What’s really surprising is that Israel has carried out the actions in Palestine (and elsewhere) that it has, and still gets so offended when anyone suggests it is less than laudable.

Apologies.

Trying to shame people into stopping saying what they are seeing doesn't work. You know that right? It's been tried for nearly two years and like I said Israel have never been less popular and more people than ever before are watching them.

I really don't care if you or anyone else think that I hate Israel, it's no skin off my nose. It doesn't look like anyone else cares at this stage either, certainly not Francesca Albanese who is going to keep on saying what she sees despite the bullyboy tactics being imposed on her.

If you feel ashamed that's up to you. Albanese also hates Israel, has been publicly called out by several countries for antisemitic statements and is known to be probably one of the world's most obvious jew haters. You're a fan it seems. Anyway got better things to do

MushMonster · 16/07/2025 18:26

@MisanthropeLikely Your reply is a good example.
I believe that the UN is a good witness to the state of affairs around the world, reports fairly and it is diversity is a true reflection of its important. Whatever a UN made up of only a few similar countries mean? Nothing, to me. I like the idea of debating issues, and signing and implementing agreements. Instead of wars. Wars destroy everything. It is good to hear all opinions. Actually, specially that of those different to yourself.
UK does not need other new allies to replace Israel...... it is just the natural conclusion. We really have zilch in common by now.

Do you post like that about Palestine, China, Russia, Sudan, Yemen, Iran, Congo, Syria, Iraq, Haiti? Are you on a thread elsewhere doing that? If yes, then maybe you just speak like that. If not, you just hate Israel.

The vast contrast of opinions and morals in issues like Francesca Albanese (who is a member of the UN, for the love of God!) between the UN signatories, like Europe, and Israel is proof enough that we no longer have principles, goals and morals in common. Completely different and imcompatible societies, if the marked opposition to the UN runs deep within Israelis, and not only their current government. And it very much looks like this aversion is not found only within Netanyahu's cabinet, but well further afield in Israel. We should stop calling each other allies and step away from any past coallition. We are opposed in far too many views of the world and what we want going further.

The UN is made up of dozens of communist, Arab and muslim countries that hate israel.
That's who votes against Israel generally and why there's like a zillion resolutions against Israel.

That, along with the way the UN and it's agencies do stuff like have textbooks wiping out their country or join in kidnapping them is probably why Israel isn't too keen.

Do u think Britain's new allies should be Iran, China, Russia, Qatar, North Korea, Venezuela? More your type?

To be honest I reckon the behaviour of the UN will be it's downfall and it won't exist soon, at least not with the status it did.

So, it's not possible to speak out against it? No criticism at all? No criticism of how the Palestinians are treated? West Bank settler violence?

Perhaps sanctions when it became apparent that the IDF were targeting civilians and children, hospitals etc. in Gaza? Oh, I know, don't tell me, Hamas.

Where did I say you couldn't criticise? Im really fucking bored of saying yes I criticise the Israeli government. Yes you can too. Its a free country say what you like. 'Tolerate' has a different meaning and very different implications and they weren't talking about individuals, they were talki g about 'the West'.

@Anonimummy ”It's a shame but there is no redemption arc in Israels future.”

After years of terrorisism, this is where the Palestinians find themselves now. At the end of the arc.
Which is why no government is riding to their rescue.

That quote wasn’t me. I responded to it though.

Hang on, are you saying outside governments should get involved in Israeli domestic politics?

Well of course I like the idea that Israel is unpopular right now. Why would anyone like to think that a country responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, racial segregation, illegal occupation, a country starving people, then shooting them, then planning to push all of those starving into a camp before they ethnically cleanse them was popular? It would completely destroy your belief in humanity if popular opinion was that that was ok.

Because its fucked in the head. During world war 2 when the nazis had just gassed million of Jews and killed loads of people, no one was blethering away about their being no redemption arcs. Sounds like you're more interested in hating a country (which is genuinely weird) than anything good.

🤦🏼‍♀️ because it shows that the west has been tolerating this for three years and continues to tolerate it.

I didn't say that. I posted an article from 2022 that said he was sworn in.....in 2022.

Why?

Yes, and the fact that it's difficult to convey over text.

Please point out where I have expressed support for Smotrich or his policies. It's a rich of you to criticise others for smearing when you come out with that.

I've never seen anyone express support for Smotrich here.

Twiglets1 · 16/07/2025 15:08

smallglassbottle · 16/07/2025 14:30

Well yes, I know that. Their far right government has been in place for three years. Nobody seems to mind though.
