Israel is a country at war and I know many will have links or family in that country so I think it appropriate to wish them safety in the coming days.

I think we can safely say @hareclive has never come across a sephardi Jew, or an Indian or an Ethipian for that matter.

Edited

It would seem not...
Nor one from Ethiopia...

I dont think most people would interpret the replies you have had in that way. But your persistence in insisting Israelis are white explains a lot about how you approach this subject. I think the Middle East and Israel in particular is a bit too complex for your mindset.

Absolutely bang on the nose 👏 👏

@hareclive
You are woefully ignorant of Jewish history.

Around half of Israelis descend from people who immigrated from countries in the ME, many of them fleeing persecution (look up the Farhud) or pitched out with the clothes they stood up in and very little else.
C1945:
Iran: 100k Jews - now, 8k
Iraq: 135k Jews - now, a handful
And so on.

And from another post:
you only have empathy for white European/American Israelis. it's disgusting
About half of Israelis are of Middle Eastern origin and so are shades of brown.
(And FYI, my own family is racially mixed. One of my absolute favourite cousins was VERY brown.)

Oh I thought we would get round to that. Are all Jewish people white?

No sympathy for Israel? Yet you’ll defend a corrupt ineffective government that is Hamas?
A government that openly wants to exterminate Israel?

@hareclive as a point of information, I believe that some recent studies in the public domain would tend to argue away from your first paragraph, such as the one referred to in the link below, from 2022.

Israel attacked Iran first, killing dozens of civilians.

And Iran didn’t help fund the attacks on 7th October? Iran wants to obliterate Israel and was fast becoming a nuclear threat to Israel and its allies. By taking out these military targets, Israel has made the world a safer place for the UK other allies. It has every right to defend itself.

Do you not understand that the deaths of civilians during an armed conflict, who are bombed in their homes* when the aim of those dropping the bombs is to kill combatants or knock out artillery batteries is fundamentally different to kidnapping children from their homes, with their mother, and holding them in horrific conditions until you kill them in cold blood?

It's like accusing a policeman of murder if, when struggling to restrain an armed criminal, he falls onto a pushchair and kills a small baby.

If you can't see the difference, you have no business whatsoever to be lecturing anyone else about empathy. I'm not Israeli. I'm not even Jewish. I can see the difference.

The whole rigmarole of the return of the bodies of Kfir, Ariel and Shiri Bibas to Israel was completely nauseating. There was no respect for them whatsoever.

So, once again, RIP Ariel and Kfir Bibas. And their mother.

*Because their government would rather spend money on digging tunnels than on providing air raid protection - killing Jews Israelis matters more to them than protecting their own people.

Two years on and it's groundhog day. Still the same narrative, that's been sacked up and run with. These terrorists have done a great job with their brainwashing. I'm sure some of the posters' history books have pages missing before 1948.

It's weird how you went from having no particular view on Israelis to spouting the kind of lies that only come from antisemitic propaganda.

I don't support what Israel has done in Gaza either but you need to be a lot more discerning about where your 'information' comes from.

Kakeandkake · 15/06/2025 16:18

The biggest lie in this mess was when the founder of zionism called it a land for a people, for a people without a land. That land already had Palestinians living there. It was not for the British to carve up and give away due to the sins of Germany.

Growlybear83 · 15/06/2025 16:17

Israel has once again breached international law in striking Iran. I wish all the innocent Iranians safety in this latest war, as I do all the other innocent people, of all nationalities, who are losing their lives as a result of Israel’s actions.

Kakeandkake · 15/06/2025 16:15

The Jewish minority that were already living there were PALESTINIAN Jews. They lived in harmony with other Palestinians. This whole conflict started when the land was forcibly taken off the Palestinians when it was wasn't Palestinians in Europe who carried out the evil holocaust. Yet they were forced to give up their land and homes never to return again.

Kakeandkake · 15/06/2025 16:13

Many Palestinians invited Jewish refugees in their homes after the holocaust. Some of these same refugees later took over the homes of Palestinians and kicked them out when the state of Israel was created.

The Palestinians have been oppressed and persecuted by the Israelis for years and years which is conveniently overlooked by those rushing to defend Israel over every injustice they carry out.

hareclive · 15/06/2025 16:03

this kinda sums it up. you are complaining about undertones. Israel is slaughtering thousands and thousands of Palestinian children and leaving thousands more without limbs and family. my bottom line is if my own countrys continued existence depended on THAT, I wouldn't even support my own country. I have no sympathy for anyone who DOES think that is an acceptable price to pay

Such exaggerated language. It's always women and children being 'slaughtered' isn't it. Where are all the men?

SharonEllis · 15/06/2025 16:08

EllaDisenchanted · 15/06/2025 15:59

most of the Jews that went to Palestine after WW2 don't have a drop of ME blood, they were European converts this is nonsense. Where are you getting this from?

there are millions of non Zionist Jews who opposed Israel far more strongly than I do. as above . There are only 15.8 million Jews in the world of whom nearly half live in Israel (I would assume minimally Zionists at the least). Of the 8 million or so outside of Israel, how many of those are kids?? And actually polls regularly suggest the vast majority of Jews are Zionists

We cross posted! I too am interested in @hareclive sources.

Madcatdudette · 15/06/2025 16:08

Nowayyousure · 15/06/2025 15:27

So it's only relevant who stole it when it's stolen from people who now refer to themselves as Palestinian. There were other people on these lands too. It's not relevant if stolen from people before? Why?

Many countries have stolen land over the centuries during wars etc if you go back enough should all lands be reassigned.

The point is no one stole anyone’s land in 1948.

Madcatdudette · 15/06/2025 16:07

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 15/06/2025 15:25

Oh do fuck off @Madcatdudette - your nonsense is absolutely not representative of ‘the majority’ of British people at all. If nothing else, some of us realise that the world is bigger than our own little bubble and actually understand history. ‘A quarrel in a far away country between people of whom we know nothing’ indeed!

Really? Tell me why you think this? Why do you feel it necessary to take sides in a war we have nothing to do with?

HerNeighbourTotoro · 15/06/2025 15:55

The 'fact' that ir was partitioned among those who lived there is one of the biggest lies I was taught in history lessons. read about the forceful and brutal misplacement of Palestinian people to make room for Jewish people who came from all over the world and who had not previouslt lived anywhere near the territory. Reading up on it was so wide opening- and what followed suit.

Maybe you can recommend your source of knowledge.
