This is just unbelievable. These ‘protesters’ are being given free rein to threaten and assault pro-Israelis (Jewish) because ‘there’s 500 of them and 2 of you’.

Police not interested in doing their job, which is upholding the law I thought?

Just sickening that this country has come to this.

No, I don’t want terrorism. We just have different perception of what it is.
I don’t care about a plane’s hurt feelings.

Interesting. What is your definition of terrorism in the UK?

So, only Jewish people’s feelings are a concern for you?

Not only no, but I don’t disregard them. Here in the U.K.

It wasn’t a statement it was a specific question which you swerved.

Here you’ve said more about Jewish people feeling unsafe but it’s not an issue for you.

OTH I don’t want that in our society, Jewish people should feel safe.

So, only Jewish people’s feelings are a concern for you?

TomeTome · 25/06/2025 13:30

I too want Palestinian children to BE safe.

The precedent isn’t new btw there’s plenty who are proscribed.

People don’t want terrorism and their supporters, no. So I guess you’re in the minority.

Do you know you’ve made me think there. And I would say yes, I probably do. But unlike a lot of posters on this thread I don’t think my feelings should override other people’s right to actions. But yes, I do leave the house, don’t worry.

I asked if you’d considered how some people felt. You sound committed enough to keep going.

It doesn’t mean others will see those actions the same way. And it won’t always bring support.

PhilomenaPunk · 25/06/2025 13:18

Madcatdudette · 25/06/2025 13:12

@PhilomenaPunk FFS you fear all men constantly?
Do you never leave the house then?

@TulipLavenderwell said. Feelings are not as important as actions.

You saying it's not disgusting to actively wish harm on random strangers? Or only when Israelis do it?

No I’m saying that taking offence seems to have become a get out clause in this debate.

Israel are not a neighbouring country. They are a brutal occupying force who have implemented a brutal siege over the course of 20 years depriving the whole population of gaza from basic necessities, keeping them on basic rations, preventing their free movements outside of gaza, regularly arresting young children, shooting children playing football on the beach all long long before October 7th. Every year innocent gazans were killed by Israel. Israel would call it 'mowing the lawn' . You are saying that you would have no problem with you and your family living as Palestinian Refugees in Gaza under these conditions for perpetuity? And no hostility at all for the occupying soldiers at the Gazans border trying to take pot-shots at whoever they can whenever it strikes their fancy?

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2009/jun/16/gaza-blockade-israel-food

Yet they managed to build an impressive network of tunnels and to fire rockets at Israel on a regular basis.

I was just demonstrating the absurdity of using sweeping statements when discussing these issues. Feelings will never be more important than actual violence as far as I’m concerned. Feeling unsafe should never override being unsafe. The children of Palestine can attest to that.

Interesting swerve there. So not a yes or no.

I didn’t mention illegality I asked if you recognised some Jewish people felt unsafe. Is it hard to consider their feelings?

I wish the U.K. would join in calling out Israel for war crimes. I find their war crimes more concerning than paint on some military planes. It’s not what keeps me awake at nights.
News reports from Gaza however does keep me awake.

“Do you think that no one who is Jewish feels unsafe due to protests and actions…?”

I as a woman feel constantly unsafe in the presence of men, can men be made illegal please?

There’s a few threads / posts on here you could read from Jewish people who have felt unsafe plus coverage of someone simply trying to cross a protest who received abuse.

Do you think that no one who is Jewish feels unsafe due to protests and actions from pro Palestine actions?

I think somebody getting abuse simply for being Jewish is completely wrong. Nobody should face harassment or hate for who they are or what they believe.

I’m not in London and I honestly don’t know what the mood is like during these marches. I think that there is an element within the pro Palestinian movement that wishes harm on Israel and is anti Semitic. And it is the responsibility of the pro Palestinian leaders to stamp this out, it’s important that movements such as these are firmly against all racism and are human rights centred. We cannot fight violence based on racism with racism.

However this is further complicated by the accusations of anti semitism being leveraged at everyone who criticises the Israeli government. So now we have a situation where some Jewish people feel that me calling for a ceasefire or calling for the flooding of Gaza with aid to prevent a famine is inadvertently calling for the destruction of Israel. Which seems like a massive leap to me but regardless it is how genuinely how some jewish people are feeling.

So now we have a very, very complicated situation where messages of peace are conflated with messages of hate and I’m not sure it is possible to create environments everyone will feel safe.

Well, that’s a nice precedent. Soon Reform will expand the list of terrorist organisations and state powers.

I don’t think so on this. And I’m not Labour’s biggest supporter. Usually the reverse.

We’re a democracy and have a legal system to prevent terrorism. I’m glad we have it. Especially since it puts an end to online support on SM.

And? What’s your point?
If you are atheist then do you not see issues with Hamas and Iran rule?
Do you not see that spouting death to Israel, West etc is a threat and that the fundamental problem is religion.

The level of cognitive dissonance you are currently performing is impressive. Have you considered a career in politics?
