50 Jewish children kicked off plane, female supervisor allegedly beaten to the ground and handcuffed!

Another shocking act of global antisemitism.

50 French Jewish kids aged 10-15 apparently attended a summer camp in Spain.

On the flight back to France, before takeoff while plane still on tarmac, they were accused of being rowdy and singing ‘Death to Arabs’ in Hebrew (no evidence they were saying that). Police were called, they were told to get off and their 21 year old female supervisor ended up being beaten to the ground and forcibly handcuffed.

According to witnesses on the plane, the children stopped singing when asked and were well behaved, and nothing was amiss. The crew made a tannoy announcement that there were security concerns and police entered the plane and told the kids to get off. The female supervisor was ordered to make the kids hand over their phones so footage of them being removed from the plane could be deleted and she was beaten to the ground and handcuffed when she refused. The Captain allegedly said Israel was a terrorist state.

She later had to sign an NDA to be released.

The Captain has been identified as being a flying instructor for two of the 9/11 plane hijackers.

Woah, you’re putting a lot of words in my mouth.

It has been reported multiple times that that was chanted, and that the children were being disruptive and interfering with safety equipment. Why are you so determined to not believe that?

It’s been reported where exactly? The airline’s official statement doesn’t mention it.

A 21 year old in charge of 50 kids on her own?

Yes this

I have no idea what French child safeguarding policies are like but this is well below any child/ adult ratios I know. I think it is logical to suggest that if the kids were a bit disruptive the airline may have had concern over adequate supervision on the plane when in flight and the group taken off until these issues could get rectified. Airline partly to blame for allowing this booking. Once they're on the plane it is the pilot that makes the ultimate decision of who can fly. Many people get taken off planes if they look too drunk it is a preventative measure because once you're in flight and things kick off safety is a massive concern.

I would imagine the supervisor may have been a bit confrontational and got arrested it doesn't take much to be arrested at an airport or on a flight for obvious reasons.

There were 7 adults supervising.

44 minor children, 3 adult aged campers, the camp leader and 4 counselors. It wasn't one 21 year in charge of 50 kids. That sounds like perfectly adequate ratios for those age groups to me. Airlines presumably take bookings like that all the time.

I agree if 50 teenagers were disruptive then they should be removed. It’s a very unusual in a situation like this though. Normally the kind of behaviour that warrants eviction is associated with adult drunkenness etc .
The manhandling and handcuffing of the 21 year old woman appeared excessive and unnecessary. Was she presenting a threat?
It all needs to be properly investigated.

I don't think that's true any disruptive behaviour or safety concerns you will be removed from flight drunk or not. Pilots don't take any chances with passenger safety and if you've got a plane of 50 kids on board who are being disruptive and you perceive there to be inadequate supervision you are unlikely to take the risk. Any risk assessment would lead to that conclusion in my opinion

It hasn't been reported in any credible new sources, it seemed to spread from a highly dubious Twitter post and has no corroboration from any party involed.

(I do see The Canary has picked it up as if it were fact).

With no answer on source it seems that disinformation is spread quickly online.

Hmmm. But nut-job or not, he does seem to admit that bad behaviour took place.

I guess with them being kids they wouldn't have been drinking alcohol, but otherwise it does all sound a bit 'stag do' type behaviour, admitted by Chikli.

A 21 year old in charge of 50 kids on her own?

That was always going to be a disaster and it was totally irresponsible to start with.

It just sounds to me like th crew had safety concerns that the kids were rowdy and bothering other passengers and that their carer could not handle them.

They made the sensible decision to ask them to leave before taking off.

Then it seems some people with agenda got involved and are trying to claim they were targeted just because they were Jewish which frankly just sounds like nonsense and trying to curry some sympathy while the world is now seeing the true horror of children starving to death in Gaza...

The crew's priority is the safety of the aircraft and of all passengers. Not political games.

I found this and it seems to be contradictory. Why get them to hide their religious and cultural identity and then allow them to sing Hebrew songs (note, the comment about the singing was made by Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora and Combating Antisemitism - so presumably a credible source)?

They could have been understandably worried about being subject to antisemitic attention, hence hiding their identities. But why out themselves by singing in Hebrew? And why sing at all in public? Imagine 50 British kids singing. No one wants to hear that in a public place.

'Thecampdirectorsinstructedthecampersto hide their Jewish identities as much as possible, by removing their yarmulkas and tzitzis and checking in tefilin under the plane.'

'Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora and Combating Antisemitism, posted to X that 50 Jewish French children were removed from their flight by Spanish police after some sang Hebrew songs before departure. He calls it one of the most serious of a spate of recent antisemitic incidents.'

It DOES seem to contain evidence that some unacceptable behaviour took place. An admission from an Israeli source.

Regardless of what happened or didn't happen on the plane...What's happening to Palestinian children is irrelevant in regards to this story.

One article states she had to be forcibly removed from the plane as she refused to leave when asked. If that was the case, should they just leave her there and further disrupt the flight for all of the other passengers as she isn't posing a threat?

OpheliaWasntMad · 26/07/2025 10:16

windyfarmers · 26/07/2025 10:05

There is no evidence for either side, except the adult being handcuffed and they all agree she was later released. Maybe we should reserve judgement until we DO have some evidence. But if 50 anyone were being disruptive I'd want them to kick them off the plane, don't care what they're saying or in what language.

Nonsense. School groups and similar fly all the time. Most behave themselves. There were seemingly 8 or so adults on this trip. Perfectly adequate supervision for this age group usually. If the supervising adults were unable to control the kids they should have disembarked of their own accord.

windyfarmers · 26/07/2025 10:05

Anonimummy · 25/07/2025 21:27

So from the responses, posters on here would be OK with 50 French Arab Muslim children, who have nothing to do with the Palestinians, being forcibly kicked off a plane by Spanish armed police for saying something in Arabic, and their young female supervisor being beaten to the ground and forcibly put into handcuffs because she refused to hand over the kids phones, because of what Hamas did on Oct 7th?

You also wouldn’t believe the children or witnesses that they weren’t being disruptive, despite there being no evidence that they were?

I wonder how many answers I’ll get to that……….

So you genuinely believe that children were kicked off a flight just for being Jewish?

I was disinclined to believe but, currently, I really don't think it can be ruled out. There seem to be multiple unaffiliated passengers* siding with the children and I've yet to see any support the airline.

*the organization's lawyer says she has multiple witness statements, one passenger gave an interview in the French press, and a couple of the social media posts purporting to be witness accounts seem to have an air of legitimacy.

SequinsandSoleros · 26/07/2025 09:53

50 French rowdy teens kicked off plane

Irrespective of nationality, all groups that size need four adults with them telling them to stop any shenanigans.

Should not have been described as Israeli or Jewish - that equates to profiling. However, fifty teens being unruly - this is also credible.

Because OP keeps going on about it, whilst ignoring the claims around the children being unruly.

It’s not just the OP who “keeps going on about it”.
Several people on this thread said “oh, so you think it’s okay to chant ‘death to Arabs’” without there being any proof that that’s what actually happened.

OpheliaWasntMad · 26/07/2025 09:48

Cornettoninja · 26/07/2025 09:35

I don’t disagree but that’s a separate incident isn’t it ? It has nothing to do with why the group of teenagers were removed from the flight.

I don’t see the value in conflating the two incidences in this discussion in particular. It’s perfectly possible the teenagers were being rowdy and disruptive and the minister is antisemitic. Only one event influenced the other.

The Spanish minister made a public statement about the case and his statement is part of the discussion because of the assumptions he has made about the children without evidence.
( similar to the posters on here)

The point of what chants were being sung is irrelevant since the airline haven’t included it as part of their reasoning for kicking the teenagers off and it’s being denied that they were sung.

you’re getting you knickers in a twist over songs that have been denied as sung when there are no formal accusations in the first place.

It might be irrelevant in regards to whether or not the airline was right to kick them off, it’s very relevant though that so many people on sm seem almost gleeful to keep claiming that a group of Jewish kids was chanting “death to Arabs”.
Don’t you see the issue with this, especially in the current climate?
So far, there doesn’t seem to be any proof they chanted it.
Interestingly though, many people don’t wait for “formal accusations“ and just happily repeat the claim that Jewish kids were being racist to Arabs.
