Israels plan for Gazas future

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Monday that he has instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of Rafah, which would eventually house the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

According to Katz, the plan involves moving 600,000 Palestinians, primarily from the al-Muwasi area, into the new zone after security screening. Once inside, residents would not be allowed to leave, the defense minister said.

Katz added that, if conditions permit, construction of the "city" would begin during the 60-day Israel-Hamas cease-fire currently under negotiation.

It's funny because I have seen you on posts where proganda like that has been spread, the pregnant woman one is particularly used on here and you never call them disturbing then. You never say anything at all when people are talking about how awful Hamas are for doing that. I'll be sure to watch out for you correcting such awful things in future.

I've literally never heard of some of the things you mentioned earlier.

Babies being cut out of pregnant women's stomachs maybe in the early days of the war I may have read about and not commented as probably horrified and not knowing if they could be true or not.

But listing all that gory made up stuff was like something out of a horror movie, it should have come with a trigger warning. And for what purpose?

Twiglets1 · 11/07/2025 22:33

Well if people don't think Israel has the right to defend themselves from Hamas then that is just antisemitic (and I'm not a person who throws that term around often at all, this may be the first time).

We might disagree on these boards about whether Israel still should be attacking Hamas so long after October 7th 2023.

But to suggest that a country doesn't have the right to defend itself against terrorists at all ... that's a new low.

Not what I said at all.

veiledsentiments · 11/07/2025 22:35

I think Israel, with its disproportionate response to Hamas, has caused a shit load more problems to Israel than it was facing before October 7th. And you can thank the Israeli government for that.

Twiglets1 · 11/07/2025 22:33

veiledsentiments · 11/07/2025 22:20

But so are you. You have posted information just now which is outdated by a year. You posts things that suit your narrative. You now think Israel should have the right to defend itself from Hamas, because that’s what YOU now believe. Not everyone agrees with you, and you don’t seem to want to accept this. I find your posts on critical thinking, quite frankly, insulting. Not everyone is an idiot. And some people might know just as much as you. Accept it and move on.

Just to be clear, you don't think Israel has the right to defend itself from Hamss. Is that what you are saying?

Forges' knowledge is demonstrably far superior to anyone else's here.

I don’t believe that Hamas is Israels real problem anymore, no.

I meant why are you still trying to score points by repeating the most disgusting propaganda that none of us said about babies in ovens and on washing lines etc.

Please just stop, I'm sure I'm not the only one who found your post upsetting.

I think you are reading things you have seen repeated on other sites like Reddit or something and bringing your anger to Mumsnet.

The things you said are mentally disturbing and not something I have seem often repeated but then I don't use social media beyond MN.

Nope. I'm not angry either, don't try that nonsense. I was responding to a post on 'embellishing' and pointing out where it began in this conflict.

They are mentally disturbing I can't imagine who dreamt up such awful things and decided to tell the world that they happened and what their motivations behind it were? It's a pretty awful thing for people to do, spread such stories knowing that they are false.

So I'm not allowed to talk about where the fake news in this conflict started because it was so long ago? Oct 7 2023 was so long ago that we just shouldn't talk about what happened and what was reported at the time?

You're not reading ny posta, so I'll post this again:

The specific UNOSAT report I shared is from September 2024, but it's still considered reliable because it contains the most detailed breakdown available.

Since then, several updates- including one in April 2025 -have confirmed that destruction has continued, especially in areas like Rafah but on a hugely smaller scale.

While newer data shows the overall percentage of damaged structures has risen slightly (to around 69% from 66%), the proportion of buildings that are completely destroyed remains broadly consistent, estimated at around 20%, which is only an imcrease of 0.2% from the full report.

So although the report is several months old, its key conclusions are still valid and in line with more recent assessments from the UN and other sources. It is also the source data used by UNRWA, so if you don't like my facts, perhaps you should discard theirs too

It's interesting that people suddenly learn to fact check when they don't like the information.

Could you link to the April 2025 report I can't find it online.

I am not doubting the veracity of the information in the report merely indicating that a report a year old measuring destruction in an ongoing conflict may not be the most accurate up to date information.

I didn't deliberately pick the most dreadful. I deliberately picked the most oft repeated. The ones we still see repeated today by people who read what made it into headline news and who never saw the corrections, if there were any.

I made a typo in an otherwise completely accurate post and immediately apologised. My God you are desperate here!

It wasn't a typo. People don't accidently type abouts toddlers being stabbed. It's not just a coincidence that that same propaganda has been flying around since Oct 7.

The Israel supporters on here do not regularly repeat those horrible atrocities you listed (thankfully not real but the mental images are scarring).

I believe Forges said one thing you about toddlers killed in playschool that you challenged them on and they apologised.

Why on earth are you still going on about it today and adding in some extremely graphic things they did not say?

You said that multiple toddlers had been stabbed to death in a kindergarten or playschool or somewhere. Something that was propaganda being spread at the beginning of this conflict. The rest was propaganda being spread by others including the president of the US.

Edited

Okay, but you just posted "90% of Gaza is demolished" when there's freely available information online that confirms its estimated ~66% of builds have been damaged and ~30% of those are demolished.

So it's not true that 90% of Gaza is demolished, the true data estimates approximately 19% of all buildings in Gaza are estimated to be completely destroyed. Which is a massive difference isn't it?

Facts really do matter. People seem to be more interested in demonising than assessing the reality. They're trying IMO to take something bad and shape the narrative to make it sound worse.

The destruction is catastrophic. Increased massively by the fact Israel is trying to destroy a tunnel network longer than average cities metro as they go, in one of the most densely built up areas on earth, in which there's a vast number of booby traps set.

Compared with other brutal urban conflicts, in cities like Grozny 60–70% were demolished, in Mariupol 50–60%, in Dresden ~75% of the city centre, in Aleppo 33–40%. So it's bad, but 19% is starkly different from 90%.

But so are you. You have posted information just now which is outdated by a year. You posts things that suit your narrative. Plus @ForgesOfEmpires already apologised for getting something wrong. You quite deliberately repeated the most horrific propaganda you know to be untrue.

If it's the worst war ever, why the need to always embellish? I've never seen that happen before with any conflict.

I was replying to this. Those stories were the beginning of that in this conflict wasn't it? Straight out of the gate Biden was standing on stage repeating dreadful 'embellished' stories. Social media and newspapers were awash with these stories that never happened from day dot.

I have a degree and two Masters. I am well able to do critical thinking and self-reflect.
