Surely Iranian strike targets in Israel are simply acts of state terrorism now and the international community should highlight this. It seems like Iran is lashing out in the hope of instilling fear into the Israeli population to try and break the Israeli people. It won't work.

The irony is off the scale.

?? Do you have any factual knowledge of Palestinian or the nakba or just what you hear from Israel owned media

Do you have any other contribution to make apart from the nakba. It seems to get a mention on all your posts. The reason why I asked if you were taking the piss, is your assertion that Jews and Muslims lived happily, side by side, before 1948. It would also help your case, if you could correctly spell zionism; that's after you have learnt what it means.

Why do people keep bringing Gaza into a discussion about a conflict between two sovereign states? Can any attack by the Iranians be justified by but.....but.....Gaza.

You can decouple the two conflicts and actually have concern like Keir Starmer has about the proximity of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.
And any way October 7th was the start of this sorry mess.

Because it IS linked. This goes back to the 1800s so to say it began in October is naive and you clearly need to get a better education to be able to speak on the topic.
Netenyahu is on the verge of being ousted from government for his war crimes and his treatment of Israeli people also. Engaging in war against Iran allows him to declare wartime rule meaning no new elections and so he stays in power. The US own security advisor confirmed just a few months ago that Iran was not building nuclear bombs.

Iran is targeting military basis however, like any narcissist Israel does what it accuses others of doing meaning they build military bases near civilians. This means that unfortunately there are bombs that will have civilian casualties. Should any of them be the direct target obviously that's a war crime and so they should be held accountable but you cannot say on one had that targeting a hospital is a war crime if you do the same and THAT'S why people bring Gaza into the conversation.

@mids2019 you have been on these boards a while and seen the countless threads condemning the bombing of hospitals etc. Now you start a thread about an Israeli hospital being bombed and are shocked people are bringing it back to Gaza and using inflammatory statements like it began on October 7th. (Also extensively debated)

I would have given you a lot more credit than to do something like this.

Agree
and @Hoppinggreen, @LittleAlexHornesPocket , @ssd and @Mehmeh22 got it right straight off

I find the whole thing incredibly sad. Why can't everyone just get on with living rather than faffing about with bombs and land and money etc. Just all so pointless.

Don't forget, war can be very good for some businesses and that politicians are heavily influenced by commerce.

Because life is all about power and greed for some people unfortunately 🙁

Mostly because these types of missiles are hideously inaccurate.

Wow, you’re berating another poster for not sufficiently taking in the full context of history and you’re only going back to 1948? You need to go waaaay further back than that. Try centuries. Or millennia.

The half a story brigade.

October 7th ? Gosh you're one of them... have a look at The Nakba 1948 try and learn something

so basically because some not indigenous people came over and the locals took offence it’s been kicking off ever since? @Madcatdudette

That's not a bad start for a very simplified summary.

The country that we should be concerned about having nuclear weapons is America!

the only nation on earth to have ever used atomic bombs

the only nation on earth to have been at war most years since its inception

the nation where the president can drop bombs without cabinet’s approval

yet western nations love to dictate who can and can’t have nuclear weapons.

ridiculous

well if we give a fully functioning nuke to each of the countries in the middle east, i wonder who will use them first then people can go we told you so that x country was bad

I don't think she is. She's broadly correct in saying that Jews and Muslims had cohabited relatively peacefully (for centuries) in the middle east, though it had started to kick off 25 years before the 1948 that she stated

After WW1 it became clear that pretty soon the influx of Yiddish speaking Ashkenazi Jews that had happened over the previous 4 decades was going to become a problem. Until then they had almost been tolerated. They were not welcome by the Palestinian Muslims and even the indigenous Palestinian Jews were not keen on their arrival. Antipathy between Jew and Muslim in Palestine really dates back to after the fall of the Ottomans in 1918 not 1948.

I'm just so grateful that my grandparents decided to leave Makova and come to the UK rather than Palestine.

distilled summary of the main differences:

Sovereignty & Governance:

  • Israel: A recognized, democratically elected sovereign state with formal accountability and legal oversight.
  • Iran (and its proxies): Acts through affiliated groups with less transparency and formal governance structures.
Objectives & Justifications:
  • Israel: Claims its actions are defensive measures aimed at protecting its citizens from terrorism.
  • Iran (and its proxies): Often seen as pursuing broader ideological goals or regional influence that go beyond simple defense.
Tactics & Rules of Engagement:
  • Israel: States that it targets military infrastructure, even though the reality is fiercely debated regarding civilian impact.
  • Iran (and its proxies): Their operations are frequently portrayed as more indiscriminate, with actions that lead to higher civilian risks.
International Legitimacy:
  • Israel: Operates within a framework of international law and diplomacy, subject to global scrutiny as a recognized state.
  • Iran (and its proxies): Their methods are more frequently classified as acts of terrorism due to a lack of formal diplomatic accountability.
Edited

What principle of international law was Israel operating within when it bombed Iran, pray tell?

Maybe they made a little mistake as these happens during war or maybe they had intelligence that senior Israeli military officials were hiding out in hospitals using the patients as human shields😏

You maybe right ✅️

Can you really not see a connection?

World leaders say bombing hospitals isn't a war crime, they say that targeting schools, aid facilities, civillian infrastructure isn't a war crime. For almost 2 years they have been banging this drum. They see nothing wrong with a country investigating themselves and finding themselves innocent of all charges. We've all sat and watched Israel saying that an empty calander is evidence of Hamas, we've watched them make up weird cgi videos of non existent Hamas control centres and we've watched governments around the world saying that there is nothing wrong with that evidence.

If it isn't breaking international law to bomb a hospital in Gaza because you made up a cgi video of what you imagine a Hamas control centre inside would look like then Iran are just fine to blow up a hospital in Israel. Iran have shown as much evidence that the civilian infrastructure in Israel is actually a military target as Israel have in Gaza.

Either International law means something or it doesn't. It doesn't mean anything anymore, Israel and every government who turned their backs on atrocities have made sure of that. Lots of you have been positively revelling in that and actively mocking the people who have been protesting to keep those laws meaningful, this is the result you wanted, why are you still complaining?

Quite. You’ll be completely admonished for daring to mention anywhere but Gaza on the Middle East threads yet the same people will always bring Gaza into it.
