Many of you will already have read about this. Paediatric specialist Dr Alaa al-Najjar was on duty when the bodies of nine of her 10 children were received by her in the hospital, after a strike in Khan Younis hit her home.

This report just stopped me in my tracks. I don't know what to say beyond this. I cannot stop thinking about this poor woman tonight.

er children killed by a strike in Khan Younis. Guardian link

People dying doesn't make it genocide

The PP didn’t say that.

She said this specific situation was genocide.

Don’t be obtuse

No call for Hamas to disarm and surrender though?

The immediate release of the remaining 58 hostages?

Surrounding Arab countries to take in child refugees?

Why do you think that is?

Because they killed 9 children under the age of 12 in his family so he might have slight bias against those that did it.
Think he's probably just human.

Why do you think it is?

Dr Ali, the Irish Palestinian uncle of the little kids burned alive on Friday has called for sanctions to be imposed on Israel similar to those imposed on the apartheid regime in South Africa. Not in revenge, but pressure them to end the war. The current offer allows Israel to resume bombing in 60 days, having got the hostages released, so the Witkoff deal isn’t really offering much to prevent these brutal large scale civilian deaths and injuries going on indefinitely until the population of Gaza is exterminated . There’s also the recent approval of more settlements on the West Bank and the unchecked settler violence, the encroaching security buffer zones on so many of Israel’s borders are which points towards a policy expulsion in relation to the Palestinians. Jeffrey Saks has observed that there are 3 potential outcomes to this war- expulsion, extermination or coexistence. The latter two outcomes are genocidal and so governments need to place real immediate sanctions on Israel.
International governments need to impose economic sanctions and embargos or be complicit in genocide.

Abu Abdullah Basel Dardouna:

> The Kharijites of Hamas committed a massacre against people who went to receive aid.. more than forty martyrs were struck by Hamas with mortars to thwart the distribution of aid.

Second Image:

Nabhan Abu Hmeed:

> Hamas spread a rumor that aid would be distributed in Rafah, and when people gathered in front of the aid center, it fired mortar shells, which made the occupation army appear to be the one committing a massacre against our people.
>
> More than 40 martyrs and many injured—Hamas did this to sabotage the aid distribution plan.

Pen International have issued a call for an arms embargo. They have highlighted the impact on writers, artists, culture and heritage - Unesco report over 110 cultural and heritage sites have been destroyed by the IDF including religious sites, historic buildings, monuments, museums, and archaeological sites.

“PEN International concurs with the UN, legal experts, sister human rights organisations, and genocide scholars that genocide is being perpetrated against Palestinians in Gaza through various means, including widespread indiscriminate killings, and the weaponisation of aid such as food and medicine.

The ongoing genocide in Gaza has marked the deadliest period for writers since World War II. Israel’s unrelenting bombardment of Gaza is resulting in widespread death, the systematic destruction of its vital infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, libraries, bookstores, water and electricity networks, and communications systems, and the forced displacement of its population, including writers, academics, artists, and cultural workers.

Over the past 18 months, at least 23 Palestinian writers (excluding artists and cultural workers) have been killed by Israeli bombardment. In the same period, Israel has also been responsible for the deaths of at least 173 Palestinian journalists and media workers. The sustained attack on Palestinian culture, including heritage sites, writers, and journalists, is a deliberate strategy to silence and erase the Palestinian people.

Testimonies from writers also described the challenges they face amid the persistent threat to their lives. The relentless Israeli military operations, the indiscriminate bombardment of so-called “safe zones” with high explosives, unexploded ordnance, sniper attacks targeting civilians, and the ongoing arbitrary restrictions and ban on humanitarian aid – are a grim, daily reality. All writers who spoke to PEN International have consistently stressed that: “there is no place safe in Gaza.””

Amnesty International concludes Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza

Amnesty International’s research has found sufficient basis to conclude that Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip.

Have we moved onto antisemitism now - I thought we were talking about the 50,000 kids murdered and maimed by the IDF, of the doctors’ home targeted by the IDF killing 9 children and a doctor? I though we were talking about the 30+ people murdered and 200+ injured at the IDF Aid Distribution massacre? Let us think about the victims, of the people mourning their loved ones, of those left brain damaged on ventilators, of the people who were hungry and sought food but instead got life altering injuries.

A bunch of posts saying that essentially they only want the press to report what they agree with (yes, you, @ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend) and accusing @AIBUHere of acting in bad faith rather than genuine concern when raising antisemitism.

Shows the true colours of the pro Palestine movement.

What it knows as reported by a proscribed terrorist organisation who committed the level of atrocities they did on Oct 7th while invoking God and are still holding hostages almost two years later. Who also have publicly stated that they want as many of their people to die as ‘martyrs’ as possible.

How the absolute fuck has this world become so twisted that people will believe these vile monsters over a democratic government of a country that largely contributes something to the world?

Would you believe Israel if it was not a Jewish state?

I'd believe Israel if they weren't provan liars.

Nothing to do with it being Jewish or not. People are getting sick of that accusation. Change the record.

The Guardian’s reporting is misleading because it leaves out the most important part of the IDF’s response: their explicit statement that the warning shots were completely unrelated to the alleged incident at the aid site. By quoting the warning shots and omitting the IDF’s clear denial of any connection between the events, the article encourages readers to assume guilt (I.e. maybe the IDF did fire at that time and place but claims to not have hit civilians) without presenting the full context.

The use of the word “however” is also misleading. It implies there’s a contradiction or admission by the IDF, when in fact the official was clear that the warning shots were unrelated to the incident in question. This choice of wording, combined with omitting the full denial, creates a false impression.

This distraction from the discussion about the people brutally murdered and maimed by the IDF by attacking the integrity of the newspapers and journalists is an interesting turn of events. The other day we were all left debating child soldiers, today it’s attacking highly respected journalists - what will move the conversation away from the 50,000 dead and injured children tomorrow.

The BBC newsreel that was referenced last night (and that I shared a link to) showed multiple videos from the ground - multiple dead bodies, hospitals over whelmed with the injured, so much grief, pain and suffering. I am not sure if those of you in Israel and the US can access the BBC iplayer so I have typed up a few extracts from the newsreel.

It opens with a body being taken through a crowd, people doubled over with grief particularly two elderly women who are prevented from going with the body. The news reporter voiceover says

“They left their tents last night because their stomachs were empty. How much more painful to nurse an empty heart.

By dawn Gaza’s Nasa hospital was inundated with casualties - hungry people shot near Rafa as they waited for an Israeli backed distribution centre to open”

It then cuts to a crowd of mostly underweight people who look absolutely detroyed with grief. A thin elderly man sitting on the ground sounds broken as he says:

“Let the whole world see what the Israelis and America are doing to us. They are lying. They say they give us aid and they kill us. They were shelling us and shooting at us.”

The reporter says ”Doctors described a tsunami of casualties this morning. Many with gun shot and shrapnel wounds”.

A Doctor is interviewed and says “These are all civilian casualties that were asked to go to an aid centre to collect food and ended up presenting with gunshot wounds, shrapnel wounds … most of them are critical. Some of them arrived dead on arrival because of severe, targeted gunshot wounds to the head and the thorax.”

It ends with “Israel’s critics say Israel is using hunger as a weapon of war but even by those with weapons themselves Gaza’s hungry are being treated as a threat.”

It is from 13:43, it will expire at 10.20pm tonight!

They choose not to report anything the IDF say as fact because they lie and lie and lie again. Not sure why they expect to be believed. Maybe they are telling the truth and their account is accurate but it's the boy that cried wolf, we have been misled one too many times. I don't blame news reporters for not documenting what they say as fact

It's the fact they reported the incident as fact that the IDF did the shooting without waiting to see what the IDF had to say about it.

There's nothing reported as fact in the article linked so maybe wrong link was attached.

I’m talking about the Guardian generally as well as this article.

Only later did the say that the IDF have denied shooting anyone after they had the chance to investigate the incident.

The Guardian do this time and time again. They were repeating the fake story about the 14,000 babies dying in Gaza in the next 48 hours long after other media sources were starting to print that this had been proved wrong. So they knew it was wrong but were still saying it? That level of anti Israel bias is unacceptable to me in a news organisation.

How did they misreport?

From the guardian:
The Israeli forces denied “firing at civilians”. However, an Israel Defense Forces official admitted that Israeli soldiers fired “warning shots toward several suspects who advanced toward the troops on Saturday”, near the aid distribution site, without specifying who the suspects were.

From the Israeli restaurant official:
An Israeli military official acknowledged that troops did fire warning shots overnight around a kilometer away from the aid site, hours before the facility opened to distribute aid to Palestinians.

Everything else the official says is conjecture there is no evidence to back anything up.

Israel would be more believable if they weren’t caught in lie after lie. If they didn’t execute medics and bury their vehicles to hide the evidence. If they didn’t bomb hospitals, maternity wards, IVF clinics, if they didn’t seize most of the farmland in Gaza and then close all corridors to aid leaving people to starve. If they didn’t kill or injure more than 50,000 kids with bombs and bullets.

Israel puts out so many versions of the truth in a day - the video they are sharing of “Hamas attacking” has been shown to be from a different location and some criminal family. Yesterday they shared three different narratives about what happened but there are dead bodies and over 200 wounded - the wounded are all saying it was the IDF, the Doctors are saying it was the IDF - that many people would not collectively lie about who shot them and killed their families. When they executed the medics they had so many versions of the truth which were all blown to shreds when it turned out there is video evidence.

As an example of bias in the press.

Has the following:

The Israeli forces denied “firing at civilians”. However, an Israel Defense Forces official admitted that Israeli soldiers fired “warning shots toward several suspects who advanced toward the troops on Saturday”, near the aid distribution site, without specifying who the suspects were.

Wheras the military official referenced actually said then following:

An Israeli military official acknowledged that troops did fire warning shots overnight around a kilometer away from the aid site, hours before the facility opened to distribute aid to Palestinians.

“IDF troops worked to prevent a number of suspects from approaching the forces,” the official said. “During the activity, warning shots were fired at a number of suspects who approached the forces.”

“There is no connection between the incident in question and the false allegations against the IDF,” added the official.

The Guardian is knowingly providing only a partial and misleading description of the IDF's response which casts Israel in the worse possible light.

Yup I was paying a donation for Guardian news but I've cancelled it now. I honestly never realised before this conflict how biased their reporting can be. I've been naïve about that, I guess.

I don't mind UK papers having a certain bias as long as they don't completely distort the truth. But The Guardian are about the worst offender amongst quality papers of allowing their bias to affect their reporting of important world events.

BBC news tonight shows drone footage of armed men but not idf soldiers shooting people waiting for food distribution.

They also show people with food condemning hamas, shouting about hamas as they leave with food parcels.

A hospital doctor says patients brought in with gunshot wounds. Many men laying on floor waiting for treatment.

It's clear people are broken and need food.

Edited

Actually the BBC said the footage shared by Israel was filmed from a different location and said it showed “armed men” - they also made it clear the allegations were made by the IDF and that Israel does not allow the BBC into Gaza. They went on to say that they do have independent sources in the ground and shared footage of people shot, people saying that they are starving and lured in with food and then shot by the IDF, interviews with doctors. The broadcast does not show the IDF in a good light, it shows pain, suffering and countless people saying it was the IDF.
