You have this very black and white view about “winners” and “losers” and losers just having to suck up what happens to them. This is not a way of thinking that leads to peace.

The Palestinians who lost their homes had weak leadership, little say in the war and were not actually leading it.

But this isn’t about having sympathy for people.

It’s about recognising that the Nakba and the subsequent laws that were passed to stop people returning are a root cause of violence today because the situation was never resolved. Acknowledging this would be part of a true and genuine peace process.

You see this type of thing, where both sides stories and pain are acknowledged in lots of peace processes, like the Gacaca courts in Rwanda. Something similar in South Africa too after apartheid.

Im not deflecting. I thought this happened as a consequence of the war. I did a brief search and it looks like that law was passed in Dec. In which case it happened after the Arab League declared war. I haven't time to research this fully right now which is why I asked if I was wrong.
If this happened as a consequence of losing the war they started then my sympathy is in line with this most recent war. Civilians suffer the consequences of the Palestinian piss poor leadership and decision making.

I do hate that we see the devastation that the Israeli army has created and don’t understand the justification for it. The IDF always tell us when they target high ranking Hamas officials, so it would be understandable to then not link the deaths of multiple innocent people to the targeting of lower ranking officials- which then raises worries about proportionality.

There is now some evidence to suggest that this renowned Cardiologist was specifically targeted by the IDF by a precise missile into his room.

He was the 70th healthcare worker murdered in the last 50 days. He was also one of only two remaining heart specialists in the territory. His death means that all of the directors of the hospitals in northern Gaza have either been killed or detained by the Israeli military forces.

Doesn’t look good. I will watch the documentary- as it doesn’t look good. And no, it’s not because I hate Jewish people.

Some experts and organisations have decided the war is a genocide, other experts and organisations have not come to the same conclusion.

The UK government's position is that the question is one for international courts to decide and they do not currently categorise the war as a genocide.

Calling it a genocide at this point in time appears to be opinion rather than fact.

And the soldiers and contractors in Gaza do not all say the same thing, of course. It's disingenuous to suggest people are ignoring what the soldiers themselves say when you yourself are only listening to the "whistleblowers" who may or may not be telling the truth. The main one is a disgruntled ex contractor who had been sacked according the the GHF, so who knows the truth about their motives.

It's far more likely that all of the experts and organisations who have studied what is happening and decided that it is genocidal just really hate Israel.

No not fun. The ICJ case presented evidence that there was a systematic targeting of health care workers and that this is part of a pattern that aims to destroy the basics of life in Gaza. deliberately inflicting the conditions of life calculated to bring about a groups destruction.

In December 1948 Israel passed Emergency Regulations Regarding Absentee Property this meant Israel could seize the property of anyone that fitted the term absentee.
However "absentee" refered to anyone who was a citizen of an Arab state or went to an area not under Jewish control. If they left their house for one day it could be seized as it was classed as an abandoned property.

So they were expected to give up their house and still to this day this continues. They also have to pay for the demolition of their own houses.

No cause of death was given by the Israeli prison service and when probed they say what they always do. They will 'investigate' themselves.

What about the medics who Israel killed point blank and buried their ambulances? From the start of the war there has been a systematic attack on the health care system in Gaza.

That is not true. Doctors have even died whilst being held in Israeli custody. Like Dr Adnan Al Bursh who was featured in the film and murdered in the notorious sde Teiman prison.

But even in war there is international law to follow.
What threat was being faced by Israel to make this killing proportionate? The IDF don’t even bother telling us as Palestinians lives seem meaningless to them.
Do we know which Hamas big wig the IDF was aiming for the when they killed this family? If not - how can we know it was proportionate?

In case you weren't aware there are Israeli mum's on here, they write about running to shelters/safe rooms through the night and day with their kids. Of being constantly aware of where the public shelters are when out and about, or in the absence of one, lying on the ground covering their kids as the missiles go over. (A common occurrence since hamas took over Gaza 20 years ago when all Israelis left, and then in cahoots with Hezbollah in Lebanon started lobbing thousands of rockets over or strapping on suicide vests to use in crowded cafes & buses.)
