On USA vs Iran, America has lost every wargame played against Iran. They would need a ground force of over 1 million soldiers if they wanted to invade due to the terrain. Iran also has whole underground cities so an air campaign would have limited effect on Military assets.

It is just so complex and.... irrational!

Just a small correction, Trump was the one who unilaterally tore up/withdrew the USA from the JCPOA early in his first term. Partly due to lobbying from the Israel Lobby and also because of his irrational hatred of anything "Obama". Iran stuck to the terms of the agreement for a while bit until sanctions were levied by America.

Pakistan is another possible player with a lot to balance.
Pakistan does have nuclear weapons.

As I said, their potential allies have been cooling off for a while. If Russia really wanted Iran to have nuclear weapons, they'd just give them one.

That's besides the fact, that Russia is not in a good position to get involved in another war.

I do not think they will retaliate against US.
But, as they just did, carry on attacking Israel.
I do not see them surrendering either.
So they are stuck in this.

Agree with this. Iran does not have the capability to fight back against the US. Any potential allies they had have been backing off for a while now. They would be left a smouldering mass of rubble if they did choose to retaliate.

So, they were due a follow up meeting to their negotiations on the Sunday, with Trump. But Israel attacked on Friday.

It is really impossible for us to tell, because each of the parties has their version of events. But they were talking. That was happening.
Iran left one of the big nuclear deals during Trump first term and Trump was, in theory, working at getting them back and sign a new deal. Same as Hamas left negotiations during Trump's first time. Trump did back up the settlements and Jerusalem as capital.
These lot of men do not get along. And we all pay the price for it!

Google tells me that prophecies also talk about a lion in Israel. But the lion naming, whatever the fuck that means, could be related to one of these texts.

Anyway, I do not think this is of particular importance, bar that it may allow to predict the general lines the crazy loonies will move the conflict into.

It could help to explain why none of this lot seem to care, even a little bit, for human lives or international laws.

I think it's time for a realistic view of this.

Firstly the U.S. has an immensely powerful military and so the Iranians if they choose to attack U.S. interests will be hit with immense force and surely that would be a suicidal move for the Iranian regime. However the prospect of the fall of the Osmlamist Iranian regime would be welcomed globally not least by oppresssed Iranians.

There are no good moves for Iran but surrender on Israel/US terms which I do hope they do (not least for my petrol costs). We should welcome the fact Iran can now not produce nuclear weapons that in theory could reach London. We want a safe world.

I did have some hope that recent negotiations in Geneva with representatives from the UK, France, Germany and Iran might have achieved some progress but No.

I find it really hard to understand the mindset of some of these ME leaders. Why didn't they negotiate before too much damage was done?
