Palestinian does not equal Hamas in the same way Irish does not equal IRA.... the large majority of people affected by the genocide in gaza are innocent children. People can protest against the murder of children while still being against hamas.

If someone was supporting the killers of my parents or siblings and shouting fuck you at me while waving the flag under which the killing is happening I would find that very intimidating and feel unsafe, wouldn't you?

People on marches protest for all sorts of reasons. They do not always align. Protesters at the same march do not all belong to the same groups or think the same things. Not everybody is tribal. So when you keep banging on about “them” and “they” you need to be very specific about who you are talking about. Because I’m sure you would hate it if someone decided that every single English person thinks the same way about every subject, right? Why not open your mind a little to the idea that people outside of your limited frame of reference also have the ability to think differently to each other?

That’s more likely to be current for the public than Gaza. In fact it probably has rare cross party support to proscribe.
Most British people will want Jewish people to feel safe. Don’t you want that?

The public don’t want to have the disruption of the protests, they don’t want terrorism in anyone’s name and those actions just put people off it all.

Given Hamas brutalised Israelis on October 7th and do the same to people in Gaza the protests should be to get rid of Hamas. As the braver people of Gaza tried.
As it is people wanting sympathy from the public on the protests here are unlikely to get it outside CITME board. People don’t want PA type actions, nor anything making Jewish people feel unsafe.

I think there’s protesting and there’s inciting violence and raising tension and, myself, I would say waving an Israeli flag in the middle of a Palestinian protest was the latter. These are not brave young men defending their cause. To my mind these are crass thugs taunting a miserable beleaguered people. Shame on them, and shame on those who encouraged or defend them.
