Conflict in the Middle East

This is a religious war not a land war.

Why were Palestinians chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ when committing the atrocities of Oct 7th and celebrating it afterwards, when the dead bodies of victims were paraded in the streets, if this is not a religious war?

Why is this being ignored and pro-Palestinians insist it’s only about land?

I think you should stick to facts.

The fact is we are witnessing genocides, war crimes, crimes against humanity etc.
The composition of IDF executing it is neither here nor there.

I think you should read The Other Side Of Israel by Susan Nathan. Amazing story of a British Jewish lady who emigrated to Israel and then refused to be taught hate - she went and met and lived with Palestinians and talks about their life experiences.

I don’t think some posters here know that about 20% of the Israeli population are Muslims, and serve in the IDF. About 5% are Christian. If they wanted to carry out “ethnic cleansing”, probably easier to start with those people. But that’s not what’s happening.

It is a religious war but, sadly, that applies to both sides now.

You only need to hear what Smotrich and Ben G’vir say to know that they believe a greater Israel was promised to the Jews by G_D. The references to Judea and Samaria are another hint that, from their perspective, this is their religious destiny.

Which isn’t to excuse the Hamas barbarians anything; they deserve to be slaughtered after 07/10.

But what is sadly lost in this is the moderate Israelis and Palestinians who could happily live and work together.

Hamas are Palestinians and they sure could have stopped this latest war from happening by (a) not deliberately and knowingly starting this war and ( b) stopping it by laying down arms and handing back the hostages.

You are right OP. Hamas are Islamists and to them this is a religious war. Its why they don't give one shiny shit about all the Gazans being killed as a result of the war they started, (in fact they have publicly said they need the deaths of their own civilians), and its why they brutalise their own people.

Hamas are a religious dictatorship. Westerners who think they are freedom fighters are utterly ignorant, and quite colonialist in their own Western ideas they are imposing onto Hamas.

Hamas are awful. They do despicable cruel things and bear a huge amount of responsibility for this war yes. But they are the product of suffering and what happens when you suppress a population. You back people into a corner - or in this case a small strip of land - they will come out swinging. And they have. It’s not right but it is what happens.
There is a huge amount of fault on BOTH sides. You can argue who is right and wrong till the end of time. All that will happen is more death and suffering and pain.
OR
You choose to move forward. Choose better choices than the previous generation. Choose tolerance and peace. Learn to live alongside one another. Recognise both populations as valid and with rights. Recognise and embrace both religions.
The past cannot be changed but the futures of both Palestinian and Israeli children are at stake

Your suggestion (a) involves time travel. And (b) ignores everything Israeli government has been saying for the past 18+ months

TakeMe2Insanity · 30/05/2025 17:51

What about the Palestinian Christians? Whole blood lines have been removed by the Israelis, churches bombed. This isn’t just about the Israeli’s protecting themselves from muslims. This is about Israel wanting as much land as they can grab regardless of who it belongs to.

It doesn't look like any Palestinian can do anything to stop this. The 2 parties that can stop this are the US and Israel.

Balfour had no business carving up land and giving it to one set of people however an inconvenient truth it is for people that there were people living in Palestine.

Israel was created by ethnically cleansing the indigenous population. It suited the wests geopolitical interests. And it supported Zionist ambitions.

Doesn't matter what their origins are, you don't go to your neighbours and say you can't live here anymore.

Zionists even collaborated with the Nazis. - Theodore Herzl stated that the anti semites were allies in achieving his goals.

Ben Gurion's response to the possibility of thousands of Jewish children being admitted into Britain after Kristallnacht was:

"If I knew it would be possible to save all the children in Germany by bringing them over to England, and only half of them by transporting them to Eretz Yisrael, then I would opt for the second alternative. For we must weigh not only the life of those children, but also the history of the people of Israel."

Zionists purchased land in Palestine and put in place policies such as Histadrut - Jewish labour only. Those who employed local labourers were picketed, and often violently, to drive them out.

Their Haganah militants also played a part.

Absolutely Jews must live in peace and safety, it doesn't mean Zionists can ethnically cleanse to achieve that.

Source: The Blood Never Dried - a people's history of the British empire by John Newsinger.

Other examples, Article 7 of the Mandate provided for a nationality law to facilitate the acquisition of Palestinian citizenship by Jewish immigrants, irrespective of origin. This same law denied nationality to Palestinians who were abroad when the British took over.

More sources and also worth reading - mostly by Jewish authors:
Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe.
100 years of war on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi.
Genocide Bad by Sim Kern
Memoirs of an Arab Jew by Avi Shlaim

Why did Israel's foreign minister say today that they will build a 'Jewish Israeli state' in the occupied west bank, it's not about land?

Is this not about land?

Why does Netanyahu make constant biblical references when justifying and naming IDF operations like striking the Amalek and 'Gideon' chariot' etc.

Is this not religious motivation?

They are fucking adults they can get along if they choose to. Ultimately the only way this stops is when BOTH sides decide that their children’s lives are more important, their grandchildren’s lives are more important than mutual hatred for one another.

Complete BS that Islam and Judaism don't get along. They did in Spain and did in the indigenous Palestinian communities and I've seen it amongst people I know.

Recollections vary.

IMO it is a religious war since no one appears to mind that a Muslim country - Jordan - actually were settlers to the land. That doesn't matter though because - you know - they aren't Jewish.

"It is an article of faith on the far-left that Israel is an imperialist implant and that Palestinians, not Jews, are the indigenous people. They love the phrase “settler-colonialism.” The accusations do apply—to Jordan. The Palestinians were not indigenous to what is now Jordan but had a presence in the area for perhaps a thousand years after their ancestors left Arabia. The Hashemites had no connection to the land until the Arab revolt, and then Abdullah was imposed on the residents by imperial Britain."

Jewish people have thousands of years linking them to Judea. However, Islam and Judaism don't get along - so a religious war but cloaked in pretence that it's about the land and some Westerners always have to feel bad about the past, even though they didn't cause it so it's a great bandwagon to jump on and makes some feel good about themselves. (Forget the latest conflict with thousands dead - this was before that and gave some Westerners the self loathing for the West they needed).

What land has been stolen and from whom?

The Palestinians have never had a sovereign state, nor did the Arabs in the region, and have said NO to all opportunities to create one.

Hamas leaders have stated they will never stop until all the land is Muslim land.

So who’s going to stop it?

Edited

Israel is continuously building on more and more of the West Bank as you damn well know. The settlers should be moved (and compensated where necessary) back into Israel.
security between Israel and both the West Bank and Gaza need to be improved and managed by someone other than Israel.
I have already stated Hamas need to be removed. But the NOT at the cost of so many innocent lives. Palestinian lives matter too. All lives matter. It all just needs to stop.

That's a bit ahistorical. The UN (winners of ww2) arbitrarily split the land into 2 states - for people who lived there and for the jews they sent out of Europe. They didn't split it evenly and didn't agree what would happen to people who lived on a land now given to other people. What's even worse - the US immediately recognised one country, and has blocked the recognition of the other state in the UNSC for the past 77 years. The conflict is primarily about the land. Religion may aggravate it, but there is no, no excuse whatsoever for the genocide and ethnic cleansing, and war crimes. Israel should stop. It cannot stop now, so if it had any friends - the friends should stop it.

Not a religious war just because someone shouted Allahu Akbar.

Its decades of oppression, displacement land grab and persecution.
