I will be brutally honest why. Two reasons- non Caucasian ( considered less of a human for G7); not an ally ( no value for West). What we are seeing is a genocide

I'm well aware of how it works...I've read several books on famine.

We were told over a year ago that Gaza was on the brink of famine....how long can people, even healthy adults survive without food.... certainly not more than a year.

The starving children I've seen on the news have had underlying medical conditions...tragic of course.

I recently visited Jordan and they cannot (even if they were willing, understandably they are not) take more in. The situation in the area is dire. They are only just now starting to see movement of Syrians back to Syria. The north is fucked, the poverty is something many who never seen it cannot imagine properly.
The infrastructure in many areas is not keeping up.
"Why don't they take them? Don't they have heart?" is quite crass thinking about nation hosting millions of refugees to their own detriment if I am honest.
And anyone else has learned their own lessons before. No one wants to risk destabilising their country at the time when stability is needed and frankly, rare.

It isn't a competition! What didn't happen was people on here deny or belittle what happened to them and showed nothing but horror and empathy. Most rational thinking people don't like to see anyone suffering and don't deny the realty of what is happening

Good points. It's something that so many people seem to brush over when discussing this conflict because their hatred for anything Israeli is so strong now.
If Israel suddenly allowed all citizens to leave Gaza, many other countries, due to things that have occurred in the past, would not be keen to take refugees from there anyway.
I've not seen many mentions of what happened in places like Kuwait.
It's all very well people shouting at anyone who discusses these things saying that they don't care about children dying etc but it's so important to look at what has happened in this region for so many years and why it's really not as simple as just saying we need to stop all the killing immediately.
I want this awful situation to end ASAP but there needs to be discussions, as uncomfortable as they might be, as to why and how things have got to this place to start with.

Because the Palestinians in the Middle East are about as popular as the Roma in Europe. Nobody wants them and nobody is going to open up the borders to let them in.

Egypt turned on Palestinians in the 60s and 70s and has only got more repressive, particularly in relation to anything they perceive as Islamic terrorism (having had their own issues with Muslim Brotherhood - they're not going to be cheerily welcoming in anyone who might conceivably be associated with Hamas, by which they mean anyone in Gaza).

Lebanon keeps Palestinians literally behind walls, which were just about large enough to accommodate them at the end of WWII but is nowhere near sufficient for future generations. The Lebanese government gives zero fucks about the human rights of the Palestinians there. They are mostly denied citizenship, identity documents, education, employment and freedom of movement.

Jordan doesn't allow all Palestinians citizenship particularly anyone from Gaza. ECOI information says that they live in poverty and suffer continuous discrimination.

The innocent people in Gaza should be evacuated - the problem is that the neighbouring countries are very cynical about who is an innocent person, and don't want them even if they are. And would Hamas allow their civilian shield to be evacuated anyway? I'n not at all sure that they would, even if a country could be found which would willingly take them. I'd gladly vote (from my glorious position as a voting woman in a democratic society) for a policy which would bring civilian Gazan Palestinians here to the UK, but I strongly suspect I would not be on the winning side of that vote.
