Eurovision - was the jury vote impacted by politics?

So Israel massively won the public vote but with relatively few jury votes.....strange.

Was the jury possibly trying to prevent Israel beating Austria as an Israel won would maybe have got the Eurovsion organisers in a tight spot?

Brilliant song and it shows the general public aren't automatons swayed by politics when it comes to music and acknowledging a brilliant human back story.

Actually the public vote wasn’t balanced. There were multiple advertisements (in local languages) urging people to vote israel, and unfortunately there is no down vote in Eurovision. Those who are pro Israel are likely to vote multiple times for Israel, whereas those who are against are more likely to boycott or have their vote split across other countries. Irrespective of politics (and the fact Israel is in the middle of committing a genocide) the Israeli song was mid at best.

I kept politics out of my vote and voted for the one with the best song in my opinion which was Sweden.

Awful for the Israel singer that she had to put up with a couple of pro-Palestinian supporters attempting to get to her on stage during her final performance. Especially considering she was a survivor from the October 7th attacks.

One threw paint which hit a crew member but at least no one was hurt.

I think it would be difficult to host in Israel because of the security needed being at risk of terrorism and rocket attacks.

the public vote (which matters) is strangely missing from pieces in several media outlets when reporting the right race to the top.

I think the Eurovision organisers do need praise for not succumbing to pressure and allowing Israel to compete and we see by the results there is a huge amount of public understated sympathy with the victims of terror and overcoming of adversity.

We have to remember that many survivors have life long psychological scars (and indeed tragic suicides have occured) get this woman poured her energies into singing producing a really quite poignant ballad.
