This is just unbelievable. These ‘protesters’ are being given free rein to threaten and assault pro-Israelis (Jewish) because ‘there’s 500 of them and 2 of you’.

Police not interested in doing their job, which is upholding the law I thought?

Just sickening that this country has come to this.

I’m an atheist.

And? What’s your point?
If you are atheist then do you not see issues with Hamas and Iran rule?
Do you not see that spouting death to Israel, West etc is a threat and that the fundamental problem is religion.

We (humans) had agreed on international laws after ww2. They should have always been applied universally, with no exceptions for “our allies”.

Indeed.

You saying it's not disgusting to actively wish harm on random strangers? Or only when Israelis do it?

I think some stuff is blanked. Threats from some are to be allowed.

TulipLavender · 25/06/2025 12:44

Israel are not a neighbouring country. They are a brutal occupying force who have implemented a brutal siege over the course of 20 years depriving the whole population of gaza from basic necessities, keeping them on basic rations, preventing their free movements outside of gaza, regularly arresting young children, shooting children playing football on the beach all long long before October 7th. Every year innocent gazans were killed by Israel. Israel would call it 'mowing the lawn' . You are saying that you would have no problem with you and your family living as Palestinian Refugees in Gaza under these conditions for perpetuity? And no hostility at all for the occupying soldiers at the Gazans border trying to take pot-shots at whoever they can whenever it strikes their fancy?

No gourmets in Gaza

The blockade of Gaza is approaching its third year. Is hunger a legitimate way of defeating an enemy?

Whose actions on behalf of Gaza? What about all the Jewish protestors who are protesting against Israel’s actions? Are they making themselves feel unsafe?

There’s a few threads / posts on here you could read from Jewish people who have felt unsafe plus coverage of someone simply trying to cross a protest who received abuse.

Do you think that no one who is Jewish feels unsafe due to protests and actions from pro Palestine actions?

It’s why the laws are needed. People will promote this stuff.

A good step towards authoritarianism. Well done “change labour”.

It’s terrifying isn’t it?

The actions taken on behalf of Gaza including the recent terrorism at the air base Brize Norton.

Also protesters making Jewish people feel unsafe here.

These bring negative connotations.

You might be separate to that but this thread is about flags and what people attribute to them. I disagree with a few posts below summing up the two flags below.

“Negative connotations” refer to starving babies, because baby formula is hamas, so is food, so mothers don’t have milk.

So, every baby is affected.

Who is wrong about what? I promise that I am not being deliberately obtuse but I genuinely cannot make head nor tail of your points. Who has taken what actions that have not helped which cause?

People on marches protest for all sorts of reasons. They do not always align. Protesters at the same march do not all belong to the same groups or think the same things. Not everybody is tribal. So when you keep banging on about “them” and “they” you need to be very specific about who you are talking about. Because I’m sure you would hate it if someone decided that every single English person thinks the same way about every subject, right? Why not open your mind a little to the idea that people outside of your limited frame of reference also have the ability to think differently to each other?

I think there’s many thinking that. It’s not often all parties would agree on something. Proscribing them terrorists.

A good step towards authoritarianism. Well done “change labour”.

Supposition? Hilarious given the plight of Gaza is directly related to which sky fairy you follow.

I’m an atheist.

EasternStandard · 25/06/2025 12:04

No to you. Do you follow the news? Did you see the recent proscription of PA as a terrorist organisation after attacking an air base.

That’s more likely to be current for the public than Gaza. In fact it probably has rare cross party support to proscribe.

Most British people will want Jewish people to feel safe. Don’t you want that?

Outside mn and the CITME board (I’m sure you know that you’re on it) I very much doubt the feelings are shared.

The public don’t want to have the disruption of the protests, they don’t want terrorism in anyone’s name and those actions just put people off it all.

I know you’ll be you don’t get it, that’s part of the problem here. Just a blank. It won’t get you the support though.

Of course there would be cross parties support for it - we have more friends of Israel in the parliament than friends of the UK.

There’s much on this thread on how people feel about flags.

They’re likely wrong. Those who take action haven’t helped their cause.

There’s a lot of supposition in your posts, why is that? And are you the designated spokesperson for the British public now? I didn’t realise that job had been advertised.

I'm not Jewish but have absolute solidarity with Israel for defending themselves against a death cult.

Same.

I think that, generally speaking, it is harder for those who are (loosely speaking as it’s not a black and white one or the other situation) ‘pro Israel’ to say so, as the ‘pro Palestine’ people are, in general, more aggressive and more convinced of their righteousness. They are less nuanced in their view of the situation and more likely to engage in us v them thinking.

In this respect it’s similar to the trans / gender critical situation. Many of us have kept out mouths firmly shut in the workplace and even socially, because the TRAs are more aggressive. But the TRAs don’t represent the majority of people’s views by any means. And it’s possible to respect trans rights but not want them to encroach on women’s rights but most ‘trans rights’ people use insults instead of engaging in sensible discussion. That’s my experience, anyway.

I’m not sure it’s fair to say the UK is ‘pro Palestine’ and interpret that to mean ‘anti Israel’. The extent of civilian death and suffering in Gaza in this war is completely deplorable and I would expect almost everyone in this country to agree. Also, most people want the people of Gaza to have their own state. Where people differ is on where the chief responsibility lies. I see a lot of nuance from Israel supporters - most don’t like Netanyahu, most deplore the West Bank settlers, etc. Many pro-Palestine people seem incapable of blaming anyone or anything but Israel and quickly become aggressive and frankly unreasonable and childish - comments about even birds not liking the flag of Israel? I mean, come on.

Agree with all of that - it’s great to see it expressed so succinctly.

RoseRR · 25/06/2025 12:15

Incorrect. Many countries recognise Palestine as a state with right to exist (Spain, Ireland, Norway most recently) which means they also recognise the Palestinian flag.

I heard the plane was so offended that a bit of paint was called terrorism when actual terrorism is going on right now.

Really? Do you live in the UK?
