Many of you will already have read about this. Paediatric specialist Dr Alaa al-Najjar was on duty when the bodies of nine of her 10 children were received by her in the hospital, after a strike in Khan Younis hit her home.

This report just stopped me in my tracks. I don't know what to say beyond this. I cannot stop thinking about this poor woman tonight.

er children killed by a strike in Khan Younis. Guardian link

For the hard of understanding: no one said that the dead children were ALL child soldiers.

They weren’t misinterpreting they were making something up and pretending another poster said something they didn’t say.

You give your head a wobble if you think coming at me in any way deflects from the fact @RandomWordsThrownTogether was not being honest about what another poster said.

They weren’t misinterpreting they were making something up
They weren't we can all read, it has been claimed on this thread that children are trained as soldiers, are sent out to their deaths by their parents as pawns and are indoctrinated in terrorist training camps but yeah @RandomWordsThrownTogether is making things up

There has been disgusting offensive stuff posted on this thread about dead children and their grieving parents. A thread that was started to highlight the death of 9 siblings. Shameful

Twiglets1 · 30/05/2025 22:37

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 30/05/2025 22:30

No I think the poster making these kind of dehumanising offensive claims is weakening the argument
It is heartbreaking but that’s probably because Ukrainians don’t use children as pawns for their cause, for human shields and as child soldiers after they have been indoctrinated in terrorist training camps.

Interesting you glossed over these dehumanising offensive statements but felt the need to correct a poster on their misinterpretation of other dehumanising offensive statements. Seriously give your head a wobble.

No one said the dead children were all child soldiers.

That’s obvious to anyone reading this thread and you weaken your argument by having to make up lies.

Interesting on the day certain posters start on with this nonsense that the dead children were all child soldiers that I looked at some of the main UK newspapers on social media and the same lines about child soldiers are suddenly appearing today. Almost like there is a hasbara app giving people talking points on how to defend the IDF. Your arguments are insulting to the brutally murdered children. Let us stop diverting the conversation that- this conflict has seen more children death that any recent conflict. Children playing, watering plants, waiting for food, sleeping in their beds - murdered!

Absolutely I was listening to the Israeli Ambassador with Piers Morgan and it was like a Mumsnet post come to life.

YourOnMute · 30/05/2025 21:45

You're right though, what you said was:

"The despicable use of child soldiers by Hamas means that they will also be included in the massively inflated casualty figures which are totally unverified by any unbiased source btw".

But Israel know who the child soldiers are because that's why they are shot.

YourOnMute · 30/05/2025 21:37

Yet you couldn't find any relating to children being shot.

And why shouldn't Gazans go to Israel? Obviously it's near, easy to get to. As Israel doesn't target civilians and knows who Hamas is, seems like it's ideally placed to provide refuge to innocent Gazans: it know who they are already. And it would remove the human shields argument. And it would help with Israel's new sid agency.
Perhaps Israel could help the Gazans move to the new settlements they've created after removing Palestinians who were there? After all there must be plenty of space. You know, the ones that were announced yesterday. By the prime minister.

I did not say the dead children were all child soldiers.

Why do you feel the need to resort to falsehoods?

I am not on any Hasbara apps. Where are they, I’ll give them a look and make up my own mind but I have no interest in defending the IDF, I am I only interested in the truth and this war has only caught my attention because of the blatant propaganda surrounding it, and lack of accountability for the people who started it and continue to perpetrate it, while their own people continue to suffer.

Do you know what Hasbara actually means?

I just came across this video and from my own research it sums up this conflict very succinctly. I believe the lady is Iranian. It is horrific that this has been allowed to go on so long. Generations of Palestinian children could have lived in peace - it is truly one of the worst crimes against a people (the Palestinians) since the Holocaust although that is the only similarity IMO.

Crazy that people who can do a bit of simple research, have the ability to look at such a serious issue from a neutral perspective based on facts and don’t get sucked in by illogical propaganda are called ‘bots’ and accused of getting talking points from apps but there you go.

@AIBUHere
Factually nothing he said was verifiable evidence that children had been deliberately targeted by the IDF in his testimony.

It really sounds like you're putting the bar for evidence at an impossible height. Imagine if someone said this about the rapes on October 7th. I assume you don't deny victim testimony there?

So let's apply that thinking here.

Mamode's words: "Well, the drones would come down and pick off civilians, children. And we had description after description. This is not, you know, an occasional thing. This was day after day after day."

"The bullets that the drones fire are these small, cuboid pellets. I fished a number of those out of the abdomen of small children. I think the youngest I operated on was a 3 year old."

"This was day after day after day, operating on children who would say, I was lying on the ground after a bomb had dropped, and this quadcopter came down and hovered over me and shot me. And that's clearly a deliberate act, and it was a persistent act, persistent targeting of civilians."

Are you, in good conscience, denying this? You're actually reading this and thinking of plausible alternative explanations? Or you just think he's lying?

Can the Gazan children not move into Israel for safety? Genuine question..can Israel not let in genuine refugees?

Why can’t they go into Egypt?

Why would you suggest they move into Israel after allegations of genocide and deliberate starvation and the targeted killing of children by Israel?

Surely they are safer in a neutral country?

Egypt is not at war with Hamas or Israel. It’s not like they don’t have space.

Egypt’s border is 12 km away. Their argument is that displaced Palestinians may not be allowed back into Gaza. Doesn’t make sense if there is evidence of ethnic cleansing and an ongoing genocide of Palestinians and Israel’s goal is to wipe them out.

Why hasn’t this been part of a ceasefire deal that Israel must let them back, which I absolutely agree with, but without Hamas and with an international peacekeeping interim government until they can elect and set up their own administration.

Has this been on the table?

I found the testimony of Nizam Mamode to be extremely compelling. Didn't you?

It was compelling and extremely upsetting but factually nothing he said was verifiable evidence that children had been deliberately targeted by the IDF in his testimony.

Also he stated he never saw any evidence of terrorist activity in the Nasser Hospital but they were obviously there despite that.

Also the majority of Ukrainian children in the war zone were able to flee the war to safety in other countries.

Why not Gazan children?

because Ukrainians don’t use children as pawns for their cause

Wow more dehumanizing language. Sure why are they mourning their dead children they are only pawns not real children. And anyway it's their parents fault they are dead.

Heart breaking article about some of the children killed in the last week. They pointed out that 20x more children have been killed in Gaza than the Ukraine - it is the worst in the world for child fatalities!

Wow this is a change of tact - so all the 20k kid dead and the child amputees are child soldiers- all the two year olds are in Hamas! I find it hard enough to get my toddler to brush her teeth or wear clothes. Honestly this is a new low!

I absolutely did not say that but it may well account for some of the child fatalities and injuries (especially in older age groups up to 19) or are the IDF soldiers supposed to let them kill them first?

There’s no denying that tragically and horrifically many other children have been killed and injured due to their elders supporting and deliberately starting a war without providing any places of safety and in fact actively using them as human shields. Also no surrounding countries, such as Egypt, allowing women and child safe refuge which is the norm in any other war, no?

Where is the outrage for that?

I mean, are you denying the Palestinians deliberately started this war?

Are you also not outraged that child soldiers are being used as sacrifices for a cause they have been indoctrinated into, can’t fully understand the consequences of (they just die horribly as martyrs and don’t actually go to paradise) and presumably have been encouraged by their elders to participate in?

Or do you deny that this happens despite evidence to the contrary?

Mosab Hassan Yousef, who was a Palestinian child and grew up in the WEST BANK where Hamas has less of a presence than in Gaza, has spoken out on many occasions at risk to his life about the abuse and indoctrination of children in Palestinian society and there are enough videos easily found online of kids ‘terrorist camps’ in Gaza to validate that.

I find it absolutely baffling that people who haven’t even stepped foot in the region and have never experienced the reality that he has from both sides, are in such sinister denial, that they can dismiss his lived experiences.

Do you think this is legitimate ‘resistance’?

Interested to know why you seem to be ignoring it and have no comment on it as usual but seem to jump in to try to put words in my mouth which aren’t there.

If it’s ‘there’ please direct me to it if you’re not prepared to post links.

Otherwise I can only assume you are being disingenuous.

The warrant from the ICC is not evidence of anything and was obviously politically motivated.

It’s pretty much the same evidence wise as your non existent videos showing the IDF sniping kids.

I found the testimony of Nizam Mamode to be extremely compelling. Didn't you?

Martymcfly24 · 30/05/2025 18:34

Harrowing stories @YourOnMute .

After seeing those the findings of the survey from War Child Alliance makes sense as it shows

  • 96% of children feel death is imminent
  • 92% of children are not accepting of reality,
  • 87% display severe fear,
  • 79% suffer from nightmares,
  • 77% of children avoid talking about traumatic events,
  • 73% of children exhibit symptoms of aggression,
  • 49% of children wish to die because of the war,
  • and many more show signs of withdrawal and severe anxiety, alongside a pervasive sense of hopelessness.
This was in December 2024 and as we know the situation is drastically worse since then.

Although I suffer from terrorist induced propaganda hysteria apparently, I'm not a Hamas member or supporter so I'm not privy to that. Maybe one of the child soldiers could be asked before they are shot?
Or - you could ask the members of the EU diplomatic delegation who were recently shot at, because clearly if they're shot at, they must be Hamas/shielding Hamas.

Exactly what I mean.
I explained why I couldn't post links but I gave examples. Yesterday an American medic spoke to UN - this video is widely available. Also the Jon Snow interview.
I don't think this is a war. One side is wholly and vastly superior in all ways. That's not a war to me.
Yes, 55,000 people PEOPLE dead. PEOPLE.
What's your rationale for these figures being vastly inflated?
The highest number of child amputees in the world. The highest number of dead children.
Child soldiers?? That's a new one, haven't heard that on these threads before. If they are soldiers I suppose it's ok to kill them. Especially the ones under 12. 14? 16? 18?
Any wonder I have terrorist propaganda induced hysteria 😂😂😂 along with the VAST majority of the world's population.

One side is wholly and vastly superior in all ways.

Why did the weaker side initiate a horrendous terror attack on October 7th then? What did they think would happen?

Just one example of a Palestinian mother who encouraged her children into terrorism

"Umm Nidal was a Palestinian militant who supported several of her sons in their armed attacks against Israel. She has been described by ABC News as having sent three of her sons on "suicide missions" and as a "mother of suicide bombers". According to Al Jazeera, one of her sons, who was 17 years old, was shot dead while conducting a shooting attack on an Israeli settlement with her approval, another was killed while preparing an attack and a third one was killed while transporting rockets. She said "I love my children, but as Muslims we pressure ourselves and sacrifice our emotions for the interest of the homeland. The greater interest takes precedence to the personal interest". She was later elected to the Palestinian legislature in 2006 on the Hamas-led Change and Reform electoral list
