Anyone watched the Louis Theroux documentary

Sometimes if a senior soldier is present he might tell them to behave but generally they are left to their own devices and it's really difficult. Especially when it's very hot and you have somewhere important to get to or you need to get home to pick your child from school. Some even eventually resort to begging the soldiers to let them go through.

I'm not talking about why checkpoints are there, I'm talking about the regular abuse of power especially by younger IDF soldiers on Palestinians who are trying to pass through the checkpoints.

To be fair, they did say this.

Responding to a poster calling out expressions of superiority over Palestinians, the poster’s response was along the lines of:

’Actually I do feel comfortable saying I am superior to people who do X, Y, and Z [list of violent acts]’

I don't doubt that.

There is obviously so much hatred on both sides that there's bound to be a lot of friction at bottlenecks.

Still necessary to have the check points though.

Perhaps when both sides have leadership that would prefer talking to violence everyone's lives will improve.

I don't believe you. That is not the sort of thing I have ever seen them say.

It's a regular occurrence where soldiers will abuse their powers and not let Palestinians through check points for hours if they don't like them. These are lived experiences, they are often abused there too.

For anyone who is actually interested about the documentary and how Palestinians are treated in the west bank then the check points are a nightmare. You have a doctors appointment that should be a 20 minute journey but you have to leave a couple of hours in advance because you don't know which IDF soldiers is going to be at the checkpoint that day and some of them will hold you up for hours for no reason given except they are in a bad mood that day or they get a kick out of it.

Fwiw, I have family friends living in the occupied west bank and they said no matter how bad it gets they will not leave. They know the end goal of the settlers is to harass them so much that in the end they have no choice but to leave so they can take over the land. It's a very difficult life.

Your repeated, relentless contention throughout these threads that Palestinian solidarity protesters are violent and aggressive towards counter-protesters is largely why such behaviour by these counter-protesters was highlighted.
