that circular thinking cannot seem to countenance, lest the dissonance frazzle the neutrons.

No i don't see some truth. The word "many" means a lot. It doesn't mean a small number of extremists.
Just as the phrase "many supporters of Ireal support the starvation of babies" isn't true.

Fair enough. I appreciate the clarification especially as Israel supporters on these threads often do get accused of supporting babies being starved.

Not by you though.

I agree with you that neither views are widely held (apart from by a small number of people with extremist views).

As would I use the word "some", because while we don't actually know the exact proportion, I choose to believe that most pro Palestinians don't support Hamas.

You missed out the little word "many."

As it happens I don't agree with OP that many pro-Palestinians do actually support Hamas. But it's logical to assume that some do, or why aren't both sides equally critical of Hamas? Why do some act as though Israel is at war with the civilians of Gaza rather than at war with Hamas? Lots of posters on these threads are uncomfortable with even discussing who started this war and mock those that even mention it, "but Hamas..."

You're smearing an entire group of people with a vague, largely unprovable accusation simply to deflect from the real elephant in the room: the utter carnage of the war in Gaza. So yes, “look over there” is more than justified.

And by the way, the debate was chaired by the brilliant Jolyon Rubinstein. When someone suggested that parts of the discussion were antisemitic, he calmly reminded them of his surname.

What, so just because someone is Jewish or has a Jewish surname that means it's impossible for them to hold any antisemitic views?

It's not the Gotcha you think it is.

I'm a woman but I can still hold views that are discriminatory against women. I don't think I do but I absolutely could.
