Telegraph article today: Israel may have assassinated Hamas leader who resisted hostage deal

Israel may have assassinated Hamas’s leader in Gaza after launching a massive air strike on a hospital.

Defence sources said they were assessing whether they had killed Mohammed Sinwar in the overnight assault. He was perceived as taking an extreme line on hostage negotiations.

The Israeli Air Force is believed to have used bunker-busting bombs among dozens of munitions in order to destroy what it described as a subterranean terrorist command and control centre at the European Hospital in Khan Younis.
It reportedly targeted the exits to the underground compound with the aim of preventing the escape of any survivors.

“[Mohammed] Sinwar was the most extreme figure in terms of negotiation positions for reaching a deal,” an official told the Jerusalem Post. “If he is out of the picture, it should ease the efforts to reach an agreement.”

Yes, and Israel is also expected to provide food, water, and utilities to a population who are trying to eradicate them. War is hell on civilians, always has been. Don't start wars and then whine when the people you wanted to genocide, actually start fighting back and doing it properly.
Gaza is and was a failed state, dedicated not to the wellbeing of its citizens, but the mindless destruction of the state of Israel and the Jewish people.

My heart breaks for the civilians caught up in this. The amount of starving Gaza children should be evidence enough that this is a deliberate and targeted genocide.

I can't help but think what if it was me and my country being bombarded by bombs and starved and the rest of the world just stood by doing nothing and did 'whataboutery' to justify innocent people being killed.

I hope this conflict ends soon so the suffering on both sides can end but it seems doubtful atm.

No amount of dead children is enough for some on here to condemn the Israeli government. There is ALWAYS without fail some sort of justification for poor Israel’s conduct.

I think the 100s of dead journalists and the threatening phone calls that photographers like Motaz received are probably evidence enough.

The children didn't start any wars. They are victims, usually people show compassion to victims.

Wonder what the ‘light’ injuries were to the ‘journalist’ as hard to see how any were sustained from the video.

Very well done to Israel that they were aiming for high value targets, despicably hiding among the sick and injured, with such precision that those children mentioned in the article were not hurt.

We are far beyond disgust now. It's a small consolation, but the world has finally awakened to the sheer inhumanity of Netanyahu's Israel—supported by many Israelis and their allies. Just imagine if Russia were doing this to Ukraine; we would likely be at war by now.

It is so insane that for they cannot reveal the name of their cameraman for his own safety. I appreciate the fact that they are being open about the fact that naming him would probably have him killed by Israel. It really drives home just how much Israel have been trying to control the narrative, so much so that they have turned to murder to keep the truth from coming out. It takes a brave person to work as a journalist in Gaza, well done to him for helping the world see what is happening.

What evidence is there of this that Israel targeted him as a witness, before you repeat unverified information?

The ‘journalist’ from whose account this has been reposted only seems to have posted since the war started, most of it IDing IDF soldiers and hacking into their private Social media accounts. There is nothing from before Oct 7th 2023 on his Twitter account from what I could see.

Can you call just yourself a journalist with no credentials in Gaza then?

Terrible that this poor child was dragged into a war and lost his life, like all the other children in Gaza and Israel and have lost their lives, due to the actions of Hamas, their funders and supporters,
and the Gazan civilians who took part in Oct 7th.
